  • Cincinnati in the 70s ! If u were nt there , you wouldnt understand

  • Not the "original" soundtrack, but an arrangement from the album "Television's Greatest Hits - Vol. 3 (70's and 80's)".

  • I loved this show. I had a crush on andy and i thought herb was neat.

  • I don't know the show, but the theme song is Great!

  • song is a remake

  • gosh i just love it, i miss these moments in time, best themes songs of shows back in the day

  • Wooh go Cincinnati!

  • that black guy is the dad, RAY from sister sister

  • Classic Thanks for posting.

  • OUT-FRIGGIN-STANDING!! Brings back SO many memories! Man ...

  • Hey guys can you believe Jan Smithers who played "Bailey" on this show is now 62-where did the time go-wow

  • @curtisjones400 She was SO HOT and still is. I used to take my adolescent fantasies Ahem about her

  • I had a barband called The Les Nessman Experience.

  • OK, all time best TV show theme ever. Seriously. Nothing comes close.

  • Brings me back man....Awsome!

  • It was all about Lonnie Anderson ... hubba hubba...

  • only one black guy in cincinnati???

  • @420saluki Only one employed black guy in Cincy

  • @herbgardner420 Lol what yall talkin about?

  • I'll never forget when they threw the turkeys out of the helicoptor. I thought I would laugh to death. What a good show.

  • @torrents4u2c I joked with my parents that I would file a lawsuit against the producers of the show and CBS for driving me to hiccups, the turkey incident was just that hilarious.

  • Just a great show with some some great writers. And to watch Jan Smithers once a week wasn't such a bad deal.

  • this arrived to my country in the early 80s... i was too young to understand it,, but i enjoyed it anyway..

  • This is some rare proof that the 80's did have some Gold.

  • the 80s wasnt to bad

  • When I was a baby, I would never fall asleep easially, so my mom would sing EVERY song she knew to me. This was the only one I liked. WKRP FOREVER!!!!!

  • I WAS DICK IN THE IN DIRT LOVE WITH BAILEY QUARTERS!

  • I love the Richard Cheese Version.

  • I was named after Bailey form this show!

  • Themes so good, most become hit singles! Not like the "non-music" music themes we have today!

  • @HardWarUK agreed, maybe cuz things change or im an old yank now,but seems like old show themes (late 60s-early 80s) were radio worthy- hip- unforgettable, and better than entire shows of today!

  • @1WhoMee1 No many themes on TV are now made "movie like" with large orchestra's. It's the same with video games. Back in the 90's they were quirky and individual. Now they all sound the same too.

  • a favorite series of mine

  • "went to the bartender....!" -- meow

  • Definitely Bailey

  • Wow! Takes me back to the carefree days of the 80`s. This show was very under rated--very funny show and the actors were brilliantly chosen for memorable characters...

  • I still think this is brilliant

  • wow! this makes me feel old

  • that was really good

  • All I was waiting for was the end of it.. WKRP in Cinnnnnnncccinnnnnaattiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ! Love the good ole days !

  • Memories.

  • 0:35-0:44 is my favorite part

  • @crh2010 That's' a typical '70s radio-station effect; that's why they did it.

  • Man, the songwriter's for late 70s sitcoms must have been a pretty depressed bunch. My two favorite shows from that era, WKRP and Welcome Back Kotter, have the most depressing theme songs, at least to me. I remember being a kid and feeling almost melancholy after hearing the openings to both those shows. WKRP is a bit more upbeat compared to Kotter. John Sebastian's Welcome Back can almost send me into a suicidal funk : ).

  • @ritter89

That's so true. I'm watching EVERY sitcom I can get, and this one has a particularly sad intro. But "Cheers" cheered my up... XD :D

  • @ritter89 dude thats so f'up. i used to feel that way too! when i was a lil kid watching the start of kotter.as much as liked the tune, and the show it made me sad in some way. wierd shit.

  • welcome to Ohio, it sucks!

  • RIP Gordon Jump

  • @belzibub i know right? just seemed yesterday i was a lil kid looking at this show cracking up. now im 29. i mean i barely remember it, but, that song man. just something about it. i cant explain it.

  • I got tired of packing and unpacking- town to town up and down the dial- maybe you and me were never meant to be but maybe think of me once in a while.

  • @belziebub the theme song is about the andy travis chrachter who came to cincinatti after a break up that was a wonderful story line and jennifer as beautiful as she was and how she flaunted it, was discovered to be lonely and often scared the total opposite to how she showed herself public to private very smart, this was a great cast sad to hear arthur carlson's actor gordon jump passed away he was like a big kid in this show and a father figure to jennifer and bailey, wonderful show.

  • God this clip & the theme song to Family Ties & Perfect Strangers brings back so many memories. Takes me back to a different time.

  • i love this man. *exhales* i can never get enough. reminds me of my childhood.

  • @slimray these clips bring back so many good memories of a time long ago. You know it does not seem like the people on this show should be in their 60's- where has the time gone?

  • Excellent show.

TV does not have good shows anymore.

At one time, almost every show was good.

From the 1950's to the '80's, TV was so good.

    Now it sucks.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • One of the greatest theme songs ever!!!

  • oh man, this song totally reminds me of when i was a radio dj at a wacky radio station in ohio. oh wait, that wasn't me...

  • Loni Anderson was like Marcia and Jan Smithers was like Jan to the Brady Bunch.

  • This "is" the original theme song?

  • @theboze1959 I do not know.

  • @theboze1959

This is not the same version as the TV series. For that version, listen to the WKRP uploaded by ryry101.

  • @generatorx They sure sound the same to me, one is just from the show and the this one sounds like it is from a regular recorded version from a cassette. Same artist, same song.

  • @theboze1959

The recording is slightly different. The singer is the same, but the recordings are not.

  • as far as I know yes it is..

I don't remember ever hearing any other opening song or any other version of this song..

And I was a teen when this show was brand new

  • @theboze1959 no remodernized

  • @theboze1959 Yeah this is the original song. Although it sounds sped up slightly.

  • @theboze1959 no

  • Turkeys can't fly.

  • Buckner and Garcia wrote this and Steve Carlisie sung it!

  • I loved this series! Much better than the rubbish which pollutes the airwaives nowadays.

  • I wantd to be radio disc jockey afte hearing this tune then yo could liv in cinci AN GO TO football games and watch them get beat by the steelers what a tune I'd play Kick

  • Baby maybe you and me in cincinatti. Think of me uh-huh

  • wkrp in cincinatti written by series co-creator Tom Wells and Hugh Wilson and sung by Steve Carlisle. released as a single in 1979 by the MCA and went to number 65 on the Billboard 100 in 1981 and again in 1982, this time on the Adult Contemporary Charts. the song, was written about charactor Andy Travis. also, another bit of little known trivia is that David Cassidy turned down the role of Dr. Johnny Fever.

one of the truly timeless television theme songs.......

  • @kmdiver911 Thank God Cassidy turned down Johnny Fever. Howard was my favorite!

  • @kmdiver911 Thank you for the info, i'll put yours in my description with the credit given to you.

  • Beautiful performance by Dan Amrich

  • That is not my version, that's the original! :)

  • @DanAmrich Oops, I didnt actually listen to the video (listened to it on Tdar) and I assumed this was the same :P

  • Loni Anderson is the blond-- I would still love to "hard rock" her world

  • That blond could make ANY city look good...even mine.

  • When I was a kid , it made Cincinnati seem like the greatest city in the world . I was kid of let down when I got there for real . I guess my hopes where just too hi.

  • LMAO! great with my weed

  • Haaa... I think that black guy made some appearances on 'That 70's Show'.... wasn't he the guy who played Hyde's dad?,... he owned the record store, and had that cute black daughter....?

  • wkrp was awesome. i miss watching it the tv show,s today suck big time !!!!!

  • I love this show! The Thanksgiving Special was such a riot! Turkey's Away and Les on a Ledge were the greatest one's ever!

  • What ever happened the the 80's theme songs for TV...you will be missed.

  • I remember watching this on the late night. Like 10 pm. This is classic.

  • my cool uncle Ron lived in Lexington, KY this time( and still does), smoked pot, had a huge record collection and loved to drive around town with no place to go in his bomber faded and dinged up Mercedes. My idol, and we used to watch WKRP on my grannys awful TV. Nostalgia trip!!!

  • I live here... IT SUCKS!!! badly!!!

  • Come on, Cincy's not so bad

  • Radio needs another Johnny Fever! Cool cat he was. Livin' on the air in cincinnati and all that.

  • Radio would be cool if there was a Johnny Fever and Wolfman Jack if there was a radio show with them 2 I'd tune to the station yank my dial and throw it out the window

  • miss shows like this!!!

  • This takes me back to my middle school days, when this show used to come on in the morning. Usually, I would be getting washed up and stuff, preparing for another taxing day at school, when I would hear this song. Used to love hearing it, too:)

  • this video/audio makes me nostalgic for one of my home towns. my dad likes the cincinnati reds even though he lived in the cincinnati area for only about 2 years ( about 1969-1971 ). my dad was a fan of the cincinnati reds even before he moved to the cincinnati area. i lived in cincinnati ( including the city limits ) during much of the 1990s. cincinnati wkrp was a great show with a great theme tune. i believe that most domestic turkeys have had their wings clipped, thus making them flightlesss.

  • This is a good cuddle song. I wanna sniff my sister and snuggle and feel her boobies

  • ... wait, what?

  • Comment removed

  • alright fellow babies!

  • It was great to hear anyway after all these years. Thanks!

  • No problem.

  • This isn't the original recording of the theme. It's well done, but it doesn't have that wonderful, flat, mono warmth that came out of the TV speaker.

  • I got this from a secondary source.

  • not the real theme

  • I was born in '79 and I dont remember the story lines from this show but I remember hearing this them song a lot. lol

  • was born in '80 loved watching this show in reruns really funny, better than most comedy shows on tv now

  • Bailey was underrated

  • my fav episode when they had to make higher ratings and mixed like 7 songs all cut up and who called and answerd will get a big cash prize hahaha and someone called all sleepy and won lol

  • lol he's doing the shocker!

  • i love this song

  • reminds me of primetime as a kid in the 70s early 80s this came on than the muppet show than the love boat, makes me miss my mom when she was young,

  • When did this show first hit the airs anyways? I was born in '92.

  • 78-82 and lasted 3 or 4 seasons. Don't remember what channel it aired on.

  • CBS

  • 1978

  • 1980 was the first year I believe.

  • @e521soediv 1978-it was on CBS.

  • @cardsandramsfan Ok thanks.

  • Great show,

a great era and great memories,

    Thanks

  • This, Taxi, the Jeffersons, Barney Miller, M*A*S*H truly defined the 70s sitcom era.

  • you forget Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter, Three's Company, Laverne and Shirley, Mary Tyler Moore, and a hoste of others. Lots of cool shows in the 70s, and we were also watching shows from earlier, like the Honeymooners. The 70s was a great time to be a kid.

  • man, i love this show, and the theme song!

  • C0LD BEER

  • I've always liked this theme. I heard it a lot as a kid. : )

  • HA HA HA HAAAAAAA! Im crackin up!!!!!!!

  • great show!!!!

  • Man the bass player just goes off on this theme song...

  • This is Less Nessman...

  • Nice....

  • This was my mom's favorite show when she was pregnant with me :)

  • I overheard from huge WKRP fans that the first season of WKRP is available on DVD, but some music and parts in different episodes have been edited or altered. That's why I'm not purchasing WKRP on DVD, unless it's the original showings as the first were shown to us on CBS or any other television network throughout the 80s and 90s.

  • True...this is due to licencing issues of the original music. Generic replacements were put in instead, and where the licenced songs were in the background, the soundtrack had to be redubbed or edited. It's also the reason that even this DVD issue has been so long in coming.

  • I bought the first season DVD . I was pleasd with the quality and the comedy . It would be super to have the original musical context . To me , it seems SO stupid . For the original musicians , it's a chance to connect to a whole new audience when their parents or who ever watch these old episodes on DVD ???

  • Man this takes me back...

  • Good news everyone, if you have WGN, they're showing all the episodes with everything from the original airings intact :-)

  • WKRP is such a great show! An American classic.

  • Check out imdb for full WKRP shows and more. It's outstanding!

  • Bongs out an watch this masterpiece

  • It is in mine-one of the most underrated shows of all time. One of the best shows ever on tv!!

  • Great show and theme song.

  • First season's version was much better

  • Loni anderson said That the dude that played Andy..was awsome in bed an all the girls said to test him out an she did

  • Yeah right Dumbass...where'd you hear that at?..looking at the poster of her on your cieling with 1 hand busy?...not true. Dumbass

  • she did have an affair with Gary Sandy.

  • The only thing Cincinnati is known for...lol

  • Bullshit, i hear about that place all the fucken time.

  • do you live there?

  • no i used too. i live here in Dallas now and i still here bout it all the time.

  • this is the best version of the song.

  • I think when you've said Bailey Quarters, you've said it all :D

  • Of course, she's beautiful...what ever happened to her.

  • she was on some celebrity reality show a couple years back...

she was beautful... always my fav!

doesn't Jeniffer look like farrah fawcett when she smiles?

  • I went to Cincinnati in 1992 and was very impressed!!! As a fan of WKRP you know I was thrilled with the fountain as well as Riverfront Stadium. WKRP was a great show and for me there were two words: Venus Flytrap.

  • Two words: Bailey Quarters.

  • you spelled Cincinnati wrong

  • i'll change it

  • I live About 25 miles from Cincinnati
