@NotAverageGirls14 - Yes. But hopefully, a person will wash their hands when they go to the bathroom, lol. In that case it doesn't really matter, because the hands will be clean. Also, your vagina is attached to you. Its INSIDE you. So there really is no way to avoid touching it, because technically, you are always touching it. The same blood that flows through the veins of your vagina, will be flowing through the veins of your face in a couple of minutes.
@wiccamoon03 -- They are wide, but its not inserted from width, its inserted from length, because its squeezed oblong, and it stays oblong in there too. So it never expands to full width in you.
These things are fucking amazing. My whole period experience is a billion times better. Plus tampons and pads have bleach and dioxins in them, so this is better for your body. And cups are reusable, so there's less waste. Plus I've never had to worry about leaking, or changing tampons every few hours.
Hi, I have question :) I tried the cup, it works but it's more diffcult to get it out. Should I just practice more to make it easier? AND, will it be felt during sex? The cup feels really obvious to fingers.. Will it reduce the quality of sex?
@Kittykita111 -- Practice does make perfect when it comes to using cups. I would say keep at it. Removal is always a littel more tricky than insertion, but you will get it. Whether or not it is felt much during sex depends how long you are inside, or how high you cervix is. If your cervix is high, the cups edge can hide inside better. If its low, the edge mught feel more obvious.
very gud info i have a cup but you cant use that during intercourse i was just curious about using it on the last few days when my flow is not so flowy<<lol so thanks thanks thanks
@LucilleBangz -- you can use it during intercourse, but you should put in a new one right before doing that. I used it during intercourse one and it worked. But its not really a good idea to use it while its part or half full.
@desireechick -- No, you don't have to remove it when you pee. The hole we pee from (the urethra) is outside the vagina, right in front of it, actually. Its really small. The cup will sit up inside the vagina. 2 different holes, so pee won't even touch the cup at all. However, some people might personally prefer to remove or change it when they go to the bathroom. That's ok.
Can you wear these when your out running or dancing? Obviously you can tell what kind of dance I do. Will it collect alot of blood since it is almost completely flat when it is inserted in your vagina. please help
@irishdancegirl19 -- You can wear them while doing physical activity yes. But until you know how it works for you, you can just try it in the evenings at home, and use a pad for backup, until you get confident. Its ok for the bag to be flat inside, because it can still fill up. Everything just collects in the bag, and the top is sealed, so no air is needed. Its like filling a plastic bag with water, it will be flat when you start, but it can collect a lot.
@MrSnowball22 -- Actually they do, you can find them in drug stores, such as Walgreens, Rite Aid, and Walmart. Even some grocery stored with feminine hygiene isles carry them, such as Raley's.
My faithful (yes, I'm positive, lol) husband is coming home tomorrow after being away for 5 weeks. He will be home for a week and then gone for only God knows how long. I start today or tomorrow(heavy and painful). He was already ready to kill someone and almost got into several fights (the job not finishing on time because of careless people).
Point: This review probably saved lives. I hope they sell these in Ga somewhere. lol
If you're comfortable inserting tampons you should give this thing a chance. It is sort of strange at first with the weird plastic baggy but it is less messy than a tampon. But, umm when you take it out you should probably be seated....
I started using these.. I wanted to give it a try before buying the divacup..
The only thing i don't like, its hard to remove without spilling it.. I have only used it for about 2 days, but I do the hook and pull slowly and still have it spill out.. any ideas. I think its because the cup portion is so flimsy.
@polyesterwindow -- Well the companies don't recommend it, because Insteads were only approved by the FDA for disposable use. There are some people who re-use them. I don't know if there is any "risk" because I haven't heard of anyone having problems with it. And there are reusable brands. But of course, the design is different, like there are more wrinkles in the bag, and more little crevices for things to hide in with an Instead. So I imagine you would have to be a bit more careful.
@MenstrualCupInfo thanks so much! the reason why i started using these is because i had trouble with the diva cup due to my small size. do you know of any other (reusable) menstrual cups that are softer and easier to use than the diva cup for a small framed 18 year old womyn? thanks for your time :)
@polyesterwindow Younger people or virgins tend to like small Lunette, small Ladycup, small Meluna. But make sure you consider your flow... If its really light, go with small Meluna. Medium or average, go with ladycup. Heavier, go with Lunette.
@MenstrualCupInfo I use these. I only re-use them once, i.e, I wash the blood out in the sink. DO NOT USE SOAP ON IT! Btw, I'm 16. The cup only looks big.. TRUST ME, Its not. lol
I'd sometime love to be able to be a woman whenever I wish though if I was able to do this I'd give the menstruation and childbirth times a wide berth. I'd of course be a lesbian. (:o)
Is there any way to size the cups? I'm abnormally "tight" and my main worry if I get one of these is that I won't be able to insert it correctly or it won't sit inside properly.
@ChocolateAnonymouse these basically squeeze to fit how tight you are. You can also try reuable ones, they work very differently than this (lick my screen name and see my channel) but you would have more sizes to choose from.
I appreciate the fact that you are demonstrating this, but why are you using the glass tubing instead of another object that may be able to serve as a better simulatefor the vagina? Users would have a better idea of how it's supposed to be inserted and held in place, along with your description. The glass tubing has no give, therefore, it cannot provide an accurate view of what the cup should look like once placed into the vagina correctly...but thanks for posting this video.
That was all I had at the time. But I probably will end up re-making this video. Although right now, my living situation has changed and I suddenly have less privacy for video making :)
@MSChelsey1988 You'll learn it. Just follow the directions. Basically, if it doesn't leak and its not annoying you, you have it in correctly. You can wear a pad for backup, until you get confident.
@weirdo31854 How are you able to have sex with him, but not tell him when your cycle is?? Because he's "new"? That's not an excuse! Priorities, woman.
@missamericanpie1 -- Well, everyone has a different lifestyle. Some people don't really get deeply involved with partners. But in other cases, a lot of men are a bit freaked out by the thought of having sex with a woman while she is on her period, even if they are married. Because of the mess and society's squeamishness and all. Even if you tell him you are wearing something to stop the blood, still some guys might be too squeamish to try it. Some people want to prove it works, before telling.
I don't understand at all. I've seen many videos and diagrams of how to put them in. I've tride putting the softcup in but i don't know how for to put it back or even if I"m getting it behind the cervix or what. The diagrams that I have seen make the vigina look as if the inside and the opening is completly smooth. I don't think mine is. I'm getting really frustrated. I don't understand how the soft cup can stay behind the pelvic bone. It doesnt stay there it basically is half a fingernale in.
@tinagirl1992 -- If the instead cup won't go in far enough to sit behind your pubic bone, then that means you are short up inside. AKA you have a low cervix. Same thing with me, actually. Insteads are a bit too long for people who have a really low cervix. You might be better off trying a traditional/reusable menstrual cup. They wok by a completely different concept and position, and don't require resting behind the pubic bone. They can be shorter too.
@MenstrualCupInfo So should I go for the reusable Diva cup then? I was actually looking for them because my mothers friend recomended them, she has been using the same one for years and she has never had any problems or leeking. I just forgot what they were called until I saw a coment on this video. Are they built for lower cervix women perhaps?
@tinagirl1992 -- Mmmm.... Diva is actually one of the longest brands, so probably not the best for a low cervix. In that case, you would be better off with something like Lunette, Yuuki, or Fleurcup. They are shorter, but still pretty good capacity.
@3735Debi My moms friend is using that one. Thank you I couldnt remember the name of that one. I am using the Softcup and they say its not reusable but I have been rinceing it out with hot water. Actually yesterday was my first time using it and I had no clue what I was doing until today when I finally googled what to do.Do you know were I could possibly buy one?
@tinagirl1992 Instead softcups are sold in many regular stores that sell pads and tampons. Same isle. Like WalMart, Maybe Walgreens? Rite Aid, Raley's, etc.
i just want you to know you completley saved my life!! tomorrow my boyfriend is coming over and we were going to have sex..we have been planning tomorrow for about a week and i havent been with him long enough to tell him that im on my period and this is going to save my life! if it wasnt for u putting the different names i wouldnt be able to find it
I bought these a few years ago and never had good luck with them. I used them thru one whole cycle and every time I got up or coughed or moved wrong it would spill. Judging from the demonstration difference between this and the cup it looks like the cup would have a tighter seal. I'm hoping this is true because I would really like to have success in using it
That you so much for making these videos! I'm a first-time cup user, just ordered one and I'm super excited to use it! I feel like I have all the information I need to use it! Mostly from your awesome channel :) Thanks! Btw, I'll probably be personally messaging you in a little while with a question! :)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on these. I've been using them for three menstrual cycles so far and I'm hooked I will never use a pad or tampon again! I am curious though if you know which reusable cups (like Luna, moon cup, etc) that is just about identical in size and feeling to this cup? I'm thinking about buying a stronger reusable one but I don't want to get it and then it be too big or too small and then waste my money. If you or anyone else knows of one that is most similar to this
@DannaGoat -- truthfully, none of the reusable cups are anything like this. They work by a completely different concept. Instead is unique. This cup goes by the "diaphragm" concept, the rim sealing to the front/top vaginal wall and going behind the cervix. But the traditional cups rims are smaller because they are worn at a different angle. They seal around the inside of the vagina, instead. They go by more a "tampon-like" concept, only a cup shape rather than being based on absorbency.
@DannaGoat -- Click on my screen name and watch my "how to use a menstrual cup" video, to see what I mean, it really is a different concept. As of today, there is no other brand like instead. Its the only one. But I've heard they may be coming out with a smaller size, for younger people, or people with a low cervix / shorter vagina.
these aren't really worth the effort. when i tried these, they always get stuck behind my pelvic bone and i needed to undo the suction while they were still inserted. blood EVERYWHERE. I'm investing in a real nondispoable cup.
I heard that instead cups used to be awesome, but now they suck because the company oppted for a much cheaper, plasticy material. They leak constantly for a lot of people, so I wouldn't buy into those if I were you. Just saying.
i cant figure this thing out ! i cant get it to stay behind my pubic bone :( i really want to be able to use it. im 21, 4'11 and tiny. could that have anything to do with it? maybe im just too small up there to use it? idk.
@spashley971 You might just be shorter inside, if you are shorter, then it won't go back behind the pubic bone. I am very short inside, so the front rim is just barely inside, but I can still get it to seal, so if I needed to use one, I could.
i bought this product for the first time ever, i am 16. and i practiced inserting it..i was nervous, i have never heard of it before. hope it works good
Is it better to squat down and insert or just have a foot elevated? I usually squat a bit to insert tampons. Should I just follow that? Or....Your videos are amazing!! They are honest, considerate and education. I am so happy. I have been misusing the menstrual cups for a few cycles and was about to give up but I will keep trying.
@babydoc8680 -- Thank you, I'm glad you like the videos :) Which ever way works best for you is ok. But it might be good to practice other ways, because its really hard to squat in public restrooms, people can see under the door.
ok i am sold on these and i have them this is day 2. Here is my delema, everytime i go teetee it dumps. what am i doing wrong? I dont leak any other time just when i am using the restroom and it is a mess to get use to. I will continue to use them though.
@bobbyedavidson -- You might be shorter on the inside, sometimes that brings it forward and breaks the seal when you're going to the bathroom. For having a bowel movement, you could push back and up on the rim during. But I'm not sure about going pee. Another option is, the traditional washable cups. They work on a slightly different concept, but they are more forgiving while going to the restroom.
@leelahutt1 -- Not much, after you get the hang of it. Small price to pay for up to 12 hours of protection, and clean sexual activity (for those who are old enough, that is).
@Bgarcia1219 -- If your flow is really light, then the maximum time is 12 hours. But if its average or heavier, it could be 8 to 10 hours, or less, depending exactly how heavy it is.
I just bought this, and was very intimidated by its big size! Thought it would hurt to insert it, but it doesnt. I tried it use it, but couldnt get the hang of it. It keeps wanting to pop back out no matter what I did. Just b4 I was about to give up, I checked out ur vid. I am willing to try it again. I never managed to 'hook it' around the cervix. So Im inspired to try it again b4 wasting the whole 10$. Like the idea of the other cups better bc they are smaller. .
How do you know you've gone in far enough? I've just recently bought these and that's the only part I'm wondering if I'm getting right. Please let me know, thanks. :)
@strangelittlegirl00 -- If its in far enough, you shouldn't be able to push it in any further, like you would feel that it is at the very end of the vagina. The back end of the ring has to be all the way in, to rest behind the cervix.
@MenstrualCupInfo Thank you! You have been so helpful. I've tried it a few times today and I think I got the hang of it. If I'm not leaking I assume I did it right. It's almost like it locks into place for me. I love this thing!
I just bought these for the 1st time and am currantly trying it for the 1st time (TMI ?? .. lol . Sorry ) I dont really have a fair assesment on it yet , but I do like that I cant feel it at all ! I was really surprised about that !
those always made a horrible mess when i tried to remove them! they worked great, and never leaked but taking it out was a disaster! i use a diva cup now and since it just gets pulled out right side up there is never a mess :) i love my diva cup.
Man I should have found you earlier! I just bought these and was so scared I was doing it wrong (the directions really aren't that great on the box). Thank you!!
of course i get my period over thanksgiving when i'm visiting my bf... :) so i am going to try out one of these tomorrow. i came back here to watch the video again, and it's very helpful. thanks, melissa :) the heat sensitive bit is so cool too.
@burtv1610 -- Well, that's what I said abotu tampons, until I finally started using them at the age fo 20. I also said that about cups at first 2 years ago, but look at me now.
@MenstrualCupInfo Agreed! I didn't start getting into tampons until I turned 18 just because I go to the gym a lot and it's a lot cleaner. Now I'm ready to move on to these softcups, I love the idea of not having to change it out every 5 hours. They're a little intimidating at first but it's totally worth it
@MollyLuvsMusic -- Well you don't wear them round-wise, lol. Heavens, nobody is that big, unless they just gave birth. These are worn squeezed long and skinny-like. Anybody could manage it squeezed skinny.
@chichipandapple -- I firmly believe that people really overeact to these. Its not as complicated as people make it out to be in their minds. With a little practice, you can use these as fast and as easy as a tampon. I'm quite shocked about today's attitudes. I always though today's generations were more open-minded. But it turns out that when it comes to periods, they're just as terrified of something new and different, as people back in the 1700's were. Kind of a shame...
@AngelGBaby -- These are usually in pharmacies like Rite aid, where the pads/tampons are, but also Wal Mart and I think Wallgreens? I've even seen them in some of the nicer grocery stores, like Safeway and Raley's, again, where the period supplies are. The baggie at the bottom and the way it hugs behind the cervis, it kind of creates a light suction that way. So assuming its not too long for you, and you insert it correctly, they don't fall out. It may take some practice, you can wear a pad.
@imchiquitabanana -- You'll feel it, it will feel much more secure, and it won't slide forward unless you tilt the back part down first. If its not secured, it will just slide in and out kinda easy.
i tried this about 2 times. the first time was great, but the second time. oh my i was getting inside a car and it just all spilled out.. it was horrible. ever since then im too scared to use it again..... but im sick of tampons . but i think this video helped me alot. i will try it again and give it another go
@chikitia112209 -- I've heard of people doing this, but no official research has gone into it. Adn of course the company does nto recomend it. Thus far, its only been individual testemony on the matter.
@ducttapekidd -- Its pretty strong, you would have to purposely be trying to rip it. I would compare it to a cross between plastic wrap, and one of those zip-loc sandwich bags. The plastic is a bit thicker near the ring, very secure.
i tried this a couple years ago. at first, it was totally fine. the second time i got pain in my lower abdomen. i tried adjusting it, to no avail. it was getting worse so i threw them out
@jsamari -- may have been too long for you. For some women this is the case. You could probably try a small size of one of the traditional cups though.
I tried those and was surprised that it actually works like a charm... HOWEVER removing it is like HELL. The thing is it is hard to grab that pink ring because it gets slippery. I always end up making a mess, and only take it out in the shower now. It takes me ages to remove it. I will try one of those 'regular' cups, that have a little thing we can pull. And if you have long nails, be prepared that you might feel it even harder to remove Instead.
@Nightshade599 -- When it is squeezed oblong by your insides, it is long enough to reach. Its real smooth and slides right out. Its pretty unlikely that it would get stuck.
@vietmonkie -- You can leave it in. The hold you pee from is on the houtside of your body, and this will be up inside the vagina. Some people find it easier or more comfortable to go to the bathroom without a cup in. But it varies from person to person.
Im 12 and Im a swimmer, and my bestfriend uses a divacup and I wanted to know if it would be the right age for me to start using instead (its the only cup that sells locally plus it doesnt have a string attached) . My mom has never heard of this before and she said I could try it if I could use it at my age
@jennaskater693 -- techically anyone of menstruating age could try the Instead, but weather it will be too long for you will depend how long or short you are inside. You can give it a shot, it should only cost you 10 dollars or less to find out :) Best of luck.
I've been using these a long time. Best thing ever. In Texas I often found them in Walmart, Walgreens and sometimes Kroger, but it takes several minutes to locate the small box amidst all the tampon and pad products that take up the aisle.
I have just tried these for the first time and they are great and all but when I sit down I can feel it and it's uncomfortable (not painful), I can't feel I thing when I stand up or walk around. I'm kinda young and I'm a virgin, could that be the reason it is uncomfortable when I sit down, or do I just have to get use to it? I am sure I put it in right, cause it doesn't hurt.
@ialwayslogin -- That could be it, but also it might be that you have a low cervix, aka, a short vaginal canal. I do too, and so do about half of the women out there. Its no big deal, its just it changes the kinds of cups you can successfully use. People with a short cervix usually do better with a shorter, traditional cup. Depending if they have a light or heavy flow, they could use medium meluna, small ladycup, small lunette, or small yuuki.
Thanks!! I normally use a Diva Cup but wanted to try INSTEAD instead lol. The instructions on the box don't tell you exactly how you should insert the cup. Thanks for this video! (Wal-mart sells it, but not in all stores...such a downer.)
@11strawberrykisskiss -- I belive you can yes. Or other pharmacies. But only the disposable 'Instead' brand. Tyhe other reusable brands, you have to order online, or go to a health food store.
Thank you for providing this demonstration. I have used this product in the past. You have given me some tips that I did not think about before. I feel more confident trying this product again.
@ValleyOfTheSunGirl -- for some people, it can be a little intimidating at first. But once you get comfortable with where everything is, its not so bad.
thank you for posting this video. . . . i just saw this product in walmart and i am thinking about trying it. . . your video was very informative and helpful
I have used instead for 2 years and they are far inferior to the other cups trust me! They leak like crazy! I use the diva cup now i have had no leaks!
Instead is good for sexual activity but otherwise I would not use instead as a primary method. Just my opinion! They do sell them at Smiths, Walgreens and CVS for about 8 bucks.
@MentalLice17 -- I ordered it online from iHerb. You can also get it at some health food stores. No, its totally different from 'Instead', insteads like a diaphragm, but Diva is a trasitional medical solicone cup, different concept all together. See my other videos for other traditional cups.
@ialwayslogin -- virgins can use them, but they may alter the hymen. Also, if you are very short inside, aka, have a low cervix, they might be a bit long. They sell them at Rite Aid, Wal Mart, some grocery stores in the pad/tampon section, and possibly walgreens I'm not sure.
@victoriaone -- No, they don't recomend that. Mainly because it doesn't work exactly the same as a diaphram, but also because you use a spermicide with a diaphram, to make it work. But they don't know what spermicides might do to the Instead cup's material....
@veronicahails -- try emailing the company and asking for one. They sent me a 2-cup pack when I asked. They know 2 cups will only last you a day r two, but if you like them and you want more, you can pick them up at Rite Aid, or most local pharmacies, Wal-Mart, even some grocery sores in the ladies supply isle. They have them here at my local Raley's supermarket. But discount stores don't usually have them...
Thank you so much for this video. Even with me reading the instructions thoroughly, I still manage to insert it incorrectly since I experienced some leakage. I will definitely try these tips. Thanks again.
Im 15. a virgin (good thing). i am using one and i can feel it. is that good? like the outside of the vagina is were i feel it. my mom says my cervix is low? idk but shes all like if your shaped like me, you cant wear them... so im trying it... i put it in then took it out the blood was in it. i put it back in... now i rewatched the video to see if i did it right... im not sure. please help.
@lizzydotcom Its not bad, but it may not work. It sounds like your cervix ix low. Its sometimes a little harder for virgins to use the Instead brand of cups, because they are pretty long when folded. I too have a short vagina, aka, low cervix. The end of an instead is just barely inside the opening with me, there's no hooking it behind my pubic bone, lol. I have to stick to the traditional cups, which I have plenty of other videos about on my channel. Virgins tend to do better with those.
@hm8606 -- true, I've never heard the company say anything about it. But just a few women I know who have actually tried it, say that it worked, after trying a bunch of other things with no success. I guess the results vary...
@nathaliebabyy You can kind of feel it when its positioned right, it sort of holds its place. Plus you should't beable to feelit, and it shouldnt be leaking.
@qwert8T5 For some virgins it might, and others no. But even if it does, its not the worst thing you've ever felt. And it goes away after a few uses. Cramps hurt more than these things do.
Yes you insert it and wear it the same way. You do this after you have sex. It basically keeps the sperm up near the cervix, so you have a better chance of it all geting through the cervix. I have heard that many people who are trying to get pregnant have VERY good luck with this.
I'm so glad to know this is an option! And seeing the video and knowing how it works makes the whole thing far less intimidating. Thanks!

I just want to know...what if you have to pee? LOL. Do you remove it?
desireechick 1 month ago
@desireechick -- No, you don't have to remove it when you pee. The hole we pee from (the urethra) is outside the vagina, right in front of it, actually. Its really small. The cup will sit up inside the vagina. 2 different holes, so pee won't even touch the cup at all. However, some people might personally prefer to remove or change it when they go to the bathroom. That's ok.

I have only used it for about 2 days, but I do the hook and pull slowly and still have it spill out.. any ideas. I think its because the cup portion is so flimsy.

do you think there's any risk in reusing these at least once?
polyesterwindow 5 months ago
@polyesterwindow -- Well the companies don't recommend it, because Insteads were only approved by the FDA for disposable use. There are some people who re-use them. I don't know if there is any "risk" because I haven't heard of anyone having problems with it. And there are reusable brands. But of course, the design is different, like there are more wrinkles in the bag, and more little crevices for things to hide in with an Instead. So I imagine you would have to be a bit more careful.
MenstrualCupInfo 5 months ago
@MenstrualCupInfo thanks so much! the reason why i started using these is because i had trouble with the diva cup due to my small size. do you know of any other (reusable) menstrual cups that are softer and easier to use than the diva cup for a small framed 18 year old womyn? thanks for your time :)
polyesterwindow 5 months ago
@polyesterwindow Younger people or virgins tend to like small Lunette, small Ladycup, small Meluna. But make sure you consider your flow... If its really light, go with small Meluna. Medium or average, go with ladycup. Heavier, go with Lunette.

@MenstrualCupInfo I use these. I only re-use them once, i.e, I wash the blood out in the sink. DO NOT USE SOAP ON IT! Btw, I'm 16. The cup only looks big.. TRUST ME, Its not. lol

Is there any way to size the cups? I'm abnormally "tight" and my main worry if I get one of these is that I won't be able to insert it correctly or it won't sit inside properly.
ChocolateAnonymouse 6 months ago
@ChocolateAnonymouse these basically squeeze to fit how tight you are. You can also try reuable ones, they work very differently than this (lick my screen name and see my channel) but you would have more sizes to choose from.
MenstrualCupInfo 3 months ago
I appreciate the fact that you are demonstrating this, but why are you using the glass tubing instead of another object that may be able to serve as a better simulatefor the vagina? Users would have a better idea of how it's supposed to be inserted and held in place, along with your description. The glass tubing has no give, therefore, it cannot provide an accurate view of what the cup should look like once placed into the vagina correctly...but thanks for posting this video.

MSChelsey1988 6 months ago 2
@MSChelsey1988 You'll learn it. Just follow the directions. Basically, if it doesn't leak and its not annoying you, you have it in correctly. You can wear a pad for backup, until you get confident.

@weirdo31854 How are you able to have sex with him, but not tell him when your cycle is?? Because he's "new"? That's not an excuse! Priorities, woman.
missamericanpie1 6 months ago
@missamericanpie1 -- Well, everyone has a different lifestyle. Some people don't really get deeply involved with partners. But in other cases, a lot of men are a bit freaked out by the thought of having sex with a woman while she is on her period, even if they are married. Because of the mess and society's squeamishness and all. Even if you tell him you are wearing something to stop the blood, still some guys might be too squeamish to try it. Some people want to prove it works, before telling.
MenstrualCupInfo 6 months ago
I don't understand at all. I've seen many videos and diagrams of how to put them in. I've tride putting the softcup in but i don't know how for to put it back or even if I"m getting it behind the cervix or what. The diagrams that I have seen make the vigina look as if the inside and the opening is completly smooth. I don't think mine is. I'm getting really frustrated. I don't understand how the soft cup can stay behind the pelvic bone. It doesnt stay there it basically is half a fingernale in.
tinagirl1992 7 months ago
@tinagirl1992 -- If the instead cup won't go in far enough to sit behind your pubic bone, then that means you are short up inside. AKA you have a low cervix. Same thing with me, actually. Insteads are a bit too long for people who have a really low cervix. You might be better off trying a traditional/reusable menstrual cup. They wok by a completely different concept and position, and don't require resting behind the pubic bone. They can be shorter too.
MenstrualCupInfo 7 months ago
@MenstrualCupInfo So should I go for the reusable Diva cup then? I was actually looking for them because my mothers friend recomended them, she has been using the same one for years and she has never had any problems or leeking. I just forgot what they were called until I saw a coment on this video. Are they built for lower cervix women perhaps?
tinagirl1992 6 months ago
@tinagirl1992 -- Mmmm.... Diva is actually one of the longest brands, so probably not the best for a low cervix. In that case, you would be better off with something like Lunette, Yuuki, or Fleurcup. They are shorter, but still pretty good capacity.
MenstrualCupInfo 6 months ago
There is a reusable cup called a Diva Cup, I just started using it about 6 mths ago, there is a slight learning curve, but I am truly happy with it.
3735Debi 7 months ago
@3735Debi My moms friend is using that one. Thank you I couldnt remember the name of that one. I am using the Softcup and they say its not reusable but I have been rinceing it out with hot water. tinagirl1992 7 months ago

MerciMeMerciMe 8 months ago
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on these. I've been using them for three menstrual cycles so far and I'm hooked I will never use a pad or tampon again! I am curious though if you know which reusable cups (like Luna, moon cup, etc) that is just about identical in size and feeling to this cup? I'm thinking about buying a stronger reusable one but I don't want to get it and then it be too big or too small and then waste my money. If you or anyone else knows of one that is most similar to this
DannaGoat 8 months ago
@DannaGoat -- truthfully, none of the reusable cups are anything like this. They work by a completely different concept. Instead is unique. This cup goes by the "diaphragm" concept, the rim sealing to the front/top vaginal wall and going behind the cervix. But the traditional cups rims are smaller because they are worn at a different angle. They seal around the inside of the vagina, instead. They go by more a "tampon-like" concept, only a cup shape rather than being based on absorbency.
MenstrualCupInfo 8 months ago
@DannaGoat -- Click on my screen name and watch my "how to use a menstrual cup" video, to see what I mean, it really is a different concept. As of today, there is no other brand like instead. Its the only one. But I've heard they may be coming out with a smaller size, for younger people, or people with a low cervix / shorter vagina.
MenstrualCupInfo 8 months ago

these aren't really worth the effort. when i tried these, they always get stuck behind my pelvic bone and i needed to undo the suction while they were still inserted. blood EVERYWHERE. I'm investing in a real nondispoable cup.
katelovesyou666 8 months ago
I heard that instead cups used to be awesome, but now they suck because the company oppted for a much cheaper, plasticy material. They leak constantly for a lot of people, so I wouldn't buy into those if I were you. Just saying.

spashley971 9 months ago
@spashley971 You might just be shorter inside, if you are shorter, then it won't go back behind the pubic bone. I am very short inside, so the front rim is just barely inside, but I can still get it to seal, so if I needed to use one, I could.

bobbyedavidson 10 months ago
@bobbyedavidson -- You might be shorter on the inside, sometimes that brings it forward and breaks the seal when you're going to the bathroom. For having a bowel movement, you could push back and up on the rim during. But I'm not sure about going pee. Another option is, the traditional washable cups. They work on a slightly different concept, but they are more forgiving while going to the restroom.

How do you know you've gone in far enough? I've just recently bought these and that's the only part I'm wondering if I'm getting right. Please let me know, thanks. :)
strangelittlegirl00 1 year ago
@strangelittlegirl00 -- If its in far enough, you shouldn't be able to push it in any further, like you would feel that it is at the very end of the vagina. The back end of the ring has to be all the way in, to rest behind the cervix.
MenstrualCupInfo 1 year ago

chichipandapple 1 year ago
@chichipandapple -- I firmly believe that people really overeact to these. Its not as complicated as people make it out to be in their minds. With a little practice, you can use these as fast and as easy as a tampon. I'm quite shocked about today's attitudes. I always though today's generations were more open-minded. But it turns out that when it comes to periods, they're just as terrified of something new and different, as people back in the 1700's were. Kind of a shame...

I never seen one in stores before is this better for girls who have heavily flows?Who it come out if I'm sleeping?
AngelGBaby 1 year ago
@AngelGBaby -- These are usually in pharmacies like Rite aid, where the pads/tampons are, but also Wal Mart and I think Wallgreens? I've even seen them in some of the nicer grocery stores, like Safeway and Raley's, again, where the period supplies are. The baggie at the bottom and the way it hugs behind the cervis, it kind of creates a light suction that way. So assuming its not too long for you, and you insert it correctly, they don't fall out. It may take some practice, you can wear a pad.

MenstrualCupInfo 1 year ago
I tried those and was surprised that it actually works like a charm... HOWEVER removing it is like HELL. The thing is it is hard to grab that pink ring because it gets slippery. I always end up making a mess, and only take it out in the shower now. It takes me ages to remove it. I will try one of those 'regular' cups, that have a little thing we can pull. And if you have long nails, be prepared that you might feel it even harder to remove Instead.

jennaskater693 1 year ago
@jennaskater693 -- techically anyone of menstruating age could try the Instead, but weather it will be too long for you will depend how long or short you are inside. You can give it a shot, it should only cost you 10 dollars or less to find out :) Best of luck.
MenstrualCupInfo 1 year ago
I've been using these a long time. Best thing ever. In Texas I often found them in Walmart, Walgreens and sometimes Kroger, but it takes several minutes to locate the small box amidst all the tampon and pad products that take up the aisle.

I have just tried these for the first time and they are great and all but when I sit down I can feel it and it's uncomfortable (not painful), I can't feel I thing when I stand up or walk around. I'm kinda young and I'm a virgin, could that be the reason it is uncomfortable when I sit down, or do I just have to get use to it? I am sure I put it in right, cause it doesn't hurt.
ialwayslogin 1 year ago
@ialwayslogin -- That could be it, but also it might be that you have a low cervix, aka, a short vaginal canal. I do too, and so do about half of the women out there. Its no big deal, its just it changes the kinds of cups you can successfully use. People with a short cervix usually do better with a shorter, traditional cup. Depending if they have a light or heavy flow, they could use medium meluna, small ladycup, small lunette, or small yuuki.

lizzydotcom 2 years ago

I guess the results vary...

how would you be able to tell if you don't have it placed correctly ?
nathaliebabyy 2 years ago
@nathaliebabyy You can kind of feel it when its positioned right, it sort of holds its place. Plus you should't beable to feelit, and it shouldnt be leaking.

does it hurt if you are a virgin the both sexually and to a tampon?
qwert8T5 2 years ago
@qwert8T5 For some virgins it might, and others no. But even if it does, its not the worst thing you've ever felt. And it goes away after a few uses. Cramps hurt more than these things do.

It's rare to find something so serious, knowledgeable, and useful on Youtube. Thanks very much for your uploads; they've been a huge help!

How can people use it to get pregnant? Do we put it in the same way??
Eboni0890 2 years ago
Yes you insert it and wear it the same way. You do this after you have sex. It basically keeps the sperm up near the cervix, so you have a better chance of it all geting through the cervix. I have heard that many people who are trying to get pregnant have VERY good luck with this.
