This was neat! Thank you jasonmit. I was going to try to guess exactly where you are, but since you want to be discrete I will not even try. The neat thing is I know the area, but picking your building would be like a scavenger hunt. Saying that, please more sir?
Aah, its always fun talking to local youtubers. No one yet has been able to guess where I shot this video.
I actually have some videos of the rains we had that June. They're in the Related Videos to the right... "June Flooding, Part 1" and "Thunder Storm, June 19, 2007"
There's another one from August "Tropical Storm Erin vs My Car" (Page 6 in my videos) where I drove into high waters on my block, flooding out my car. You might find that one really interesting.
i guess it was june that we got all of that flooding...
i was thinking from the roof video that you worked downtown... my guess would be C or D ave. i actually used to live a couple blocks from you on 27th.
i never meet anyone from lawton that is into youtube... i talk about my favorite subscriptions and no one ever knows what i'm talking about. i actually live and work downtown myself. i have some great pics of stormy skies on my myspace, let me know if your interested
Yeah, I work down town and it was on the roof of our two-story building. It's about a block from Gore Blvd.
Since its a company everyone in the area knows about, I don't want to come right out and say the name, but giving its the largest building downtown east of the court house, you might be able to figure it out. Plus, some of my other videos will yield clues.
And sure, I'd love to see the pictures. My myspace page is under the links section of my website.
Thanks for the video. I live up in Norman, we watched this on the live news here, but your video is from a different direction so it was nice to see. I miss Lawton (grew up there) can't really figure out where you are at, but I see my old church steeple! I agree, it's going to be a rough summer for us okies.
I just watched the weather report on CH 7 news. They're predicting rain for the entire week, starting this coming Monday. As long as tornadoes stay out of Lawton, it doesn't flood, and lightning behaves itself, I say bring on the rain.
Yeah we had some serious flooding last week. The soccer field over on Lee was just covered with water. There might be some more, but probably more over in the panhandle I'm betting. Best to see what happens.
This was an interesting storm. Thunderstorms usually move in a linear motion. This storm also did, but only to a certain point. It's motion was more of a counterclockwise twist.
It was a large storm. It covered about half the height of the state. I think, how it was spinning, if it was a smaller storm having all of it's strength distributed over a smaller area, it would have produced much more powerful tornadoes, and higher in numbers.
And get this, yesterday on my way to work, I saw a tornado. Sadly, my camera was in the back seat in my laptop bag with dead batteries in it. I was only a block away from work, but by the time I got in the building, new batteries in the camera, and onto the roof, it was gone. It was cool, the tornado sirens were going off and everything.
Ah man. You gotta remember to always have your camera. I think it's then #1 rule of being a photographer. I break this rule many times myself, however.
its weird that most of the bolts were seen on one side of the wall cloud

Oh yeah, it is that time of year again and I have better equipment these days.
I also made other weather-related videos including when Tropical Store Erin blew through. Just search, 'jasonmit Lawton Storm'.

The weather here in mid-sweden is even more boring...

Yeah, I agree. Allthough, in Dalarna, we get pretty big thunderstorms once in a while.

Norman, cool, my brother lives there.
We got lucky. The storm just grazed us. There was a tornado reported over by the Vo-Tech off of SW Lee, but no damage was reported. Just high winds.

It's weird when the East Side barely gets any tornadoes. Usually, it is always the West Side. At least the hard rain has stopped for now

Cool. The weather over here in San Diego is so boring compared to there. Thunderstorms are extremely rare here.

It was still awesome to watch though.

Yeah, especially when t-storms are expected. There's a moderate chance of storms for Tuesday. It'll be in my front shirt pocket all day.
