The pattern for the doublebass is a mix of 16th-and 12th-notes (triplets). You have to learn this. Try playing 8 notes, 12th notes and 16th notes combined.

i find it enjoyable because i dont instantly feel that i have heard this song before, that i dont know, from i hear the first note of the song, how it is going to go. i do find technical proficiency enjoyable, but only to an extent. i needs more than just wanking, it needs songwriting. your not going to "get" the song first time around, but thats a good thing, after awhile, you learn by heart, but still, its not redundant. its fresh and exciting. dont know if that helps you.

I just went from metal like Pantera to death metal. Being a guitarist helps to enjoy Necrophagist I think, it's really amazingly technical. And I dont know, these fast paced rythmics also sound genius to me, not just technically. But it has a lot to do with technicality of the playing, they're all amazing musicians.

Well, we do find it musical. You usually get into more and more brutal metal, you can't listen to this and appreciate straight away. Two years ago I thought Cannibal corpse was just unpleasant noise, now I love it. It's probably Lamb of God dans deathcore bands that started to introduce me to true death metal.
