i remember watching, or reading, i can't remember which; where german sheperds were used to locate ambushes. also , the nva, i think purposely bombed (mortared) the makeshift kennels of the dogs. sad, yes. those dogs came from volunteers from the states willing to give up their dogs for the war. pretty cool
