  • If we don't have a cable release or remote trigger, we could use the camera's built i timer.

  • @netmatrix75 Yup, self timer is a good trick I use often, even on my DSLR cameras.

  • where do you live? its so pretty.

  • @zombieX111222333 This was shot in Northern Vermont.

  • Brilliant stuff, thanks for that! I love the whole 'bike ride' thing too, definitely gives the viewer something to look at :)

  • @viper200691 Glad ya liked it. Riding and vlogging gives a different dimension to the vid I guess.

  • what kind of flashlight is that? thing is awesome

  • @wwwzenwww I think I had a Zebralight on it at the time.

  • hey, you blew a few stop signs buddy, nice bike ride though. thanks for the great tips, you took some great pictures.

  • @aeiq1219 Rolling stops. LOL Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

  • "Oh there's my favorite tree... Awesome." I love this video.

  • @SwimmingUpCurrents Thanks. :-)

  • Does it matter if I shoot with raw or Jpeg??

  • @est101010 RAW will give you slightly cleaner images to work with. Set to highest quality JPG if RAW is not an option.

  • Where is this at?

  • @Cbreezy241 Northern VT.

  • @LEXPIX yes but the noise is still very significant

  • great video. to be tru i had a hard time listening becouse i wanted to se what happend. haha, (whitch was great). This was probably the best way to explain it so a normal person understands it. (sorry for the bad english) And once again, Great video!

  • @Stuntasshole Thanks for watching.

  • very good ,thanks for the input.

  • with the 12,000ISO shot was there excessive noise? Or did you do something like stack images?

  • @jewlouds When using a full frame sensor DSLR the noise isn't as bad at that range. Still noisey for my tastes, but not as bad as a crop sensor or compact cameras that I also have.

  • @LEXPIX Unfortunately, being 16 i can only afford a T2i which is crop sensored :(

  • @jewlouds That's not a bad camera at all.

  • thanks man, this was very helpful

  • @mainstreams Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

  • Hey man how to use the B mode? More details please? Nice vid btw =]

  • @RadicalEditing Bulb mode ? . it leaves the shutter open for as long as the button is held long

  • ANy ideas on how to focus? I have a Canon 7D with kit lens, and yea, of course auto focus does not work, and its damn hard to crisp it off of the viewfinder..Thanks.

Kudos on the interesting video, beautiful sunset. It would have been cool to see that steady over the water.

  • @TOPHERHARPER Set your lens to manual focus and line up the infinity mark.

  • @LEXPIX Yea, that dont work. I usually half to go to that, and back it off a bit, take one, look, and keep adjusting further. Perhaps its just this lens...the 28-135 Thing is at the infinty setting everything is blurry, even checking it now, I half to back it off a bit...Thanks though.

  • @LEXPIX You would have thought that would be obvious trying to focus on something 39,900,000,000,000 km away [which is the closest star] lol

  • hi what lens do you use as you get really wide shots. i have a 11-16mm wide angle but i carnt seem to get any were near as wide as you can you give me any help.

    p.s. i have a d3100

  • @sean9355 I have a 16-35 on a full frame Nikon D700 that gives me the wide point of view.

  • @LEXPIX ok i see, well thank u

  • @LEXPIX You mention a wire or wireless remote release, I just use delayed / timed shutter on 2sec to prevent movement.

  • @PhotoShopChannel Yup, I often use the self timer method myself. The blinking timer light annoys me though.

  • i want to go biking now :(

  • You were holding the camera the hole time wile biking? You need to make a camera mount for your bike.

    Thanks for the tips!

  • nice. I like the tut on the bike ride.

  • What's with the senseless bike ride?

  • 7:32 is beau-tiful :)

  • i have found with a 30sec exposure my stars seam a bit blurred. like with in the 30sec they move across the sky. how do i make them crisp and sharp?

  • @directedbydavid Wider the lens, the slower the stars appear to move across the frame. Slight blurring is present when I shoot 30 seconds with a 24mm lens. Obviously the faster the shutter speed, the crisper the stars, but at a cost of light sensitivity.

  • You live in such a nice area. Damn you!

  • Where abouts do you live? It looks beautiful!!! ;D gr8 tips btw ;) x

  • @nachocomm Thanks, this was shot along the shores of Lake Champlain across from the Adirondack mountains. Northern Vermont in New England.

  • i enjoyed watching your bike ride for some odd reason lol

  • @Haukenslush Yeah, it is a picturesque place to bike.

  • @Haukenslush mee too haha idk why, but i guess its the way he talks about helpfull information and the nice town around there ;)

  • one person dislike because he/she don't know how to ride a bicycle with one hand, and the other hand is with the camera. joke

  • longest bike ride ever.

  • @EEZproduction There have been much longer rides. LOL

  • Hope you don't mind, I made a video response to this. Thanks to your video I took my first pics of the night sky and put them together in a video. It's not very good, but I hope I can get better eventually. :)

Thanks for the informative video and tips!

  • I can't believe you did not stop and photograph that beautiful scenery with the tree! ;D

Anyways, great tips! Will try this.

  • @LUNARIAproject I have many shots of that tree already. I never tire of shooting it.

  • @LEXPIX

I noticed after I posted that comment hehe ;)

You really live at such an beautiful place!

  • what kind od camera u have?

  • @elgrinchh I used the Canon s95 for this video. This is the camera i use most often for still images as well since it is very portable with full manual override.

  • Gosh that last pic is amazing!! Thank you SO much for the tips!! I'm new to the whole DSLR thing, so I'm not used to having so much freedom with my settings. But you've given me a starting point. I can't wait to get out there and try it out.

  • @Kandizcsr83 You're very welcome.ope your results are good.

  • sweet! thanks for the tips :) i was wondering why my pictures were turning out so dark for a 1 min exposure ..my f.stop was at 22 haha.. im gonna go try again! ..amazing pictures btw
