great video. to be tru i had a hard time listening becouse i wanted to se what happend. haha, (whitch was great). This was probably the best way to explain it so a normal person understands it. (sorry for the bad english) And once again, Great video!
@jewlouds When using a full frame sensor DSLR the noise isn't as bad at that range. Still noisey for my tastes, but not as bad as a crop sensor or compact cameras that I also have.
ANy ideas on how to focus? I have a Canon 7D with kit lens, and yea, of course auto focus does not work, and its damn hard to crisp it off of the viewfinder..Thanks.
Kudos on the interesting video, beautiful sunset. It would have been cool to see that steady over the water.
@LEXPIX Yea, that dont work. I usually half to go to that, and back it off a bit, take one, look, and keep adjusting further. Perhaps its just this lens...the 28-135 Thing is at the infinty setting everything is blurry, even checking it now, I half to back it off a bit...Thanks though.
hi what lens do you use as you get really wide shots. i have a 11-16mm wide angle but i carnt seem to get any were near as wide as you can you give me any help.
@directedbydavid Wider the lens, the slower the stars appear to move across the frame. Slight blurring is present when I shoot 30 seconds with a 24mm lens. Obviously the faster the shutter speed, the crisper the stars, but at a cost of light sensitivity.
Hope you don't mind, I made a video response to this. Thanks to your video I took my first pics of the night sky and put them together in a video. It's not very good, but I hope I can get better eventually. :)
@elgrinchh I used the Canon s95 for this video. This is the camera i use most often for still images as well since it is very portable with full manual override.
Gosh that last pic is amazing!! Thank you SO much for the tips!! I'm new to the whole DSLR thing, so I'm not used to having so much freedom with my settings. But you've given me a starting point. I can't wait to get out there and try it out.
sweet! thanks for the tips :) i was wondering why my pictures were turning out so dark for a 1 min exposure ..my f.stop was at 22 haha.. im gonna go try again! ..amazing pictures btw
If we don't have a cable release or remote trigger, we could use the camera's built i timer.
netmatrix75 2 weeks ago
@netmatrix75 Yup, self timer is a good trick I use often, even on my DSLR cameras.

Does it matter if I shoot with raw or Jpeg??
est101010 3 months ago
@est101010 RAW will give you slightly cleaner images to work with. Set to highest quality JPG if RAW is not an option.

with the 12,000ISO shot was there excessive noise? Or did you do something like stack images?

@LEXPIX You would have thought that would be obvious trying to focus on something 39,900,000,000,000 km away [which is the closest star] lol

@LEXPIX You mention a wire or wireless remote release, I just use delayed / timed shutter on 2sec to prevent movement.

@PhotoShopChannel Yup, I often use the self timer method myself. The blinking timer light annoys me though.
