As someone who works for Continental Newark Airport in the bagroom where all checked bags come after clearing TSA, I know for sure that it's very difficult for us to take anything even if we wanted to. Nobody randomly opens bags and if we did it's because the bag zipper was broken. Even with a broken zipper, we need a supervisor to sign off on the "incident". TSA is the only one who scans ALL international outbound and inbound luggage so your rambling and finger pointing is rediculous.
What a maroon. Why don't you do one on TSA, they are the ones that rifle through your suite case. Who buys a new iphone, doesn't open it up, and puts it in his checked luggage, lol. When I bought my iphone they unboxed it to hook up the service, i'm sure your with ATT so how do they do it on your planet. Something sound fishy here.
Of course they don't cover certain electronics... next time read the terms & agreements before you buy a ticket..... And these guys are correct, TSA scans all luggage, the airline simply loads it on and off the plane.... this is your mistake. That's as dumb as leaving cash in your hotel room or something expensive like a brand new iPhone.... use some common sense.
Sorry about your IPhone being stolen but this really isn't Continental's fault... TSA mostly checks bags and if things go missing, it's not the airlines fault most likely it's the TSA. Another thing, why did you pack something SO expensive? I'm not criticizing you but something that expensive and so small you should have carried it on w/ you. Most carriers fly their 757s across the Atlantic and usually International carriers are better with service but that's todays times. Fly CO again:-/
Ok seriously, i work on the ramp for CO, WE DONT HAVE TIME TO GO THROUGH LUGGAGE! BLAME TSA period, if you have missed bags BLAME TSA for holding your bag too long. So we'll see you in the skies soon :)
stupid ass. what made you think it was safe to pack expensive products. The TSA checks your bags, not CO. And, btw - all network carriers are flying 757 narrow bodies..Keep your money w/ foreign airlines....such a good american.
I think I am a good american, promoting competition by paying for what is best not what is country specific. I fly with what offers the best of the price and so will you.
I was out of space on my carry on and I thought in my locked luggage it would be "safe". Never had anything stolen before and as much as I knew it was a risk, I did it. ALSO, they didnt just take the IPHONE, they opened the box, took the phone and put the box back. That craves time...lots of time. Lastly, CONTINENTAL sucks...small plane, bad coffee so I will not use them to cross the alantic anymore. I used SWISS Airlines in June and it was fantastic...
@denmark98 lol.. ok so this proves everything i just said.. your "LOCKED luggage". TSA is the only one with keys to open LOCKED luggage. Do you think we walk around with TSA approved lock keys in our pocket? You should appologize and change the title to TSA stole my Iphone.. Sorry for your bad experience but you're seriously blaming the wrong people.
More thatn Likely TSA would be to blame for this. There is zero tolerance for theft at Co and Cameras all over the Ticket Counters, bag rooms, and ramp areas. I highly doubt a Co employee had the time or the balls to do this without getting caught. I would register a complaint with TSA also.
It could have been anyone you fucking retard. You might as well say "Don't fly period" because it could have been ANYONE you fucking Nazi. There is a reason CO says DON'T PUT YOUR ELECTRONICS IN CHECKED BAGGAGE because anyone fucking dumbass, working for CO or NOT (in this case, probably not) can take them you dumb fuck. Go fuck yourself.
By the way, lots of airlines fly narrow bodies across the Atlantic. Not just CO.
Well, if you represent Continental than I am glad I chose swiss airlines to fly to the US this time. Even if I admit I was wrong for putting my iphone in my checked in luggage that confession doesnt deserve that insensitive tirate that you have posted on my site. I will work even harder to convince my co workers, my family, my friends never to fly continental again becaue if they hire ass wipes like you then I would rather pay more for my tickets.
My father-in-law flew home from Korea last year and he was given a box of REALLY NICE chocolates that he put in his luggage to bring home to the US. Somewhere along the way someone stole most of the chocolate.
I think every one should start packing REALLY NICE turds dipped in chocolate.
just trying to get the word out...I realize it was your IPHONE...my point is if they will take my chocolates why the hell wouldnt they take your IPHONE...no...actually my point is spreading the word of how we can get REVENGE
Don't give up on this. Regardless of what everyone has said, it happened. You should see it through until the end. You should be able to show YSA and all airlines that "someone" should take responsibility for such things. Otherwise, it's a free for all! Peace.
Maybe, I am not that smart but it is a question of priority and room, Ihad bigger and more expensive things that I need in my carry on, like my entire topps baseball card collection from 1970-1979. Still think it stinks a rat ass that they do those things, regardless of my stupidity.
So you bought the iPhone in NY and went to Copenhagen and back with it still in its wrapper without leaving it at home? And you put it in your checked luggage? Further, TSA scans the bags (in the US), not CO, so it is more likely that they stole it. No proof that CO stole it.
You made quite a few mistakes here. Never put valuables in checked luggage.
I am an American, expat in Denmark the last 10yrs. Regardless, when you take your car to the mechanic you are hold him responsible for the contents of the car? If the radio is missing, he will not go and point a finger at you. All my items in my luggage are valuable and I think continental has responsibility like the mechanic for my car.
In that example, then yes the mechanic is at fault because he is the only one who is touching your car. When you fly, the airline is not the only one who touches your bags. You give it to the airline at check-in, who gives it to the TSA to screen (all international baggage is screened), who gives it back to the airline (or airport workers) to load. At the other end, someone off-loads it and puts it on the belt for you to pick up.
There are as many as three different groups that touch it: airline, TSA, and possibly airport contract workers not specific to any airline (at some airports). Yes Continental may have taken it, but it could have been one of the other two possible groups. Don't blame CO unless you have indisputable proof they took it.
