Ive seen ver 100,ooo videos on You Tube - this is obe of the best - why the hell its got only 1000 views is a mystery - and a disgrace! should be 100,ooo. Great work.
...pardon my socialist views, but i'd rather give technology a go. we are a couple of years (maybe a decade) away from being able to liberate ourselves from work, and that would be a great thing since work is also source of inequality. just as money, the value of work is also fictional, culture coded. all sorts of different labor should be valued equally instead.
might work, but this is not a fair solution. we cannot just "freeze" the world which is so unfair. we (europeans and americans) have been living on other ppl's back for way too long, and we really need this crisis to make some balance and bring more money to the ppl that *actually* produce something...
Thanks for the video. This American Life has been doing a great job discussing the problem as well. Thanks for proposing an alternative solution instead of just saying the governments is wrong. I am not sure if it would work though. Wouldn't that just increase inflation. I believe we should create laws so people are not allowed to go in debt such as do not allow banks to create risky loans and define what that statement means or enforce Payment of credit card statement so people cant sit in debt
I LOVE "This American Life" and I was incredibly disappointed that they did a whole hour on banking and somehow omitted the "fractional reserve" part. Scary.
Inflation happens when the money supply is increased too quickly - when the banks are in control they always produce inflation since they profit from creating debt/money. This inevitably leads to where we are now, not being able to keep up with all that debt, the money supply credit freezes, and you have a depression.
The fractional reserve system is insidiously built that people must buy on credit in order to keep the money supply flowing. The only way out is to end this system and restore a constitutional rational scientific control of the money supply directly under our democratically elected government.
Communism in fact is the complete opposite of what you said it is. Communism is a classless and equal society. The middle class and poor would actually benefit from it. Communism is not what you see in N. Korea, USSR, Cuba, etc... its actually a better way than Capitalism. Make sure you do some research before you begin to start bashing on ideologies
Bravo! An additional perspective might include an more descriptive explanation of how the sustainability of natural resources and the true costs of using these resources plays into the formula of GDP and determining overall economic growth/debt ratio. I do believe the next revolution needs to be a revolution of the mind! and only then will a tangible economic revolution become possible--e.g., reforming or abolishing the fed reserve! Stop consuming crap and going into debt to get that crap!
The system itself is corrupt and needs to be let go for something completely different, this is the challenge for us all....forget about who your going to vote for, whats the use of continuing on in a system that was made to be so easily manipulated and corrupted...as the late Bill Hicks put it.. ''its time to evolve people!''.
Kucinich and Paul are probably the best congressmen, and both should have been the respective nominees for the dems and reps. we would have been in much better shape if people did their homework and voted correctly in the primaries.
Excellent video, great solution, but we can't do it. You are forgetting it would upset the human rights of the elite to suck the peasants dry. We would have to start charities to help the poor impoverished bankers, and think of the cost of retraining them to do real work!

COOL VID! I like how you snatch BACK attention by acknowledging the generally puny attention span so encouraged by our 'leaders'!
These 2 get their own playlist.
