it wont show up because: 1. the drive might not be compatible with ready boost 2. your pc hates you (lol)
it should work because i have vista home premium too. right click the device in my computer, go to properties, and it should show a tab saying readyboost. click on it. it will tell you whether or not your external drive will work with readyboost. if it is compatible, it should show a lot of settings such as the video above. if not, it should say it is not compatible. i hope i help
i have a 10,000rpm with 16mb cach laptop drive in my external drive case, and im using firewire, so but im also running a stripped down version of vista with a vista crack, that might b y
it doesn't work:| it says" this device does not have the required performance characteristics for use in speeding up your system" can anyone answer plz?
you need at least 512mb.use a usb flash drive . ive yet to be convinced of how usefull it is im trying it out now,i think its just cutting down on '''virtual memory''which is what a part of the hard drive is for,but cpu usage seems to rise as well.if anything probly not much of a speed performance but saves hardrive wear
& tear.although some have said its worked really well .if your serious about speeding up you pc though id just get some more ram,its faster than virtual ram and faster than usb
no its a new idea that comes with vista, by the way all who r moaning vista is too slow, well its probly cos your running that fancy icons & windows theme called areo, it dont take a genius to know that will slow a system down, just run a windows xp classic theme, also the gadgets are pure nonsense you can get rid of those
vista i find is very stable & fast,if you tame it, theres so much they included thats never going to be of any pratical use, just get rid of these things,& its runs like a dream
I have a question do i Specificly need a Flash USB , or can i yous a Regular 8 or 4 gig Memorie USB that i use for files , cause if i can it would be great you know :D
was it much of a speed change? also canyou say what spec you have?
im still trying to see if this is a worthy thing or a stupid gimmick, it should at the least save harddrive wear and tear saving on some virtual memory use
I asked a guy in a computer shop, who told me, that the USB connection is not as fast as the attached speed of your RAM! So I use my SD Card (SanDisk Extreme III 2GB) in my Laptop with 2GB RAM and I can't see any difference! I never use the full attached RAM so you might be right!
No benchmarks? Does the speed index go up? A low load didn't appear to benefit on a 250 GB SATA Vista install with 1 GB ram: watch?v=kLcD17Xeu_A

Is that an extra Hard Drive or a Thumb Drive? I wonder if you can use your own Harddrive...
MuLegend 4 years ago 2
Oh for goodness sake, all operating systems already access your hard drive if they are short on memory. Its called swap.
CerebralGump 4 years ago
its ok i guess. i wonder how much memory you can add
