Ok this is a note to the creator on how to improve the quality of this. One thing thats a major issue is the texture. Its too thick looking. Water isnt thick usually. Also the water should move faster and it really shouldn't bounce off the walls

Im just finishing rendering a 1080p render of water pouring onto an object. It looks a ton better than this ( still looks pretty good for when it was made ) I'll save the .blend file for anyone who wants it :)
The video will be about 30 seconds long. Message me or leave a comment on the video if you want the file. :D give me a few hours to finish the render though. Just hit half way
@TheGravelbeardable hey i think for this video i may have used one of the preset yafray materials, not sure, but normaly what i would use would be to set transparency on, raytrace, IOR, 1.4-1.5 (1.45), and a low alpha setting, keep experimenting with those settings and im sure youll get it :)
@TheGravelbeardable for water leave everything the way it is just enable transparency and mirror....in transparency select ray trace and set alpha to 0.1 and IOR to 1.333. In mirror set relfectivity to 1 and ur done :) hope that helped
@vborg101 umm i made a teeni tiny mistake...u dont set reflectivity to 1 u set it to 0.3 or something like that....or just turn mirror off completely if u want....sorry ^_^
TheGravelbeardable This is how I make my water- R-.166 G-.495 B-.866 A- (alpha) .109 Click Ray mirror and Ray Transp. Ray mir-.11 IOR-1.17 Hope this helps!
"Render time 40min" I remember back days when i did some rendering with amiga 500 and Real 3D and it took something like 1 hour to render single simple image =)
@TheGravelbeardable No there wouldn't be another object with fluid on i, unless you want there to be. The two settings of inflow and fluid are two methods of fluids entering the simulation. Fluid turns the volume or shell of the object into fluid, where as inflow creates a constant source of fluid from the object. So you could have both, which would be like having a tap turned on and a sphere of water dropped at the same time.
@StarWarsFreaks1138 hey you just set the object you want to flow to 'inflow' under the fluid setting instead of fluid, you can then set which direction you want to to go
Hi, When you render water animation it takes a long time to process. Is there a way to reduce the rendering time of water animation. What settings should I adjust.
40 minutes? jeez, last time i did a water render it took close to 50 hours! is this yafaray thing any good? as in, does it speed up the render times? or do you just have a beast computer? =P
@DonkeyManda432 hey i dont actaully use yafray anymore and havent in a while, but from what i remember it was fairly similar render times, but i found it easier to make better materials with, and no i dont have a beast computer :)
Games? wtf, stop comparing blender to a game, the blender engine is way more complicated than a game engine, that's why there's somethig called rendering. Also, this is a test sim, it can be done way better. Go make a good one yourself and stop shitting around on others vids not knowing what you're talking about.
@GUARDIANOFFOR First learn to type. Then learn to compare between program and user faults. After that learn to type again, because you forgot it at step 2. Finally, try making better yourself.
@GUARDIANOFFOR You RETARD. Don't diss the program diss the person who made it, look at the blender fluid sims that have been made by more advanced users.. People like you piss me off as Blender is a great program if you know how to use it. -,-
The IOR for water is 1.33 not 1.5. Also try increasing the resolution (don't settle for less than 200). I've seen videos where they are maxed out (1024 res). Otherwise its too blobby and not watery. Also try adding particles.
thanks, to make it transparent all u have to do is in the materials turn on ray transparency and turn up the ior to like 1.5 then lower the A thing under the colours till it is see through
yeh, i know but i made this at the beginingof the year and had only just started blender so didnt really know how to make the simulation last longer. it would have been better if i had made it longer though

hey i have this system
amd phenom 2 x6 1090 t @3.32 ghz (6 physical cores)
8 GB ram
nvidia gtx 480 (not that it matters with blender)
how long do u think it will take me to render the same thing u have? and wat resolution did u use for the water?

@vborg101 Damn a 6 core AMD? Nice! You'll render that in at least 30 minutes or less.

You should delete the inflow object after blender's done simulating, it looks cooler.

Let me get this straight, you just set the the object you want to flow to inflow, so would there also be a object with the setting fluid on it?
TheGravelbeardable 11 months ago
