  • way are your other video not explained like this one

  • You liked the Art of War by Sun Tzu? Read MY new book Harry Potter and The Art of War. In stores NOW. LAWL JUICE

  • I used to be all over the place at the total war games because I never new what to do, after I read The Art of War and realised that some of these principles can be used in some realistic strategy games such as total war I've improved a lot, now I find my self always trying to take an advantage and deceive my opponent. I'd say that I am an average player now.

I'm also thinking about uploading some videos from Rome Total War, if anyone's interested then drop me a message to let me know.

  • @falloutgeck Where do you think Ninjas got their unusual strategies?

  • @JdawgWithNinjutsu and it's the unusual strategies that deceive, seem pointless but by seeming pointless they are also fulfilling their aim.

  • I always kick ass at the game RUSE whenever I always pay attention to Sun Tzu's law XD

  • Im gonna use this in stock trading when im gonna make money next year

  • how do u use this to get bitches lol.. im jokin unless somebody can tell me hahaha

  • @itsampofcourse All relationships... are based on deception.

  • Interesting Napoleon quote! Can you recommend any books or DVDs that presents Sun Tzu's thoughts in a modern perspective?

  • Not only can this information be applied to military and governmental rule, but also as an approach to your everyday life.

  • SUN TZU SAID THAT!

  • Any chance I can get some of these graphics (the ones on the five factors?)

  • Time to play Shogun total war 2!

  • ALWAY FASINATED BY SUN TZU. HE WAS A BEAST

  • This is very useful.

  • thanks alot for uploading this video :P

  • Sun Tzu said that!

  • watching this helps me win at life and video games... mostly videos games and less on the life.

  • @firetiger110 Hey, thanks for commenting. We are glad this helps you. Its always interesting for us to hear about how viewers/ users are utilizing our interpretation. Thanks again.

  • Recall the concept of heaven and earth, to the Chinese, is things unexplainable/godly and normal things. Japan geographical position shield it from invasions of the Age- an Earthly things, while the tsunamis that destroyed the Mongol's fleets are things of heaven design.

  • I came here from team fortress 2.

  • get the book

  • @KidThatLivesNextDoor Hey, thanks for commenting and viewing. We agree! Reading the book is important to understanding the Art of War. This video and the entire Learn the Art of War Digital Interactive course are intended to be a primer or introduction to Sun Tzu's principals. Thanks again.

  • If fighting will result in victory, then you must fight, Sun Tzu said that, and id say that he knows a little bit more about fighting then you do pal, cause he invented it, and then he perfected it so no living man could defeat him in the ring of honor!

  • ok im of to play some shogun!

  • Good stuff.

  • @GunShard Thank you. We think so too. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • Me and my Red dead posse used this in bag grab , and we won. We were strategizing and decieving the enemies and destroying them And just taking them out on every corner. We won 3-0 thanks to Sun tzu, i love sun tzu, he is my inspiration

  • I looked this up because a friend of mine has roaches in his house. Thanks to this, those buggers won't know what will hit them.

  • @UnfoldingBullet Hey, thanks for viewing and commenting. There truly is no end to the uses of the principles of the Art of War. Thanks again.

  • sun tzu said that

  • "ze war of kicking ass"

  • Tupac Shakur read this book

  • war, war never changes. sun tzu knew this, and this is pretty much timeless.

  • @gethsoftware Timeless, ageless. These principles transcend any situation. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

  • im watching this to kick ass in sc2

  • I was looking for more info on The Art of War and ran across your vids. I must admit that your interpretation has made me appreciate Sun Tzu's teachings even more. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • @phillydoberman Thank you for the comment and the kind words. We think so too! Remember the entire Art of War Digital interactive course is available from the website listed in the video.

  • Ive read this book. It is the greatest book of philosophy ever.

  • Im a B-Boy (which is aka a Breakdancer). When we bboys battle at competitions against other breakers, we usually dont look at flaws and weaknesses as much as you see in this video. just this first chapter had me study myself 10x the normality in my everyday agenda. This improved my mentality in battles of not just dancing but also in work/school. It doesn't make me perfect at my own game, but improves the 'me' by drastic measures. Thank you for this video.

  • @BboyJovi That is an epic comment, Thank You! Its always interesting to hear how people use this material in different situations! Thanks for the comment and the view.

  • Great stuff! Great book! Thanks!

  • @XV4444 You are welcome. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

  • where is chapter 2?

  • @efastMixer Thanks for viewing and commenting. Chapter 2 is available along with the rest of the 13 chapters at the website listed in the video. Thanks again!

  • "If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must FIGHT!"

Sun Tzu said that, and I'de say he knows a little more about fighting than YOU do, pal, because he INVENTED IT!

  • @FeamTorturess And then he perfected it so that no living man can best him in the ring of honor!

  • 5 STARS

  • @Genuinepunk18 Thank you for viewing and commenting!

  • @acct445 No he didnt because he lost.

  • @zorrgon56 Ditto. Thanks for the comment and view.

  • @acct445 He may have read it, but clearly didn't understand or properly execute it. Thanks for the comment and the viewing!

  • This is really interesting! Great job!

  • @FranciscoJAmaralR Thank you! We think so too.

  • Winston Churchill was still a basterd in my opinion.

  • @chris96kalonji And that is your opinion. In our opinion, thank you for the comment and viewing!

  • long live the art of war ,long live the Chinese people, long live the spirit of Chinese wariors.

  • @TheSongshujie The spirit is alive and well in the teachings of Sun Tzu. Thank you for the comment and view.

  • I am a x Martial Arts Teacher now have my own style so others call me master. There's more to this then anyone will talk about. Lets not forget that the 1st thing and that is wining any war without a war! Games are games War isn't a game. Thank you for this much ppl will learn some thing.

  • @1Zerotonine We also hope people get as much as they can out of this material. Thank you for the comment and viewing.

  • @1Zerotonine I agree, war is serious. I am a student in a martial art. It's like a game of chess not as a game, but because both require strategy

  • DAO, TIAN, DI, JIANG, FA!

  • I also applied these concepts in computer security. Thank you for uploading! Respect!

  • @hck112 Thats awesome. We are always keen to know how people are using this material in life or career etc. Thank you for the comment and viewing.

  • Many videogames apply The Art of War very well, like BFBC, Total War, WoW, World in Conflict, TF2...

  • with this info i never lose on Rome total war.

  • @colesjeff12 That's fantastic. Thanks for the view and comment.

  • @colesjeff12 What is "Rome total war"???

  • @colesjeff12 sme here, i am unbeatable at shogun 2 total war :)

  • "Let China sleep for when the dragon awakes, she will shake the world"

    Napoleon Bonaparte

  • Wow! Very informative. Thanks!

  • @islander31 And thank you. We are glad you like it.

  • I wanted to make a TF2 joke here, but this is just too awesome.

  • Google is my friend, yes, but know your spelling, or you will lose one hundred searches.

-Sun Tzu, the Art of War, 525 B.C.

  • Sid Meier´s civilization saga on war mode, its based -I feel- on this principles.

  • @MrTakakame The new Shogun 2 Game is Japanese yet it was designed using these principles. =O In an interview with Creative Assembly, they said they based it off the Art of War to challenge the player and after watching some Campaign walkthroughs, they are absolutely right! Ninjas and spies are necessary to assassinate generals and cause civil unrest causing revolts and such. That game is so cool. Civ is awesome too but the battles in Total War kickass

  • Excellent upload.

Thanks for the good work here.

  • @vassephardi Thank you for the comment and the view.

  • @Mastermind19871987 Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. We always enjoy hearing about what this material is used for by the viewers. Thanks again!

  • @Diogenes1111111 Hey. Thanks for the comment. Please watch Chapter 1 in its entirety. Heaven and Earth are the external factors that are equal to both sides of the conflict. They cannot be changed. You must make sure that your plans fit inside the rules, geography and current situation that Heaven and Earth represent. More information is available in all 13 chapters of our digital interactive course from the website listed in the information section of the video above. Thanks again for watching!

  • All Power to the People

  • 5*****

  • @Apdolie07 We agree! Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • This could help me a lot IRL...

  • My God man, I used this to survive High School. :)) I'am now the alpha male of my college course cause of this. Memorizing the Art of War also helps. :D

  • @3ch056

You needed the Art of War to survive High School? Did you grow up in the Bronx!?!

  • @WSWarthog Nope! Philippines. Out here, the rules are different than in the Bronx.

  • @3ch056

Well I still find it very strange but if that was your situation it can only be a good thing that you were able to make it through with Sun Tzu's help.

  • Thumbs up if ur here cause of OMFGNinja

  • Sun Tsu could win a match of Starcraft against any Korean ESL with just 20 APM.

  • These concerns about strategies can be traced back to the Chinese San Tzu, in " The Art of the War " from 500 B.C., and, more modernly, with Maquiavel in " The Prince " from 1500 A.D. Art, war, power and norms, in truth, are inherent parts to this set of values that has established order as we may see things around us

  • Awsome ---and in my favorites

    Thx

  • @TheInfiniteThings *Awesome sry :D

  • The explanation is excellent, as I read the book, it was hard to relate the wording for today. I appreciate you making this available.

  • who is sun tzu?

  • @MrTifli

"Sun Tzu said that, and Id say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do pal because he INVENTED IT, and then he perfected it so that no living man could bets him in the ring of honor. Then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a BOAT, and then he beat the CRAP outta every single one of them. SO from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it would be called THE ZOO..... unless its a farm!"

  • I've read the miyamoto Mushashi's "The Book of Five Rings," "Hagakure," and so far I've failed to get this piece of literature. Does anyone recommend the precise literature for Sun Tzu's "The Art of War?"

  • I have started using these concepts in every form.

  • @SuperTigerNo1 That is excellent. It is useful material. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @SuperTigerNo1 but how bro...cn u give me a example how ur using it in ur life.. ?

  • @manpreetsingh9243 I am the captain of the football team in my school and these concepts can be used in almost any versus senario and we won the last game this saturday against st.james highschool at 2:0 :) just by using these concepts.

  • @SuperTigerNo1 That's amazing. We have an upcoming blog post about football and the art of war. We think you will enjoy. Check out our website for more. Its at the beginning of the video. Thanks again for viewing and commenting.

  • These principles of war are actually studied by military commanders.

Practical application of these concepts may manifest its actual benefit.

If you think you can write up a book on the art of war that is better than his, I would buy your book and study it.

  • I use these concepts while playing call of duty: black ops

  • @Gootch82 There are many applications of this material. We are glad that you find it useful. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • This is great! now I can battles and hopefully get world domination :P

  • Laws can change :/

  • @williamwzl Laws can change indeed. You must be up to date on the constraints of your environment and work within those to be successful. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • I feel that this book sometimes puts too much emphasis on deception. It's deception together with raw power that determines the outcome of a war. If everyone starts being careful, then there are other edges with which to win. Does that make sense?

  • @mattboy88 yea but it shouldnt really be called deception, it should be called ignorance, because thats what sun tzu means, u do the right moves but because the enemy is not accustomed to your tactics or movements their ignorance will cause them to be deceived by you. does that make sense?

  • @BADDESTOFTHEMALLUKNO assuming your enemy is ignorant is a very big mistake. how long before the enemy adapts and learns from you..??

  • @mattboy88 your not really assuming. you make a move which you calculate him to misjudge and one that if he does not you can recover from without a significant loss, if he does misjudge you may take the battle in which case it was his ignorance that caused him to misjudge

  • @BADDESTOFTHEMALLUKNO in other words: always be prepared for anything..?? i'm wondering how one should adapt sun tzu's lessons to modern life. the more i learn, the more useful everything starts to look.

  • @mattboy88 You can learn more about the modern interpretation in all 13 chapters of the Learn the Art of War online course. They are very useful tactics and material. Thanks for commenting and watching!

  • @how2etc I'm going to check it out right away!

  • I think ppl should read it themselves and interpret it in their own way. thats the beauty of it

  • 3 people lost a war.

  • Just read the translated version. It's very concise, and it's principles can be used for anything that requires risk/reward and cost/benefit analysis. This includes, but is not limited to: trading, sales, law, politics, running a business, relationships, climbing the corporate ladder, games (chess, go, poker), and of course, actual warfare.

  • The Art of War... Rule 1: He who has the gun.. has the power

  • I use these concepts in chess. Thanks for the great video! :)

  • I am very tempted to buy this online course.

  • @justicetrooper We're glad you feel that way. It is an excellent introduction to The Art of War and a unique modern interpretation which has been well reviewed. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • Superstition thy name is Sun Tzu. lol

  • Where can i find the book that you are reading from ? i need the book for school !!!

  • @tevinjoseph You can check out our website where you will find this Modern Interpretation for all 13 Chapters and I'm sure it would be helpful for school. Our website is in the description of the video underneath it. Or type "learntheartofwar" into google. You Tube Regs prohibit us putting a URL in the comments section. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for commenting!

  • @how2etc thank you for putting this up. =D

  • @d0n1mega You are welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @tevinjoseph It's "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu, it's available in most libraries. :b

  • This is ground breaking work. Well done. Its truly about people and dealing with conflict. I wish more people understood that this isn't about fighting or war.

  • @lgd444 Thanks for commenting, we appreciate the compliments!

  • after reading this i started owning in dota. dota is a strategy based game.

  • @FarizMetal Thats great to hear. We are glad that our work can be of use! Thanks for commenting.

  • @FarizMetal hnahahahaha. this guy funny

  • @FarizMetal You're from the Philippines aren't you?

  • and to make it clear, i understand size alone does not necessarily win against opponents. just using an example. but despite all this, great methods for instruction. i love that.

  • @PervySage002 Thanks for all the comments! We appreciate you sharing your insight as it relates to martial arts.

  • @how2etc Thanks for this vid mate lol i actually use these methods of thinking when playing GO (weiqi or baduk depending on where you are from) they are hard to use on chess or shogi since it is always going to end up a battle of attrition which Sun Tzu did not like i think i am right in saying, but anyway mate thanks again, this is very helpfull.

  • @PervySage002 SUN TZU SAID THAT

AND I THINK HE KNOWS A LITTLE MORE ABOUT FIGHTING THAN YOU DO PAL CAUSE HE INVENTED IT

  • @pyramidheadkitten9 AND PERFECTED IT SO NO ONE COULD BEAT HIM IN THE RING OF HONOR!

  • @kennyshigh THEN HE USED HIS FIGHT MONEY TO BUY 2 OF EVERY ANIMAL ON EARTH

  • @Tallest9

And then he beat the CRAP out of every one of them.

  • @abridgeduploader ...and from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together one one place...

  • @Tallest9

    It's called a ZOO

    UNLESS ITS A FARM

  • me: middle sized guy, compare to an intense body builder like how arnold schwarzinegger (pardon spelling) looked, im much 'weaker' by comparison. but stand me next to a scrawny person who seems as thin as a pencil, and im the 'stronger' of the two. if i were to score myself, it'd be much to subjective (opinional) than necessary. but this stuff, although started here, is further explained in the 6th chapter, focusing on the concepts Xu and Sat, or (watering it down) weakness and strength.

  • in such, its interesting to note, that the art of war, or the bing fa, helped shaped martial arts. If you consider a real martial art fight, you cant rele plan anything. its all reaction to condition. so if the 13th chapter was about gaining information, then the first is really using it... for quick comparison. you constantly compare yourself to your "opponents" based on the 5 elements, and your either better or worse compared to them in each dimension. to explain:

  • i love how this was very user friendly and visual. the insights of comparison and "scoring each other" was well done.

  • 0:55 "breaking into 3 groups" According to the translation of Gary Gagliardi, chinese (as well as philospohy in the ancient world) was based on diagrams. and this shows the Commander as a stand alone, whereas in Gary's research, Tao or the shared purpose of an organization is the "standalone" being the center of it all, with the other 4 points of the star being, methods and commander (the organization) being complementary opposites and heaven and earth (strategic environment) comp. opposites.

  • I usually prefer unabridged texts but this is really good!

  • @MysteryMixes Hey thanks for the comment! We appreciate it!

  • good video great interpretation

  • @CesarCarbajal Thank you for viewing. That's awesome that you enjoyed it.

  • this is good info but can you....how do i put this?..-looks around thining- AHHH!!! make a display of thngs like dots and boxed -dots are me/you- and boxes are hostile...make like that so we can undertsna d a bit more lol i had to write things on paper 5 times to get the advantage and the score stuff but bysise the lack of conseption of details like that this video is great

  • @arthisz1 Thanks for viewing and commenting. We have much more in depth content available in chapters 2-13 available from our website. You can find the URL in the details section of the video up top. YouTube regs prohibit posting a URL in the comments section.

  • I always thought the central theme was "all wafare is based on deception".

  • @jimothy183 Hey thanks for the comment! We appreciate the feedback. While "all warfare is based on deception" is one of the common and well known themes, we felt it was important to highlight one of the often over-looked themes that is just as important; "who has the advantage?". In the rest of the book that question becomes more and more important. Thanks again.

  • I like this video

  • @Foodforwisdom And we like this comment! Thanks!

  • i like this video but come on! Why make one video like this and make the rest all boring,,, and then make us buy the version such as this??? I wish people werent so selfish
