The more important question would be, why is American Industry not concerned about the environment? Things could be made in a responsible, renewable manner, but they are not. We have the knowledge to use clean fuels, but we don't. The diesel engine, was originally made to run on biodiesel not fossil fuels. I can't exactly go and buy a car that runs on water, even though such technology exists.

The reason that America is so addicted to oil is because oil and gas is perhaps the most profitable industry in America. I mean look at Exxon Mobil, BP, Shell etc. the profits they produce quarterly (not to mention yearly) is in the billions... We need to make a shift from oil to renewable energies.

But it has been answered to the best of my ability; and while i am sure my answer is not perfect, i do believe our interwoven lives and relationships, while they may seem impossible to perceive at times, are the basis of justifiable compassion. I think prisoners should be considered free labor. They have a DEBT to pay not we have to give them cable tv. Hard labor, free labor and long days. Imagine how much food we could grow or how much litter could be picked up by thousands and thousands of prisoners each day for free!

I think we should increase spending on education and social programs so less people end up in prison. the guns need to be taken off the streets. less guns, less violence, less money spent on jail, more people are safe, educated and productive to society

NO! That is a bad idea. In Britain they took the peoples guns and look what happened. There are more crimes of theft and such there. Fact is you will not ever make it impossible for people who are already criminals to get guns and when the populace is gunless we are just wide open for the kill. More guns equals less violence. I agree with schooling and social programs though as long as that money is not through taxes and voluntary.

There are two kinds of people. People who will shoot you and people who will not. If all the people who won't shoot you have no guns and all the people who will do or get guns then what will happen? It's a myth that you can outlaw guns and people won't get them, the only thing you've done is put all the power in the hands of government and black market arms dealers. Do you think property is defended by asking someone not to take it??

Its a such a violent culture that a big percentage of the population don't have respect for a human life... they just pull the trigger like it was nothing .

The police are few in number and cannot be at your side every second of the day. I would rather protect myself anyway. There are thousands upon thousands of instances where people would have otherwise died without a gun waiting on police. I would rather carry a gun than try to go tooth and nail. The majority of people don't have any desire to hurt others and if more people carried a gun then the "bad guys" would be outnumbered.
