  • Thanks God we have You Tube and people who upload these great videos. If we can only filter out all the manufactored music and continue Rock as it's intended to be played>

    Miss you Moonie, OX

Long Live Rock! Be it Dead or Alive

  • Comment removed

  • the oax!! the oax!! the oax!

  • @kamusboy How such John was important to the band, and most of people are unaware of it! I had to turned in a girl of 50 to get this perception. I miss him so much. My quiet one!

  • Well not out of sync when I watched it. What can we say?! If you know the original then you will know that this is a great live performance. Entwhistle's solo was class! (can't help wondering it sniff had something to do with his confident gusto). Quadrophenia is arguably one their best album. What a band!

  • i mean how fuck did john do all that

  • @mLaNo96 Skill and sniff.

  • John Entwistle RIP buddy you were the best!

  • was in sync for me x

  • you can tell that his voice is damaged . . . sad . . . these rockers hurt themselves and pay in the end. Great video and effort well done by the Who!

  • The Ox is Kicking Ass on this one !

  • who s those.....

  • made my day

  • could be the best video i have seen on here. and i am not the whos greatest fan.think they were a great band but will get more into them after watching this.

  • how many bass guitarists play solos?

    only the ox!

  • 2 people took uppers and downers, but did not buy a ticket to Brighton...

  • Virtuoso John Entwistle. Grandes The Who!

  • Zac Starkey does a more than competent job of drumming for the band, but where do you find a replacement for the "Ox", be great if someone could then we might have a chance of seeing and hearing the Who perform live again in a way that they should.

That is if Rogers voice can hold out......he is brilliant on this one by the way!

  • Pete's kid brother on lead guitar - rock it Simon...

  • So Roger's 32 here or what?

  • It's in sync now

  • I love this song and performance.. John is def my inspiration for playing the bass.. But if there is one thing I would change, I would prefer to see Pete tearing up the guitar then this other guy. Pete rocks a guitar like nobody's business. Great song

  • @cmcmeeks "this other guy" on guitar is Pete's brother Simon, who's excellent, but obviously ain't Pete!

  • This is the second best lineup

This is the second best lineup from The Who.

    John Entwistle-Bass

    Roger Daltrey-Vocals

    Pete Tonwwshend- Guitar

    Zak Starkey- Drums

    EPIC

  • it was thnx to john i picked up the bass guitar so thnx rip john sadley missed legend

  • I wonder what Ringo thinks of his boy being a better drummer than he. If I were him, I'd be proud.

  • @wolfpat dosent really take much olol

  • @xobeccaox66 We shall be thankful for that Ringo wasn't as technicaly skilledas his contemporary Jazz drummers - cause then he would have become one.

Instead of becoming the first real Rock Drummer.

  • @CentraCross Internet high-five, sir. I really think the people who take the time to slam Ringo should instead spend that time really listening to some of his better tracks. He didn't suck, he just didn't deviate form the classic backbeat much - he was a transition to today's drumming, in a way. Listen to Tomorrow Never Knows or Rain; hell Magical Mystery Tour as a whole is Ringo's peak.

But this isn't about Ringo, is it? It's about his son and the AMAZING BAND he drums for! THE WHO FOREVER!

  • my absolute favorite who song!

  • if thats roger daulthry, he has aged pretty well

  • you sir are a moron... that's NOT how you spell daltrey

  • Daltrey will never get old. He's 65 and still going (and he's got his hair left, as well :P).

  • CRAZY BASS SOLO

  • i think it's one of the best bass solos i've ever seen

  • The original Quadrophenia album is without doubt a work of genius! The film was a bit shoddy and tacky in places, though good fun! Perfoming Quadrophenia with running commentary is also well tacky!! To enjoy Quadrophenia you have to listen to the original Vinyl recording, not the Cd, which has been ruined with a re-mix!! What the hell happened with you pete? why fix it if it aint broke!!!

  • Its out of sych?

  • Sorry, it got out of sync for some reason. I'll see if i can fix it.

  • I see you still haven't fixed it. It used to be in sync. Why don't you delete it and then upload it again.

  • I would do that but I no longer have the video I used. It was on my old computer that died, and I borrowed the DVD from a friend who went away to college. I'll try to see if I can borrow the DVD again.

  • @cliffplesha Hey, what DVD is this from? thanks...

  • @wgfa The Who Tomy & Qudrophenis Live with special guests. Rhino recordfs

  • @nomad2369 Geat, thanks!

  • @nomad2369 Thanks...

  • wow entwhistle was so good! i want his bass

  • There's a guy whose selling one for $20,000 on a Status forum...

  • almost worth it.

  • It was from John's personal "flock of buzzards".

  • 4:55

  • This generation really needs to get it together: the Baby Boomers are kicking our butts.

  • They all went to the same schools and John and Pete were childhood friends. It was Daltrey who started The Detours, and asked Entwistle to play bass. Entwistle brought Pete in on guitar and they eventually found Keith Moon...or Keith Moon found them, whichever it was.

  • man that guitarist (simon townshend?) is wearing suspenders. Why do old people know how to rock so much better than the young ones that are full of energy? Then again, who is John Galt? Long live the Who!

  • hahaha Roger Daltrey looks like Dr. Cox from scrubs in this

  • lol true!

  • lol i thought i was the only one who thought that

  • haha when i left that comment i had just finished watching an episode of scrubs lol

  • Mr. Entwistle played like he was from another planet...on a totally different level. Incredible stuff!

  • Stanley Clarke just aspires to stuff like that.

  • BASSIST

  • Yap and I started to play the bass because of J. ''Thunderfingers'' Entwistle.

  • I learned bass by watching this man.

    Sleep well, John Entwistle; 1944-2002.

  • AND, guys, don't forget, he was ALSO a great beissesst, in addition to being a great basest, and a great bassest.

  • coreect..the busiest bassest ever

  • this was the last solo before john's death

    RIP The Ox

  • Actually it wasnt, I think your refering to the Royal Albert Hall Perfromance which was in 2000, this is from the 96/97 Quadrophenia reunion tour.

  • one of the best basest of all time

  • He was a great bassest too

  • thats what i said dumb fuck

  • He's a great bassist, too.

  • GODS!!!

  • Now if im not mistaken that's pete's brother on lead guitar right?

  • I though Pete was still on...

  • Yeah, Simon

  • God just picked that song on my radio.

  • for anyone who wants to skip to it, the bass solo starts at 4:51

  • Thanks!

  • Alex Langdon (sorry LordBinary, not you!)

  • they should leave the guitar playing to pete

  • Absolutely!

  • I agree with you. Ironicaly, on the mommentary to one of these concerts (box set) he stated that he prefers playing acoustic live. Add that to the fact that hes a rhythm guitarist extrodinare and its (unfourtunetly) appropriate that he shoyld be resigned to the rhythm/acoustic role. That said, he does a wicked electric solo on 'Love reign o'er me' from the same concert. Should be on YouTube. Youll be amazed.

  • I know I would be amazed. I love Townshend!

  • 3:11 XD ! LOVE THAT PART!

  • Jimmy outta Quadrophenia

  • its me

  • Good God, that was an incredible solo John.

  • John Entwistle was one of the best musicans ever existed. RIP Thunderfinger

  • greatest live bass performance ever

  • Holy shit, John's bass is incredible. What a great band.

  • goes to show why theyre the best live act ever. even when theyre old.

  • I saw them at the next show they played after Entwistle died. Sad show.

  • Holy shit!! The Ox rules!!!

  • Petes brother kicks ass on lead guitar

  • He sure does.

  • This is amazing end of story to bad Keith wasn;t at the kit or Pete didn't do the solo he is amazing when he's stoked

  • that bass solo is UNREAL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chilling.....

  • The Ox at his best, but very impressed with Ringo's son on the drums.

  • The best bass player in the world.Without doubts:John Entswistle(The Ox)and rest in peace

  • I wish i could see the Who now...The Ox is amazing

  • wtf bass solo is sick!

  • One of the greatest bands in the world!

    Fucking amazing.

  • Electric guitar player is Pete's younger brother and the drummer is Ringo's very very talented son Zak Starkey

  • I saw The Who do the Quadrophenia concert in Pittsburgh with Billy Idol

  • its on a boxset

  • 5/15/08!!

    HAPPY WHO DAY!!!

  • Townshend is on acousitic because of the whammy bar incident in 89. As much as I know he was back on electric around 98,99.

  • wtf?!

  • i think he means john entwistle is the eddie of bass

  • your right

    look for

    sam haggar -v

    joe satriani -g

the guy from the red hot chili peppers - d

    mike anthony-b

  • what andyk10012 said

my friend plays bass and he says john has spider fingers

a great reach between the pinkey and index finger he was fantastic (john )

    peace and love

  • magically bored on a quiet street corner.....

    What a f8cking band!

  • Well, at least Entwistle played his own instrument and solo for this concert. What's up with Townsend on acoustic?!?

  • R.I.P. John!

  • & RIP Keith Moon!

  • and rest in peace john entwistle

  • It doesn't matter how many times I see this, I still can't believe Entwistle is really doing that. Jesus, it's like Van Halen.

The greatest rock bassist ever, no question.

  • the singer looks like the doctor from scrubs

  • "the singer" = Roger Daltrey. Kind of an important figure in Rock.

  • well said! Or a 'god' in rock!

  • lol. you mean doctor cox? lol i agree, but daltrey is better than cox any day

  • I am proud to have seen the ox!!!

no one will ever do what he did

for the bass guitar. he was a true original.

  • The OX has, will, and always will RULE!

  • FAN - [fookin] TASTIC, The OX, was the best, Mark KIng are ya watching.

  • Where was this filmed?

  • Monday Nov. 4, 1996, Wright State University, Dayton, OH.

  • Cool. Thanks.

  • that was a reply to wannabeangusyoung's comment. P.S. SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET THIS IN A CD, DVD, ANYTHING, PLEASE!!!!

  • It's a best bass solo performance I've ever seen. The sound is very good, but the rest...

Technnique and speed... Pleasure to hear

  • With that haircut Roger looks like Jerry Lee Lewis :P

  • great performance!

  • First of all, Geddy Lee is younger and I think he is strongly influenced by Entwistle (like many other great bass players).

  • Were f..k have i been .

  • Love this song, sing it to myself in the car nearly every night and some mornings when I really am "out of my brain on the 5.15"

  • the who rule

  • i typed 5 15 because that my birthday and look at that thiers a song by a great band. now whats this song about lol

  • darioulie89

    *cough*

-Maybe- you should see what I do for living ;)

(a hint) I'm a singer ...see my link

  • Nice stuff, too many band members, but nice stuff.

I prefer the 4 piece WHO.

  • well if you had any knoledge what so ever you would realize that you need that many people to play the complcated music of the who

  • well if you had any knoledge what so ever you would realize that you need that many people to play the complcated music of the who

  • Me, too! Well, Simon, Pino, Zak & Rabbit made a six piece Who, though.

  • I'm not a big who fan, but the guy playing the base is playing serious stuff! That aint NO joke. So many guys that can't play a guitar end up on base, but this guy looks like a great guitar player playing base. WOW.... Who is that guy????

  • This is John Entwistle (1944-2002),in my opinion the best, the most innovative and influential bass player in rock history.

  • most ppl think Geddy Lee from Rush is better...

but fucking hell...he's nowhere near Sir John Entwistle

    We all miss him dearly

  • Johns not knighted or anything,

  • i know :P

    felt like saying that xD

  • He deserves to be.

  • that roooooocks!

  • The horns in this song are badass

  • very impressive. the who kicks ass!

  • Look at that Bass !!!

  • Look at that bass player!!!

  • La mejor version de este concierto¡¡

  • Lead guitarist could be more dynamic. The rest, especially bass-brilliant.

  • this song is soooooooooooo flippin good with the big band. and the live improv bass solo's nice too of course

  • Girls of fifteen

    Sexually knowing

    The ushers are sniffing

    Eau-de-cologning

    The seats are seductive

    Celibate sitting

    Pretty girls digging

    Prettier women

    Great¡¡

  • increible the who!!john, roger, pete todavia vigentes, lastima que falte el mejor baterista de la historia el incomparable keith

  • Solamente, se puede describir como magnifico

  • i really like this with all the instruments like all the brass insstruments it sounds good only if pete was on lead!

  • The Ox rules!

  • Inside outside, leave me alone.

    Inside outside, nowhere is home.

Inside outside, where the fuck have I been?

Out of my brain on the five fifteen!

    Gotta love this song!

  • grande e mitico John Entwistle!!!! Sarai sempre unico!!!!!!!

  • keith = easily top 3 drummers ever. i can only think of john bonham who is close to him, but im not sure if bonham was better than moon, but they were both different. you could argue for both cases. as for john, no one comes near him except for maybe geddy lee of rush, but again they play completely different. my vote goes to john for best bassist. also for keith for best drummer. i love the who.

  • keith and john were two of the greastest musicians of all time didnt john win bassist of the century or something i cant remember i saw them in 2006 in toronto on my birthday and it was the best present ive ever gotten

  • I reckon John deserves Bassist of All Time.

  • @Gothic1982 John is the only bassist I've ever heard who plays the bass guitar as though it was a lead guitar. Pete has said of John that The Who actually had two lead guitarists, LOL!

  • who gave this less than 5 stars?

  • They must have clicked the wrong rating by mistake.

  • Why is it possible that such a guitar noob plays the lead guitar besides townshend and entwhistle?? Love the song

  • yeah, why wasn't Townshend on lead? who was that guy?

  • Isn't it Pete's Brother on guitar?

  • I believe it is!

  • yes hes also pretty bad

  • Please never say hella again.

  • I have that.

  • There will never be another Moonie but Zach will do

  • I swear I'll sell my balls and kill my mom to have Keith Moon back.

  • my fried egg makes me sick first thing in the morning :]

  • WHERE IS THE URL CODE FOR THIS VIDEO :S
