Well done! This chord melody style is very useful. It's derived from the major bebop scale: A B C# D E F F# G# (in your example). Pianists and brass arrangers use it a lot, in a style called "four-way close" (actually not possible on the guitar, the voicings are too close together). The voicings on the guitar are a little more open, but sound great all the same.
Hey man. Could i pleeease get that BT ? i really want to develop soloing over chords and stuff. im playing around with modal stuff. what else should i be practising on? thats hard to answer but :) Cheers. ur a great player!
@AzinGuitar Thank you! Actually, this particular BT is for the subscribers on my "2011 Summers special" only. You're more than welcome to join of course!:)
Jazz guitar is my guilty pleasure, I'm no where near your level but I long to possess your skills one day keep it up with the videos very inspiring to my guitar playing. Beautiful chord progressions, thank you!
@kostasjazz Absolutely! Pat and Frank are probably what's most obvious. But Many things sneek in, all from Gary Moore, Steve Vai, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Garrett, Tuck Andress, Wayne Krantz, Mike Stern, Scott Henderson, Larry Carlton.. I even did something in an improvisation recently that was clearly in a Satriani vibe! I'm just the melting pot! I have some custom spices of my own too though..;-)
You should totally write sections for guitar magasines, your lessons seem to give me more actual information and usefull stuff than what is in some magasines (I stopped buying them regularly because of this).
This months issue featured Steve Lukather in which he played a bunch of licks.......... that was it, very little to take away from the "lesson". Your videos have an actual topic/technique/idea, rather than the focus be on a bunch of licks.
khalid sheikh mohammed? Hope you can take a joke, nice playing.

Cool lesson. I sometimes use a minor chord whole step above (G# minor7 in this case) to harmonize dorian scale.
vecernicek2 7 months ago
@vecernicek2 Yeah, that works great too! Similarly, on this F# aeolian Bm7 and C#m7 would work too, would make it a bit more "pop":)

Gseckerfers 7 months ago
@Gseckerfers this guitar has the efx built in I think
TheHeraldic 7 months ago
@Gseckerfers in this vid it's a Ibanez Jemini Overdrive Pedal and a Carvin Legacy 2 amp. Plus some reverb and delay.
