  • Yes, little girl, you can be anything you want to be! You could be a housewife, or perhaps a housewife. Why, you could even be a HOUSEWIFE! With the Hasbro Rose Petal Cottage, the possibilities are endless! Now get back to your laundry like a good girl.

  • *Right to vote sold separately*

  • Laundry, Children, Cooking! ALL MY DREAMS OF NEVER LEAVING THE HOUSE CAME TRUE!

  • A place of her very own where she [...] can entertain her imagination - YAY! Let's do laundry!!! :D

  • Screw this. If I have a daughter, I'm going to take her camping... No daughter of mine will be programed to be a house wife.

  • I know my imagination is entertained while I'm doing laundry.

  • I believe the quote was "a place where she can entertain her imagination," not, "contain her imagination."

Although the latter is probably more accurate.

  • this is human conditioning... Setting a standard for females at a young age... "Entertain her imagination"???? wtf?? putting shit in the dryer is exploring her imagination? If you buy your child this fukin toy, your a fail parent, and limiting their development intellectually.

  • In the midst of intellectual discourse on institutionalized sexism, "Try my muffin it's really yummy?" please tell me it wasn't a script.

  • What a sexist load of crap! So girls can only have dreams of domesticity?

Bullshit! My wife, my sister, my daughter, and my mother would all like to take turns kicking the ad director in the pills.

  • So basicly this is saying all wiman are single raising the kid alone and always cleans :O Raisits

  • @darkdaisy306 degrating "wiman" is not "rasist" it's sexist T_T

    *facepalm*

  • @omarskats3000 You know, saying "T_T" and "*facepalm*" makes you sound just as ignorant as that person.

  • @MurderRouge that's not a very nice thing to say to someone. i think you need a hug *hug* :) please pass it on.

  • what i call this RIP OFF ya no why becus when i was four they gave me it AND NO WASHING MAISHENN oly one thig the home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That is what I have wanted sisnce I was 4 ! For some reason it feels like it's soo old.

  • glad us women have a place for our dreams to grow

  • That poor teddy bear was like "STFU"

  • aww thhats so cute

  • rofl, hilarious commercial, i feel its slightly sexist, i mean sure lots of girls love playing house and be pretend mommies and bake and do chores they see their moms do... but its the whole wording in it that is just so wrong "her dreams have room to grow" just seems wrong, replace the word "dream" with "imagination" and its already better lol .. but dreams? xD

  • idk why kids want this wene you can just hellp mom with the chores in a REAL house instead of pretending, i mean CMON! you gotta learn sometime and a fake house isent ganna hellp you learn wene its FUN

  • room to grow? then we need a garden xD

  • lmao a place in which she contain her imagination in the home cooking meals, washing clothes, taking care of a baby, arranging furniture in her home. LMAO this is the most sexist commercial i have ever seen in my life

  • i played with babies andplay houses when i was little cuz thats what my mom bought me and i liked it its a girly thing jeeeez ppl being girly is ok i got this 4 my lil girl she played in it but its in the closet now and shes in a tree with her bugbox they r who they r !!!!!♥toys they play with dont make a difference !!

  • "It's *her* place, where her dreams have room to grow."

...as long as she doesn't have aspirations that go any further than staying barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, that is!

  • @abracadaverous u r ridiculous then boys toys tools dreams of hammering wood in the heat no aspirations there train drivers blocks computers om g giv it up toys r toys

  • she doing the things her single mom dose

  • They wouldnt MAKE it if little girls didnt WANT it. Since when has a doll house become sexist? Youre inability to cook and clean does not mean being able to is sexist.

  • She sounds lonely, lol

  • Why didn't they have cool stuff like this when i was little? ;-;

  • awww the little girl is so cute lol

  • WTF? All the pink is hurting my eyes. Whoo hoo... dream big! Gee.. when you grow up you get to do LAUNDRY. Where's the vacuum cleaner?

I played with Breyer horses and went outside to run around as a little girl. I never could relate to this sort of stuff. Tom Boys like me can still grow up to have a house with laundry, but also horses. ;-)

  • Were those cupcakes REAL?

  • So she trains to be a house wife?

  • D: I wish i was little because I want one

  • i wanted this before

  • "a place where her dreams have room to grow"....nice, very nice (sarcasm)

  • i wish i had that when i was little sense my friends could never come over and i was always playing by myself

  • I just hate how you have to buy everything separate D<

  • Shes a single mom thats a homeowner. You go girl!

  • aaww she looks so cute playin that if i were like 5 i know i would have fun

  • Im 11 And would love to have this! i mean seriously im mature and i babysitt im sertivied in cpr but i think all girls have a maturnal need to want to be a mother and it doesnt go away untill you ARE a mother ok hasbro is bringing out grat futures in girl CHILL OUT PPL!

  • the thing itself isn't the problem, its the commercial, like every little girls dream is laundry and cooking. Imagine you were an aspiring astronaut as a 5 year old girl and your parents gave you this for your birthday because they assumed its what you wanted?

  • I think this is cool!! I think some of you people are overreacting. My girl cousin had something like this and enjoyed it. I think the point is, they see their mom doing laundry and making dinner and they want to pretend to be like mommy. But if a boy wanted something like this (and trust me there are some out there) then get it for them for Christmas!! I loved playing house as a really little kid. Playing like a grown up was a big deal to me, I couldn't wait to be a grown up.

  • @Goobian My mom didn't do laundry with a dopey narcotic smile on her face. My mom had an office and she told people what to do... where's the playset for that?

  • @zammmerjammer You can get a small sized office desk. Also a cash register, all sorts of play work toys out there. Also ATM machines that are kid sized. All kids commercials show them overly happy it's part of the advertising.

  • @Goobian My point is I see the obnoxiously pink homemaker playset for girls. Where is the lawyer playset? Where is the pilot playset? Those are things I ACTUALLY aspired to be as a little girl.

From the looks of this commercial the past 100 years never happened. Poor show.

  • @zammmerjammer I am a lesbian, I get your point. But I also know kids and I feel over thinking this makes the kids suffer. If they want a dollhouse or a kitchen playset like this one, so be it. If I had a son and he wanted this I would think about getting it for him. I don't think parents force their children to get playsets like this the kid asks for it for their birthday or Christmas. I played with Army men as well as barbies until I found my identity. It's a part of life.

  • That kid sounds sedated.

  • I would have thrown a fit if someone bought this for me. I hated girly BS even as a small child. Some friend of the family got me a little red purse and I REFUSED to touch it.

People, buy your girls books and science kits.

But I thought "Try my muffin. It's really yummy" was funny... because I'm a sicko.

  • This is so cute!! I wish I would've had this when I was little.

There is nothing wrong with little girls, and even little boys, playing in a little house and pretending to cook and clean.

It's a lot better for them than watching tv or playing video games because it helps them with their creativity and imagination.

  • Contain her imagination? What is that supposed to mean if anything I would love to expand it.

  • @JRO1646 It litterally means that its meant to mold your daughter into thinking that being a single mom cooking and cleaning in a small house is something fun and an exciting thing to aspire to.

In other words,Its so it can teach your daughter to be a stay at home mom. Thats what they litterally said.

  • if i had that i would feel like a demented barbie

  • the girl is so cute!

  • It's incredibly cute. However, that little girl sounds like she's on quaaludes.

  • you know when your getting older when the notice the kitchen around the house than the actual house lol

    geez thats a nice kitchen

  • Does no-one realise how sexist this ad is! Everyone is saying "how cute." I'm currently doing a uni paper about the negative effect this has to youth. It's not cute!!!

  • @Max1man11 actually my little brother would love this.

  • so cute!

  • Wow, just look at those dreams of laundry and baking muffins!

  • thats so a adorable!!1

  • what did he post??

  • LOL

Have a muffin there really good!

The bear just stares at her XD

  • I used to want one of them soooo bad when i was little :)

  • Who wants to take bets that 'anti feminist' is divorced by 22 with 3 kids she can't support?

  • i always wanted a little house to play in with like lifesize things that looks not so cool cuz its open but a closed one would be cool

fyi im 13 and still want one! :D hehe

  • i have too

  • Anyone else here find the first few scenes of the commecial to be a bit creepy?

    "CoMe On In!!"

    "Taste my muffin...its so yummy!!"

  • haha your comment made my day

  • When I was a kid I played with ninja turtles action figures. Now I'm a ninja turtle!

  • lol i still want one but im 10 so im a little to old!

  • i wish i had that when i was little so bad! i would love it sooo much! i remember when i saw that camershall (i dont know how to spell that lol!) i wanted it so bad it looked so fun! ( and im 9 now not as old as u think!)

  • Where is the Archie Bunker chair where her husband can sit and drink beer all day while she does all the "womanly" duties?

  • my sister has one and she sleeps in it and has partys and its so cute cuz she acts exactly like my mom and she also has cherry blossom stores and she made me help her put up help wanted signs and igot a job its so fun to play with her!!!!

  • I wish my mom was like that when I was a tot xD

I used to want one sooo bad!!!

  • TADAAA!!

    Me: ....... *BURNS*

  • Damn i wish they had this when i was little. I LOVED playsets like those.

  • My G.I. Joes and I would have loved to have a tea party in this playhouse.

  • I would have had so much fun with this when I was little....'course, I would have been spinning the cupcakes in the washing machine and baking the teddy bear, but i still would have had fun.

  • @Proudgeek8 jaja! yeah that wold be strange! lol

  • @Proudgeek8 I laughed at the `bake the teddy` thing. No offence, but I thought it was a bit funny.

  • @Proudgeek8 ahahahah i wanna see a real toddler do that with a real oven and a real washing machine!

  • @Proudgeek8 Maybe baking a teddy bear is a bad idea.

  • Geez, I think some people need to lighten up. I graduated with honors from Harvard and am a corporate VP now, and I still would have LOVED this playhouse when I was a little girl. Sure, I was programming computers when I was 8 too, but there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a little girl playing house or even a television ad that *gasp* portrays a little girl ENJOYING playing house.

    LIGHTEN. UP.

  • Agreed. I played with toy food, dolls, did dress-up, etc. I would have LOVED this toy. I'm a college student now, studying English and Asian Languages, and while I DO love cooking, I'm in no way scarred .

  • I love playing with my neighbor. She always has the cutest play house stuff.... Its usually all fun till she runs screaming " the dragons coming! throw the baby in the closet!"

  • i played with power rangers. no offence, but my morpher and pink power bow were way more badass than this.

  • There's also nothing that says boys can't play with this as well.

  • @LauraM1970 What you didn't dream big of doing laundry and making pretend cupcakes? Think good thing you didn't have this as a little girl and instead were programming on computers, plus got the opportunity to go to Harvard. Someone dreamed big for you, I think.

Heck, the Mommy in this video should at least go make real cupcakes with the little girl. Let her help do real laundry. This is bogus.

  • aww i wish i was a kid again !! bk when i was young we had crap toys nw that i am 19 i see cool toys 4 kids lol

  • hay eso si lo compraria aun ya de grande esta muy lindo

  • Little Girls smell like Peppermint

  • wow im surprised at all the people freaking out over this.. i understand that pushing little girls into the stereotypical housewife ideal is not good.. but to me it just seems like a fun place to "play house" like kids do.. besides, all the furniture is optional anyway =P

  • We've gone MAD (girls can't be girls?)

  • I hear ya. See comment above

  • OH MY GOSH! im 10 and i see something wrong hear i agree with

    feminst295

    on page 7 :, D

  • ok, how old is the little girl? 2? because it sounds like a 2 year old's voice.

  • this is incredibly sexist.

  • the mom is kinda weird

  • the mom looks like shes 15! wait, i guess thats realistic these days

  • LOL. Win

  • Oh yes, doing laundry really fires the imagination.

  • Its amazing. . . she can cook, clean, AND clean your damned clothes. . . and all before she can probably spell her name. . . wow. . . :P

  • "...contain her imagination"

    "Let's do laundry!"

That is one creative little girl. :(

  • lovely. she can hardly manage to articulate a sentence, yet she knows how to operate a washing machine. just lovely.

  • Why did youtube recommend me this video?

  • "A place where her dreams have room to grow..." Until they reach the perimeter of the kitchen. After all, we wouldn't want our daughters to break the glass ceiling!

This commercial scares the shit out of me!

  • me too!!!

  • "let's do the laundry" freakin hilarious

  • depressing. i guess she'll be landing herself a man, right?

  • She's probably already engaged. Thank hasbro for teaching her how to take care of her husband while she's still young and innocent!

  • lawls... i sure hope you're joking.

  • ArionaMew (if you are real) you need psychological help. I will laugh when your husband cheats on you because you got fat.

  • The bear: "she wants me to taste her muffin?!"

  • You know, I would have adored that toy when I was a kid.

But now? All I can do is be sick that they've included every feminine stereotype in the book.

  • Wow. Just wow. It's like an ad from the 50's. 'Hasbro: teaching your daughters to be mindless drudges since 1923.' It's like a really lame dystopia.

  • im a gurl.. and I love this!

  • Thank goodness you're a "gurl" and not a girl, then.

  • i wish men could be more like that little girl D:

that way i can yell at men to bring me some gourmet cooking and do my laundry :P

  • Don't ask me, I'm just a girl, tee hee!

  • Haha, love the Malibu Stacy comparison. Funny and accurate.

  • Jesus Christ that lil doll house is bigger than my fuggin dorm

How much does rent on one of those things cost?

  • Gender roles

  • ah yes when i have a girl i'll get her a dollhouse which has just a laundry room, a kitchen, and a baby room

  • XD lmao

  • "containing her imagination" *does laundry*

  • " COME ON IN " lmao thats kinda kreepy!

  • where her dreams have room to grow? to decorate and do laundry? oh good Lord. this is straight out of the 50s.

  • sick

  • When things stop being sexist we'll stop talking about it!

  • How fucking sexist is that?

  • "Where her dreams have room to grow"... into the stereotypical woman who is expected to do all the domestic duties in a household!

Great! Just what our young women should be exposed to.

  • Why did someone give me negative? Because women should be whatever they want? Fuck you to the asshole who gave me negative.

  • I bet you are one of those lazy bitches who think women should only be housewives. Nothing admirable about pushing girls to be housewives.

  • I am reporting you to YouTube. You are a sleazy pornographer that rapes children. Sick fuck.

  • Well, miss, I am reporting you to the internets! You...you should work in politics. We will see who has greater authority!

  • Not to be confused with actually doing something, but like Sarah Palin. See what happens when you take a woman and pluck her out of her natural habitat??

  • Stay off Youtube, and go back to school. When you pass the fifth grade come back and maybe we'll talk to you.

  • You're kidding, Right?

  • hahah! Start them out right! In the fucking kitchen and doing my fucking laundry bitch! Iron my shirt too you whore!!!

  • And what are your jobs, exactly? Drinking, moaning, and groaning? Getting fat and overweight? Oh, sounds interesting. -sarcasm-

Seriously, grow up. Women don't have to please a man to be whole.

  • Obviously that's your domain since you keep bitching and moaning. How about you spend more time in school?

Women do all the aforementioned, as well as men. They teach you that in SCHOOL, something you desperately need.

  • Dominate? In order to dominate someone has to submit, and I see no one submitting.

Look who is begging for more. Get a life. You know you are wrong, and you can't even come up with something original. How pathetic. Oh, sorry, did I hurt your ego? Get over it.

  • No, actually. Because you just drove my point all the way home. I've see you've brushed up on your grammatical skills since the first time we chatted. Now you need to go to finishing school to work on your social skills.

Who is "they" exactly? Your imaginary friends?

  • oh just shut up

  • Kam1kazy sent me a lovely message stating he hoped I was raped and that he had sexual thoughts about children. He's the lowest of the low and should be banned on YouTube.

  • Did he really? Report the bastard. Better yet, contact the FBI. Sexual thoughts about children should not be taken lightly.

  • I reported him to YouTube and sent them his charming (sarcasm) website. It was very disturbing and I don't accept child pornography for any reason.

  • good, thanks for reporting him

  • I burst out laughing when the little girl was like "Try my muffin, it's really yummy"

I'm really bad, I know, but I couldn't help it!!

  • this girl is a retard

  • This cottage is so cute and fun for my little girl hope they come out with more of this stuff

  • kinda cute

  • ok this is sexist think about it

     come on in

    and shes holding a baby

try my muffin its really yummy

containher imagination and a special firned or two?

  • Voice over:"Entertain her imagination"

    Girl: "Let's do laundry!"

Sad. I just want to yell "GO OUTSIDE!!"

  • I guess there is no boys because, well, all I can say was befor I turned 6,and learned the magic of playing sports,I used to think boys were "yucky" and "gross" and now there my best friends.I think its for like litttle girls AND boys but they just dont show boys in doll and play house commercials, because really?what little boy wants to play,"dolly"?my bro never played dolls or house with me only my sisters so ugghhhhhhh I dnt know where i am going with this!!!!!!!!!!
