I agree with bretto 40, don't know why they stopped this bikes production, this bike is rapid, you don't even need to drop a gear for it to go, yeh the suspension can be a bit iffy but what bike isn't, but I've never had a problem with the handling with tightening up the suspension, and a couple of micro can's for sounds, and yeh- it's poss they'll be a collectors one day, I think the TLR is an underdog in the r1, gixxer 1000 world but I love an underdog ; )
The only reason the TLS had bad reports is because it was the first bike of that type. Of course they were going to get it wrong, slightly. A friend of mine still has his though, and he's never had a problem.
really the only bad thing about the TLs and TLR is the rake and trail are a little out of whack, giving the bike a squirrelly feeling at moderate to high speed corners, but they are amazing other than that
I have a Y2K Tiller.. I looked for three months for this baby and have had it for over 2 years now. I was tossing up there for a while about a Gixer but like the R1, every tom, dick and harry has one. The bike has done well over 90,000km but with a couple of mods and an oil change every 3000km she still wants to stand up in first and second. Next year she is getting the 1140cc big bore kit that should take her to 150hp plus. Cant wait.. she is a keeper!
No dangerous than any other bike. Don't be fooled by bad press re: the '97 TLS ONLY... those problems did not come through on the TLR.
Yes the rotary damper rear end is crap, but When I had the rotary damper I adjusted it to suit me and it was great. I then replaced it with a Bitubo unit and now it's handling is heavenly by comparison.
28hourslater, not that you'll ever read this, but I'll put it up for other people.
The TLR will become (is) a collecters bike because 1) They are no longer in production, 2) some unique design features (such as the nose fairing that sticks out the front more than any other bike, but looks great and unique) 3) They OOOZ character that many other bikes just don't (engine, looks, experience)
i ride a gixxer 600, my mate let me have a go on his tl (big jump). the bike is just absolutly brutal, you need to treat them tl's with respect, cos they,ll bite you quicker that you can blink if you dont
The reason why this bike will one day become a collectors bike is cos it was so fucken dangerous - lovely motor, shitful handling - all the hallmarks of a collectors bike

Handling can be cured easly ... Ride it hard. It only becomes a problem if you dont force it to do your bidding ... ;-)
