In addition, WNBC did not always have a 12:00 newscast in the first place. Originally, NBC programming (i.e., "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune") would air in that timeslot instead.

Yeah, they only had the midday (or noon, depending on the year you think of) newscast for about 6 months in 96 or 97, I believe.
