The Tuck rule clearly states "If the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble." last time I checked the player completes the tuck when two hands are back on the ball. This was called wrong and the officials stole this game from the Raiders.

guys, it was the RIGHT call to a GOOD rule. mike pereira explains the rule very well. if i am attempting a pass and my arm is coming forward and i get hit, then it is an incomplete pass. but you have to say as long as the arm is coming forward, even to tuck, it is still a pass attempt. otherwise the referees have an impossible job of judging if the quarterback is passing or pumping. when his arm is at 90 degrees, is he passing? 105 deg? 180? the tuck rule is necessary in eliminating gray area
@zporiri when you watch the clip you can clearly see that Brady has finished his pump fake motion, he was cradling the ball with both hands. You can't be in any sort of "throwing motion" when you're holding the ball with both hands. The rule makes sense but this specific instance was clearly a FUMBLE. The Pats knew it, and Brady most certainly knew it.

guys, it was the RIGHT call to a GOOD rule. mike pereira explains the rule very well. if i am attempting a pass and my arm is coming forward and i get hit, then it is an incomplete pass. but you have to say as long as the arm is coming forward, even to tuck, it is still a pass attempt. otherwise the referees have an impossible job of judging if the quarterback is passing or pumping. when his arm is at 90 degrees, is he passing? 105 deg? 180? the tuck rule is necessary in eliminating gray area

@zporiri when you watch the clip you can clearly see that Brady has finished his pump fake motion, he was cradling the ball with both hands. You can't be in any sort of "throwing motion" when you're holding the ball with both hands. The rule makes sense but this specific instance was clearly a FUMBLE. The Pats knew it, and Brady most certainly knew it.

You can clearly see BOTH of brady's hands are on the ball when the fumble is forced...therefore he was completely done "pump faking" I hate dumb people like you, it's easy to say oh it was the right call when you are a f4g patriots fan. the tuck call was the worst call in the history of the nfl, the refs new they still had to walk to there car after the game,and also realized that there wasnt enough police and security in thr stadium to up hold the play as a fumble. the t.v. and the boston anounsers even realized and called it a fumble when it happened...oh well hasnt been the 1st time the raiders were cheated out of advancing to the conferrence championship game (see 72 raider/steeler playoff game).

If I were a Raiders fan, I wouldn't be as mad at the officials as I would my own team sulking around and giving up after a call that went against them. I'm also not sure why the Raiders would take a kneel with :22 left despite having decent field position (their own 35) and two timeouts. You're only about 40 yards out of FG range - worth a shot considering that you might lost the coin toss in OT and never get another possession.

This isn't the "Snow Bowl" this is the "Snow Job". Sure the "tuck" rule was in place but no one ever heard of it until that night. That was simply ridiculous and if you don't think there is a conspiracy against the Raiders, you only need to look at the history of calls. Time after time, you cannot simply call it a conspiracy when it's obviously a reality. I have no question that the Raiders would have beat the Rams in the Super Bowl that year.

That bogus made-up call gave Oakland a first and goal at the one and Oakland took a 24-21 lead on a TD with 10 seconds left. It happens both ways, does the rule suck? I was in my apartment, three miles away, when they played this game. Usually, I could hear the crowd when they cheered loudly, but after the final field goal, I opened my window and heard nothing. The snow absorbed all the sound.
