  • Thumbs up if cold hard nostalgia brought you here.

  • PONY TAKEOVER

  • The Song of Syhlex

  • lemmywinks!

  • My 2 year old sisters had the choice between the hobbit (1977) and My Little pony (2011). They chose the hobbit. I have never been more proud in my life.

  • Lemiwinks!!!

  • My father has this on vinyl, we used to listen to it all the time when we were kids :D

  • can you tell me where i can get this sound track? or download it? i have loved this movie ever since i was a kid and just love listening to these songs and would really like um! :D

  • As a youngster, I had a record with the story from the Hobbit that featured the voices and sound effects from the movie. I'm looking for a copy of that. Anyone know where I can find one? Apparently, it's rarer than these songs!

  • I TOTALLY JUST FOUND THIS ON VINYL AT A RECORD STORE AND BOUGHT IT.

  • THANK YOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been looking for these songs FOREVER!!

  • I don't care what anybody thinks but this was the best movie I ever saw!

  • This guy singing was also in a folk group call the Limelighters, I remember that voice anywhere. My parents gave us that record when I was a kid and I loved it...as uncool as that might be now...

  • @raygellenbeck Bleagh, don't listen to anyone who'd say it's "uncool", 'cause chances are they're some selfish dolt obsessed with fitting into a crowd that would never really accept them.

  • They need to put this soundtrack on iTunes

  • 3 people's adventures turned out to be "The Worst Adventure Ever".

  • the new Hobbit movie would be //even more// epic if they included a few tracks from this version

  • The Hobbit brought me here.

  • The Hobbit > LotR

  • Gollum looks like an Dinosaur

  • Ah man, just listening to these songs is making me get all misty-eyed. This movie was probably one of the sole biggest influences on me as a small child. I used to borrow it from the local library every chance I got and watch it endlessly. If it wasn't for this, I never would have gotten into Tolkien or fantasy in general. It may be rather late, but thank you for uploading these.

  • @Figmentation I had the EXACT same experience. I only wanted to see the LOTR movies because I had rented the Hobbit movie and book from the library. Excellent film. Excellent book

  • Thank you very much for posting these. This album really brings back some good childhood memories and is very hard to find.

  • my dad has this movie... it scratched up though :( we watched it all the time

  • Don't know about you guys but this films version of Gollum is scarier than Peter Jacksons.

  • @N00bDyke I can agree with that since I saw this film at a very young age. Just listening to Gollum utter riddles to Bilbo Baggins freaked me out from that film.

  • december 2012.... the Hobbit is the last thing we see!

  • Chessey movie you better read the book before watching this movie and also watch or read lotr it gives a better appreciation

  • I think it's a shame that south park lemmiwinks had to bring you guys here. This was one of my favoirte movies when I was little and I still love it. (I'm still angry at WB tho for messing with it when they put it to dvd)

  • @ShadowDancer00 God yes. Was extremely disappointed when I noticed the Sting sound effects were gone, among others.

  • Thumbs up if The Hobbit brought you here and not South Park.

  • @ConRyan107 I thumbs up! :) however I think the South Park renditions are hilarious, and I enjoy them both lol

  • @ConRyan107 HECK YEAH :P

    :D

  • I remember the week's TV Guide paperback *any of you know that? and a section about this adaptation in 1977. Damn, I had read The Hobbit a few months earlier. I should've kept that issue (damn) and I was so impressed with the art, the photo shown was of, I think, Bilbo hanging on to one of the Eagles of the West's leg (they're actually requested by the Valar in the Undying Lands to rescue Frodo and Sam)

  • sometimes make believe so 210% better then real life someone should probably tell him that lol

  • thumbs up if you knew this song before south park :P

  • (:') Lemmiwinks...so brave. *sniff*

  • Thumbs up if a catatafish brought you here.

  • my friend who loved this movie and south park brought me here. I can't imagine how much funnier it was to already know this song to then see it on south park.

  • Carry onward Lemmiwinks!

  • @TruthfulPaper People thought I was stupid saying the Lemmiwinks song was making fun of this. Well I'm glad that I'm not alone in the universe! *Brofist*

  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! This started my love of the fantastic of playing in the yard with my brothers and cousins and my love of reading. This is so nostalgic. There is nothing now that can measure up to the simplistic and complex beauty of JRR Tolkien. Thank you.

  • YYou are no ordinary gerbil Lemiwinks. You are the Gerbil King!

  • Thumbs up if Lemiwinks brought u here..

  • @Lunaaticz We Win. The Hobbit is far greater than the song of a rat put in Mr. Slave's butthole.

  • @Lunaaticz I thumbed you down... I searched for the song cuz I just saw the cartoon ha ha ha

    :D

  • When I was like...8 or 9, I would watch this movie with my brothers, because I was always afraid of watching it by myself when Gollum came on :P but the music in it is just brilliant, and in my teen years I have come to love this song soo much, and have definitely taken its message to heart.

  • @4271Dreamer Oh, Gollum was nothing compared to the first appearance of the goblins.

  • @4271Dreamer That Gollum gave me nightmares for a long time.

  • lemmywings the gerbo king!

  • There's a subtle irony that the singer speaks poorly of the "man who's a dreamer and thinks of a world that is just make believe" and yet in order to have these books we needed a man did exactly that.

  • @Kross2099 I think the singer is more referring to those who don't go out and experience life and rather sit in all day and dream of it. All great writers have struggled and gone through their own "greatest adventure". What makes a great writer is someone who has been through hardships and has enough insight on it now to take from the struggle and tell others about it. J.R.R Tolkien served in WW1 and it probably helped him a lot with the themes in his writing.

  • @Kross2099 Tolkien served in the British infantry, in the horrific, brutal (as all wars are) World War I.

  • this movie was one of the first fantasy movies of my childhood, hell this song i remember even without hearing it for so many years

  • smaug isnt fucking greeen....??

  • @Slaytallidethrax1 Not sure why he is on the soundtrack cover...but who cares his voice was awesome

  • LEMMIWINKS

  • Epic ^^

  • i remember watching this as a kid and it was just as magical as it is now ...

  • Smaug and Gollum saw this.

  • LEMMEWINKS Leeeemmewinks....

  • Yes love this song.

  • this song is great... but whats up with bilbo in this picture here? he's ugly as sin! I know he didn't look like that in the cartoon, so what gives?

  • @MrPJD18

That is an early design for Bilbo that the Rankin-Bass animators came up with. When they actually got around to making the movie, they realized how ugly it was and changed it. However, that design somehow managed to find itself into promotional artwork (this record cover, posters, etc.) I had a poster for the movie in my bedroom when I was very young (my mother put it there) using this design.

  • lol, lemmiwinks theme

  • Just watched this Yesterday again. Its better everytime.

  • @XSonicAdventureX Great Movie with music by a true Bard

  • this song is so hard to find. its not on amazon or wal-mart. it a great song

  • I watched this movie twice last night. So many childhood memories. ;u;

  • Wonderful. Didn't even know this score was available or existed at all. Thanks ever so much. A great 'ol school' animated rendition (however stylized) of this story with some great character portrayals - specially Gollum. Found it again luckily enough on DVD a few years ago. Great.

  • nice song to listen to when summer is soon to be, but in general, it is a pretty epic and meaningful song

  • I want this played at my funeral in the years to come.

  • this book changed litterature for ever.

  • how the fuck can someone dislike this????

  • basically defined my life

  • I LOVED THE SONG AND THE MOVIE!!!!!!!

  • They should use it in the 2012 live action remake.

  • @Xpac1234567 It's not a remake. It's just another adaptation.

  • They need to put this on CD and cassette

  • holy shit i never would have imagined that this is what inspired the lemmiwinks theme song.

  • Lemmiwinks !!!!

  • I love this song, it's so Rankin/ Bass.

  • Smaug disliked this video.

  • Great song, great movie. One of the best animated films ever made, in my opinion. Old school Rankin & Bass rocked (just look at Thundercats).

  • Wow, the artwork on Bilbo is bad on that cover. At least the music is good.

  • Thank you for uploading this. I laugh, I cry, it moves me dude.

  • has anyone downloaded this soundtrack to an itunes yet i cant get it from the site to down load for some reason i want the full soundtrack please help me :D

  • If I ever kill myself I want this played on loop as I lay in a pool on my own blood...

Dont know why... just... Feels epic for some reason.

  • 1 goblin does not appreciate the pure awesomeness that is this song.

  • Many might laugh at these after watching Jackson's version. I still find these little cartoons very touching and a great tribute to Tolkien! Epic!

  • @BANZITOMMY If Jackson kept the language his movies would have been awesome.

  • Awesome song, i loved this movie since i was a kid and introduced me to Tolkein and i read the books when i was 12 and enjoyed the other animated LOTR movies but now the live-action LOTR movies blew me away and the PJ directed Hobbit movie will rule.

  • Sounds like the Lemiwinks song from South Park xD

  • @TheBambuchaboy lol the Lemiwinks song is based off of this actually.

  • After hearing this song id grab my plastic sword and a cape (a towel XD) have my own hobbit adventures.

  • reminds me of my childhood :)

  • This is one powerful song <3

  • Thanks so much for this! The quality is great, and the versions are different from the film!

  • There must be 1 goblin who isn't happy that there are no goblins on the cover.

  • I have this double album with the poster and the irons still in the box it came in. I've been looking for this on cd for years. Can all this be found in MP3 format possibly-with the songs/dialogue just like this set? It's the entire film on records.

  • I would love it! Would it be possible for you to send it to me?

Thank you for posting all the lovely lovely tracks!!

    God bless!

  • Bilbo looks like a Mister Toad or the toad fellow from the Drak Pack. He also looks like one of those goblins. One wonder Treebeard and the orc slaver though the hobbits were.

  • Wow, this really brings it back. Whenever I'd watch this cartoon as a kid, I'd get serious chills during the "will never know passion! will never know pain!" part. I'm twenty years old now, and as it turns out, I still get chills.

  • Oh please...i would like this soooooooo much!!!!

  • god I love this song so so much

  • I love the song but the cover is hidous.

  • God, I finish the Hobbit and I want a little quality animation, and instead I get the music that inspired Lemmiwinks.

  • @Twinsais lolz

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GlennReturns yay!!! thank you sooo much for the link!!! *squeal with much glee*

  • @GlennReturns OMG!!!!!!!!!!! where did you get this?!?!?!? where can i find it?

  • @giroroizmylove I bought this record on ebay for like 5 bucks. They don't sell it cd or tape or anything. but i got it on record, and transfered it to my ipod.

  • Quality! they just dont make em like they used to.

  • supremely ironic, considering

  • CLASSIC...

  • such beauty...so inspiring...what a wonderful wonderful skillful man to write such beautiful books and at the same time such beautiful songs.

  • @Topgeneral3070 Tolkien didn't write this song, per se. But he did write the other ones.

  • beautiful! I love the movie and the song. can anybody post the lyrics?

  • OH JETHUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!

  • This song was my favorite part of the movie . . .

  • Now if you found the one for the Return of the King soundtrack, I would love you forever.

  • I think it's kind of funny, yet sad how back in the day alot of the movies had meaning, especially movies like this, ah, makes me feel old, heh

  • my mom told me she would kill me if I even hummed the tune to this song

  • @silvermetal324 what's that supposed to mean

  • Always loved this soundtrack and animation, Thank you!

  • i love this song :))

  • LEMMYWINKS!!!!!!

  • @gennaromolo u been reading FAQ Dude!!!

  • lovley beautifull, hundred of childhood memories, its so perfect! thanks alot for this! :)

  • This song is so great! I like the movie so much, so i could listen this hundreds of times!! :D

  • The song is more than just beautiful and epic. It has a good and just moral that engraves itself into our minds, telling us to live. Some people actually take that lesson to heart.

In a way, this song in it's own small part has changed the world.

  • @TheLordmep no one could have said it better :)

  • @TheLordmep I totally agree!

  • @TheLordmep really?

look, I love this movie as much as anybody, but come on, man. who, beyond the hundred or so people who have seen it, has possibly heard the song for it to have "changed the world"???

  • Does anyone know if this is available on CD, not just vinyl? I love this soundtrack and movie!!

  • this song is awesome and beautiful.

  • Lemmiwinks Ftw (and i still think this is epic too)

  • totally EPIC.

  • @Luckyhoshi123 I wouldn't really call the song epic. It's a grand tune, but not exactly epic. It's just the opening to a fantastic story.

Heartwarming and inspiring, for sure. Just not... epic.

  • epic.

  • My word. Nostalgia crits you for 10k.

Thank you for this upload. :)
