  • thanks for the help this REALLY REALLY helps, i got one of these when 4 years ago and because of the tiny tiny little 4gb ssd i cant really do anything to it, i even though of hard modding that damn pc to HDD becuase i though ssd is build in and it cant be removed (dont see any hdd in there) until 3 hr ago when i blow off the dust and try to install ubuntu on it. Big help thanks again.

  • my favourite pc / still hte best pc in the world

  • Where did you get the hard drive? I am needing one to replace a 20 but all I get in searches are battery replacements.

  • how much did this cost?

  • i want to install a diffrent os, inbox me please

  • i bought mine from woot too

  • that os is absolutely fucking crap

  • i had a 8 gig ram laying around so i tied to put it in my eee pc 900 worked but i could onley use 2

  • Unfortunately I discovered, after folowing theese instructions, that this is the D drive, not the C. As the worefully inadequate 4GB C drive is the default and has been the source of all my difficulty with this little machine, replacing the hard drive as described here was no help at all.

  • @4demolition

Actually, just reinstall the OS on the SSD. Noob.

  • thank you for the instructions

  • im told the 900 has a celeron at 900Mhz? is this true?? also im glad i can upgrade to 2GB ram but what about the battery? the one i've seen is 4-cell is there a 6-cell ?

  • help installing winxp on new hard drive. I made the change, have the original CD that came with it. What I do next?

  • Thanks, for the video. I just installed the RAM and HD as I followed along!

  • @Grailquest22 thanks...feedback is always welcome!

  • I have done this exact same thing! wOOt, 2GB RAM, 16GB SSD. I can't get the BIOS to read any of the drives to install an OS. I have Ubuntu 9 and XP. I have tried an SD card in the slot, a 16GB thumb drive, an external CD and HDD... Nothing works. Finally had to reinstall my 4GB SSD with Eebuntu.

  • I have the same wOOt special. I JUST was able to get the BIOS updated tonight. You must use a USB with FAT16 (I couldn't get Fat , or Fat 32 to work) I found that the old 256 USB use FAT 16. Also make sure you use the USB on the left side port. Power up and wait the first screen to to start coming up and hit F2 until its starts recognizing the USB and begins downloading the BIOS. Hope that helps. After that I just followed the video for updating to 2gb RAM and 16GB HD.

  • Thank you! I wound up using the CD that came with the Eee pc to create a boot USB. So I still have Eebunto (which I really don't like) but at least it's SOMETHING.

  • Install ubuntu 9.10 on it, you will love your netbook so much more, make sure to install ubuntu restricted extra once you installed it.

  • Buying mine now!

  • Hey Im getting this computer how many gbs does it start with?

  • 4 on most models

  • great video - can you tell me what kind of ram you bought? I assume any 2gb DDR2 SODIMM, but not sure about the ram speed - are pc4200 (533mhz) and pc5300(667 mhz) both supported with the latest bios update?
