I love love this movie! first time I watched it, it was like 2am when it ended, I couldn't stop crying neither fall asleep because of this one scene. "like the disciples of Emmaus, Christ passes us by, walks with us and we don't recognize Him" pray for us Padre Pio!
Actually since the one that has been killed had a german accent it's more probable that he was a nazi and the other guys were partisans(you can notice that they don't wear a uniform). In Italy in 1944/45 when the war was ending there were Mussolini's troops,Nazi troops and italian people that wanted to get rid of them both who were partisans (humble people like peasants and farmers that wanted to fight).

this part of the movie is so powerful. the power and mercy as well as the love of god. this movie should be essential viewing for any one who wants or needs to learn about saint padre pio.
Wow. I liked the twist in this segment. For some reason, I'm having a hard time blaming the Jurgen Prochnow character for behaving in such a cowardly way. Those partisans were probably Communists; they'd have needed very litle encouragement to burn down the church, along with everyone in it. If I'd been in the priest's shoes, I might have turned chicken myself.
I am not Catholic, But watching this amazing showof pure love and complete Faith is our Father God, My faith has been restored in more ways that one. God is the Father of us all and in Him we must trust as He alone holds our hearts and lvies in his Glorious hands, He will lead the way..We just have to follow into His home. God bless you for giving us a story to renew my belief and Faith in the One that created us all. God Bless You.
