im really interested in all that's going on right now but it's a little hard to understand because i really don't know enough about the crimes commited by the bush administration, the economy, the war, our relationships with other countries, etc.

does anyone know of any good books, websites, or what have you that would help me to get more informed?

Obama last week had one of his talking heads say he wasn't going to prosecute; & in his own words, "..nothing will be gained by spending out time & energy laying blame for the past"

However, with more revelations & public dissent, he had to back-peddle

If he wanted to make right, he would prosecute from the TOP down - Blaming only the lawyers allows compartmentalization of the issue away from top & room for legal wrangling to dump the issue

Gonzales gave a judgeship to Jay C. Bybee in exchange for writing a recommendation for torture; Bybee was given the judgeship for justifying war crimes! And when he did that, he got the judgeship!

The Administration is like a Mob Outfit where you have the CIA destroying innumerable tapes of torture & then investigating itself

Its like America is given tours of the crime scene, but no one is going to be arrested for the crime!

I think the ACLU should start by calling for the US government to denounce FDR and apologizing for his administrations war crimes and detaining American citizens without cause. Or would that be just a little too much to ask? The ACLU is a cowardice organization that plays politics for donations. shameful.

Working w/civil rights attorney Wayne Collins, the Northern California ACLU was one of the few American groups openly opposing the Japanese internment while it was happening. Collins was the head prosecutor in Korematsu v United States, the Supreme Court case that challenged the constitutionality of the detention. Google it.

Watching the press conf. just now...hearing that Obama has decided not to release the photos...

This is what i took from that conference:

They won't release the photos because they pose a threat to the troops AND national security...but they don't believe that this could or should interfere with any investigations going on...

I think they're saying the photos are soooo bad that were they released to the world...oh my, anti-americanism would absolutely go nuts...

Just my take.

Well, if you don't have age going for you (like 30 years of political memories...lol) then i would highly suggest google, and not in a superficial way.

I don't have a very good memory, so i google specifics and find all kinds of actual articles written back in the day...all kinds...and from good publications too...it takes time...but if you look, you will find...and go to MANY sources...critical thinking is key and figuring out the agenda of each writer is key also.

In other words, antidoter, (love the handle), when you google a specific topic and you get the first page of 20 entries...try to look up several...INCLUDING ones which may appear to offer an opposing viewpoint. You can't get at the truth if you don't look at both sides of the fence and hear all the arguments. Some make better arguments than others...some lie more than others...some have a more obvious slant...etc...

The problem is maybe that the people do speak out, but today they do this in internet forums or on YouTube but not on the streets but most politicians just don't see that and still treat YouTube like it was a classical one way medium, even Obama and other people who are considered more progressive.

They obviously still haven't arrived in the 21st century.
