I've found 2 comments on a Toyota-users chat board to the effect that after 2005, this method of programming the ECM doesn't work, and that we're stuck to getting ripped by locksmiths or dealers. Nor have I yet found anyone reporting success using this "pedal dance" for later model Toyotas... ugh. Still, worth investing in an aftermarket transponder key and trying, and will report my results, for a 2010 Yaris.
I tried this today but no joy. the problem I had was that the brake pedal gets rock hard after first press and release. has anyone had similar experience?
@interactiveleaf Yes, not a button but a switch. Often times you have two switches, one for the brake lights and another for the ABS system. Keep posting...
@blueyedboymrdeath Haven't tried it yet, I still have to get some extra key blanks. Only began researching this today, after finding out how #%@*! expensive new keys are! This video seems to be the most recent information on how to do this. I tested my only key, and it appears to be a master key according to the criteria I found, so I'm hopeful.
Does anyone know what will be needed to make spare keys for a used 2006 Toyota Highlander I just bought that came only with the Valet (AKA Sub, Vice, or Deputy key)? I am hoping that I do not have to replace the anti-theft computer. I have heard that it can be reset but I am not sure about this.
@kdegru Your only issue is the maximum amount of key that can be programmed into your module and how many keys have already been programmed. Good luck...
@DanFamilyMan Such a new vehicle I'd have to say I don't know. I can tell you that these security systems don't change that much from year to year. But for now you have a new vehicle and not have to worry about about it for a while. Good luck...
@ADPTraining I've been trying these steps, with the spare and it doesn't work. I've up to five minutes and it doesn't turn off. Am I doing something wrong?
@ADPTraining I have already the blank toyota transponder key and cut as well. I lost the key, but I still have the spare keys (which are similar to the original), what I want to know if the spare willbe enough to program the key? In the video you said that as long is a working key. Thank you.
@Motorista55B Yes, a spare key is a regular key. Not a valley key. Also remember that there is a specific number of keys that can be programmed. If that number has been reached then you have to use the factory scanner to erase that number and start from 0. This is normally not an issue on newer vehicles. Good luck...
What years of Toyota vehicles is this key programming proceedure applicable to? As someone already stated there is no harm in trying the proceeedure and either the programming mode will be engaged or it will not.
I would like to know if just a copy of key, will in 2005 toyota tacoma because if more affordable and I some friends have just made the keys, they work perfectly, so is practically the same, right? thank you.
@Motorista55B You can always give it shot. It won't hurt anything. If it doesn't work post back with the results. I promise will do everything we can to help you out. Good luck...
According to "Locksmith Charley" (website I found), if you put the key in the ignition and the blinking LED indicator for the immobilization system goes off immediately, it's a master key. If it stays on for a few seconds before going off, it's a "valet" key, not a master key. I'm hoping to activate some extra keys myself on a 2010 Yaris, and have been researching this.
@driftsteve Toyota tries to keep any software related features the same across the board. It's less expensive for them to do so. Give it a try and post back...
@99630061 It might. Most of this video is made for US models, but Toyota systems are all made the same or I should say with similar programming. Post more after you've tried it on your vehicle. Thank you...
unfortunately it did not. I have tried many times. The local Toyota salespeople say it does not go, but must use their expensive computer. I personally think this is strange that there should be a method for the European versions also if this can be done with the American versions.

@ADPTraining I wanted to know if this method would work with a brand new key for Toyota Corolla LE 2010?

Worked perfect on a 2002 Camry. I incorrectly hit the last break while the key was in the ignition and it worked fine.
