Thanks Jon! Been very busy at work with inventory the past week but I finally got to put my canards on last night and hoping to get to the winglets and larger rear stab tonight. It should be ready to fly again this weekend. I forgot to mention in the video that I used the Doculam on this plane. It went on pretty easy and turned out really nice. Thanks for introducing it to us and giving us some to try out.
if the lift goes away at the wingtips first and this happens quickly you get a positive torque around the y-axis pitching the plane down; at that time the vertical stabiliser is taken out of the wind and it goes all out of control.
Do try to make the vertical stab. longer and backwardsswept at a low angle. (50° and 6")
0MoTheG thanks for the info no forward swept wings! What you said describes exactly what the plane did each time I tried to fly it very slow. I will be putting a larger rear stabilizer on this one for sure.
revmkell I was going to put a KFm1 on the bottom side of the plane but decided against it till I can get the it flying right. I wanted to see what kind of difference it will make.
Whoa! Most of the comments are missing right now. Thanks, YouTube.
Anyway, Frank, before you put canards on this plane try adding some tip plates (winglets) with a significant portion below the wings. One of the problems with real forward swept wing aircraft is that the wings tend to mask the vertical stab from the apparent wind at low speeds. This is why your plane loses stability at slow speeds; it ain't gots no rudder in the airflow! I have fixed a couple of my crappy planes by doing this.
I noticed all the comments I answered the other day went missing. It's really annoying because I don't know how to get them back.
Thanks for the idea with the winglets. I was wanting to add some just like you described with them hanging down instead of up. Thought it would add some character to the plane. Will be a real bonus if it stabilizes the plane like you described!! Will definitely try it.
do you think that if you guys want to put a bit more weight into it, you would put gyros in it? i've heard that gyros help stabilize the plane a bit better but i haven't been able to try myself. it could help.
I'm not familiar with how canards help slow speed stability so I can't comment. I'd also consider starting with a bigger tail that can be cut back as needed 'till it gets squirrelly and maybe even more wing area (up to the triangles). Having all that weight so far ahead of the flying surface is usually what causes most of the slow flying problems.
bnrusso the canards should help stabilize the front of the plane by keeping it locked in and less likely to nose up or down when the speed changes. At least that's what I'm hoping it will do! Forward swept wings always have more weight up front to counter the lift of the wing being farther forward unfortunately there is no way around this that I know of.
Hey that is a neat look N plane! I think it would look good with wing tip fins also... or some side force generator style vert stabs. Experimenting is my favorite part of the hobby and I plan on getting back to my roots! Keep up the good work!
Just a suggestion, how about using helicopter flybar paddles for the connards? Just trim them as desired. They're thin and very strong, and inexpensive. Ones for the 450 size heli should be about the right size.
Nice video guys!!! The muzik is dope!!! Who did that? LOL Oh that's me!!! J/K All jokes aside, "KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK PAUL & FRANK!!!" I'm just glad to be able to give you guys some muzik to incorporate in your videos. Talk to you soon!!!
That is cool there guys..... Many people have problems getting forward wings to fly good..... You guys have building skills..... keep it up.... 5 stars
Thanks Mitch!! I must have missed that video I didn't know he made a forward swept wing plane.

BTW RCPOWERS forward swept wing was a disaster he tore the wings off then it was great ..
you guys RULE....

Awesome Plane Frank!! I hope the winglets work to get it flying good, I'm looking forward to seeing it soon ;).
did you tape this one or did you try out the Doculam?

forwardswept doesn't seem to work at this scale.

Sorry mattandrescuer no gyros on this one. Don't want to add the extra weight and think it will fly fine without it after I make a few minor mods.

i have a solution to hand take offs check out my vid it called bottle rocket.

That vuideo was pretty funny Lincolnjt41!! Would have been cool if the plane would of stayed attached, It would have really launched it!!
rcFoamFighters 2 years ago
yea thats todays challenge and still waiting on elctronics for f15 but will tell you how it flies
Lincolnjt41 2 years ago
Nice plane, I also think the tail is a bit small, you may not need the Canards if the tail was bigger, keep the shape though.

Side force generators are an awesome idea !
RCFLIGHTHELP 2 years ago
RCFLIGHTHELP I may try that if I can't get it to fly the way I want it to with the mod I plan on doing.

Thabnks AnyAirRc!! I am thinking of putting some wing tip fins on it when I do the other mods.
rcFoamFighters 2 years ago
that fin also looks very small love the colour scheme 5*

I agree with you on the fin being to small FlyHighRC386. I'll be changing that soon.

looks like your first bullet proof plane awesome looks great
FlyHighRC386 2 years ago
FlyHighRC386 this plane is very similar to the first Bullet Proof plane but at the same time very different, weight, build, and size wise.

looks almost like it would be good for a floatplane except for the pusher LOL
