  • Mindblowing!

  • Reminds me of dark version of night school of one mr Fzappa, great stuff!

  • i can't believe thordenal is actually playing more than two notes. color me impressed.

  • @AuthenticProphetic have you heard any of the solos on meshuggah albums?

  • The amazing guitar, inspired some AMAZING drums! which in turn makes the amazing guitars sound AMAZING!

  • I almost shitted myself when i noticed the face changed

  • Allien Holdsworth :)

  • 5:31 THAT IS SO CRAZY

  • @8:02 Is Fredrik playing a synth axe?

  • From 1:34 reminds me very strongly of parts of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds... being a fan of the latter & a massive fan of Meshuggah, I'm loving this major amounts!!!

  • Future Jazz I say!

  • Does anyone know a link to download this particular song?

  • This is amazing atmosphere music :D

  • Yeah at this point in time this makes my musicianship seem awful, everything I ever knew and was is so little compared to how good this band is. They take everything allan holdsworth learned and multiply it by 2. All they need is a John Lennon type vocalist with peaceful lyrics, the music is truly magical, a driving force in positive brilliance. Experimenters and innovators of sound they can truly do everything and anything and I love everything about the music.

  • @BTBAMBoarder how about maynard from tool as vocalist? how would that be?

  • I pray that your abduction be left in peace. Just BRILLIANT musicianship!

  • My anus just got probed

  • does the beginning remind anyone of Goldeneye for the N64?

  • Abductions of human beings by Meshuggah. According to those who "claim" to have been abducted, their transported by a beam of light aboard a spacecraft, set up on an examination table, surrounded by strange creatures and probed and prodded as Meshuggah is listened to... and then returned to the point from which they were abducted. The one thing they know for certain is that minutes, even hours have passed that they can't account for. This form of amnesia is known as "Listening To Meshuggah".

  • @Meshuggaaaahhhhh LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoL

  • what album?

  • @conorthealien Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects - Sol Niger Within. It's a bonus track though.. so you won't find it on a "normal" CD.

  • @XTVille haha like the way you put normal in inverted commas, this is definitely not a normal album haha

  • @conorthealien Lol its called a quotation mark bro

  • @XTVille Yep, it's on the so-called "Version 3.33". Really a brilliant album...

  • @22fret Yeah, the album is amazing. Belongs in my all-time favorite songs, together with Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and some others.

  • wow. this is really meshuggahs guitarist???

  • @TheConnord12 Indeed, he is...

  • This song makes time weep while space hushes his crying friend in the bushes of the universe of never ending mortality.

  • I would be very curious to see Allan Holdsworth's reaction listening to this...

  • @lazylion13 imagine allan cooperating with fredrik on some project...that would create a black hole xD

  • @Welkin0711 Haha, probably...

  • metal/ anal rofl xD

  • Kinda sounds Vai-esque at a few points.

  • If I could create a track like this, I could say with confidence, I am a complete guitarist.

  • @lifeleech no ! you could say i am a GENIUS ..

  • I stopped thinking...then vanished.

  • This is Holdsworth reeking out of every pore in this track.

  • @movchok reeking being the operative phrase :)

  • wow this is gay - this swedish jazz fusion element is the only thing gay about meshuggah....

  • @clusterfuck667 wow...u truly are gay with a response like that.

  • @NEUROTIC83 you know im right, this shit sucks a dick. i love meshuggah and jazz music, but this is awful bullshit. my opinion is more important than yours so shutup.

  • @clusterfuck667 sucks dick? Your gay for sure..lol

  • @NEUROTIC83 its you're - its an abbreviation of you are dipshit. and also im bisexual, which is none of your fucking business anyway you fucking huge nob. anyway fuckoff before i anally rape you.

  • @clusterfuck667 lmao!!!! How adorable u are!!!!

  • @NEUROTIC83 :) yeah - everyone says that ;) now back to killing little children....

  • @clusterfuck667 what about the fact that they use 7 and 8 string guitars? you hate those, you bisexual bitch.. go drink your haterade and stop commenting dumb shit

  • @ilikebeer what? what the fuck has that got to do with anything, and furthermore, who the fuck are you ? did we ask you to but in ? no. once you know as much as me, come back and we'll talk. until then go back to sucking on yo mammas tit dipshit.

  • @clusterfuck667 you know jack shit about anything, except how to give reach-arounds. go play swords with your boyfriend u shit-talkin punk

  • @ilikebeer ive been a producer, sound engineer, dj and composer for over 20 years, i know most types of mixing desk, my record collection is WAY bigger than yours, and i like pretty much every type of music out there. my taste is impeccable and when i play shit to people i blow their minds. but yeah i still know nothing. working on it though... maybe if you became immortal you could catch me up in the next 500 years or so.

  • @clusterfuck667 Your mom's been a knob gobbler her whole life, but I don't give a shit. Go lie to someone else, goofy.

  • @ilikebeer i never lie, thats for lesser developed humans, such as yourself. my mum is an insane jehovahs witness bitch who thinks of nothing but money, the last time she had some cock was probably 10 years ago. anyway fuckoff mr i duh like duh beer. retard.

  • @clusterfuck667 Haha, you sure talk like you were someone, but you don't show it. In fact you look pretty much like a retard. This is not made by Meshuggah, its a side project by one of the band members, namely Fredrik Thordendal. You should be more observant, or learn to do some research. Your taste in music is probably shit, as well.

I am emperor Xerxes of space. You are nothing.

  • @dujl i know this is not made by meshuggah, i can read, unlike your inbred parents, its a wonder your mother could sell her ass enough to put you through school. and its a shame the medication didnt work emperor. it shows what a retard *you* are by butting into some argument thats nothing to do with you - and then whineing like a little bitch about something that is totally obvious even to a retard like you. now fuckoff dipshit.

  • @clusterfuck667 Lol. Go back to school.

  • @dujl (rolls eyes) i just gave *you* a lesson and all you can say is go back to school!? you do realise how stupid that is right ? just checking... oh wait - youre probably a 12yr old american like most of the other cunts on here, ok im giving up any semblance of logic, poo bah your mum your mum fuck you nerr nerr. my dads bigger than your dad ner ner poo poo bum.

  • @clusterfuck667 Heh. If you don't understand what my remark concerning school was about, then you certainly need to go back there. ;D

  • @dujl if you dont understand a large metal object crushing your head, then you certainly need one.

  • @clusterfuck667 Oh my, aren't you charming? Oh, there, there, did I upset you?

  • @dujl no i just like the idea of you being crushed by a large metal object, course i wouldnt actually do it cos im too much of a nice guy. id much rather spike you with a lot of acid, take you into a forest and tie you, backwards, to a tree. then i would insert a piece of copper tubing into your ass, put some barbed wire into that and then pull the copper tubing out, untie you and leave you on your merry way. have a nice day fucknut :) and good luck with that gay prog shit you like.

  • @clusterfuck667 Haha. Y U MAD THO?

  • @dujl more insane than you could ever imagine my youpube friend. why dont we agree to disagree and you can go back to your gay prog fusion sheet? K? k.

  • @clusterfuck667 I don't thin you're mad, just a tad upset. :) I will agree to do that, and leave you to your ignorance of experimental sounds. :PPP

  • @dujl are you getting angry now or something ? do you even know who stockhausen, dissevelt, pierre henry and bernard parmigianni are ? probably not, ill wager.

  • @clusterfuck667 How much do you care to lose?

Granted jazz fusion is an aquired taste, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. ^^

  • @dujl im all ears, tell me about your knowledge of early experimental music... and how you know more than me. if you get stuck you can go to this site i made with my friend evolution of sound [dot] org (no spaces)

  • @clusterfuck667 I wouldn't want to crowd these comment sections with inconsequental factoids. You seem to have a gripe over the fact that elements of a band you thought you had classified are doing something different, something that doesn't fit your definition. It's as thought you're of the idea that metal musicians shouldn't venture outside of their given genre, because that defies your vaunted knowledge

Provide reason why the music is bad, not silly allusions to musical insight.

  • @dujl what!? youre clearly unhinged. this music is just shit, theres no intellectualising over it - its fucking pants! i cant think of a fusion masterpiece i like. i genuinely think fusion is one of the few forms of music which has absolutely no saving grace whatsoever. but if you can point out something good - im all ears. see you backed right out of that other argument. shat your knickerbockers did yeh?

  • @clusterfuck667 music and art in general is completely subjective, as each individual experiences it differently (as with all things in life). try as you might you cannot force your unique perspective on anyone but yourself.

  • @clusterfuck667 Nope, I like discussing matters of relevance.

This is all about feeling, and improvisation. You gotta feel the mood the musicians are going through. It requires a fluid sense of music, as it is not so much about solid structure. One has to be able to go with it, and adapt to the shifting nature, loose structure of each song. I'm not sure you are able to do this. If you are I suggest you listen to it again. Because clearly the musicians are skilled at what they do.

  • @dujl i think i said previously ive been a musician for about 30 years or summat, so......errrrrrr. what are you on about. clearly the musicians are skilled, nobodies arguing about that, but tbh, usually, the more virtuoso the musician is, the more up their own ass they go, there are exceptions to this rule, mostly indian :) art is clearly subjective as well, but do you think you can honestly say lady gaga is not objectively shite ?

  • @clusterfuck667 She's not doing anything with much depth, intent or creativity. That's why she's not very good. However, I like this. I think it's creative (obviously), passionate, skillful, and I like the concept and overall feeling of the instruments. I like it because it flows well in my ears, that's all.

  • @dujl ah ha! so you admit shes not very good in objective musical terms. then - when i say this is objectively rubbish music you shouldnt disagree :) this is getting stupid now - im bored of this flame, its going all reasonable and i only come on here to let steam off. lady gaga is probably the most popular artist in the world now, so i obviously know fuck all about music.

  • @clusterfuck667 Lol, I just stated the reasonons why I don't think she's very good, but those do not apply to this, so yeah, I don't see your point. Objectively this is pretty good, depending on your perspective.

Why care about Gaga, anyway? She's kind of old news.

  • @dujl its no good have a conversation with you is it ? the point of mentioning gagger as i call her is to illustrate the point of objectively shite music, which i believe this page is. i dont 'care about her' although i would like to brutally rape her mouth till she is unable to sing. ok im bored now, you obviously have terminally awful taste and no amount of logic is going to save you. im going to move on to the courtney videos because they are more vicious there and up for a fight ;) best x

  • @dujl one thing that made me laugh tho 'I wouldn't want to crowd these comment sections with inconsequental factoids' :D hehehehehe - we dont mind filling it with bile instead though, thats fine :)

  • @clusterfuck667 Hehe, right. You see me making inflammatory comments, do you? ;D

Whatever, there is no need to discuss if an understanding can't be reached.

  • @dujl not at all ;) why is it most arguments i have on youtube start off with 'your mum' and end up being all chummy. (apart from the courtney love videos) i agree that the music is skilled - you couldnt write this if you were an amateur but then - why would you want to!? i detest this sort of music - this, free jazz ala ornette coleman and things like rihanna and lady bieber :) these are my only hates i like the rest of it though. mebbe my mind is just not open enough. meshuggah rocks tho :)

  • @clusterfuck667 Well, I hope you'll come around one day, though. :P

I love Meshuggah as well. If you want something more heavy made solely by this guy, I suggest checking out "Sol Niger Within". It's pretty insane, though, so don't say I didn't warn you! ;)

  • @dujl yyyy - i know it - its fucking awful but the drummer morgen agren is one of the best ive heard apart from duplantier out of gojira. that incredible medley thing they done is awesome, but all this widdly yngwie guitar over the top i just cant stand it. i like the time signatures and the beats. in fact id like to hear spectrally excited envelope filtered saz solos over the top of that - or perhaps oum cal soum in reverse :)

  • @clusterfuck667 I don't think the drummer of Gojira is that impressive, tbh, but hey, still pretty good. I also think Sol Niger is a bit much to handle, but some parts of it are really impressive, from any standards. Search "Sol Niger z1 Reticuli", for a wonderful solo, by any standards.

  • @dujl ooo noooo awful! this sounds like yngwie malmsteen in 1984. id much rather listen to john fahey than this. not a fan of fret wanking myself. i like melody and skill, not a display of ego. there is no feeling in this to me.

  • @dujl what you dont think duplantier is impressive ? you're obv not a drummer then.

  • @clusterfuck667 No, I think he is, just that there are better drummers.

  • @dujl very very few my friend. personally i dont think anyone could do it better for that band, someone like agren on that would be messing about too much. on an unrelated or related note, i got a mail to my site this morning from an italian prog rock band asking to upload their demo.... weird. prog is in the air....

  • @clusterfuck667 Personally I'm not that much into Gojira, but hey. I just find them a bit dry and predictable.

  • @dujl oh shame. i like 'from mars to sirius' reminds me of when i was 14. its like an updated metallica. one thing that bothers me about both gojira and meshuggah is the vocals, the only rock vocalist i really like is kurt cobain, he had an inbuilt distortion pedal on his larynx, that was pretty cool.

  • @clusterfuck667 serious? Kurt was a rock vocalist? Man I like him too, but to compare him to the likes of Meshuggah or a smaller Metallica is retarded. Thank you, come again.

  • @morandymo hi prick!

  • @clusterfuck667 Gojira is amazing, and Mario is a machine on drums! Some of the BEST grooves in metal.

  • @jonesy97 yes quite original some of it and all very well played.

  • @clusterfuck667 ah. de british butraped fag spewing his angst all over de internt comentz usig his colon as the canon. its sad that somany kidz are buttraped in britn.

  • @gorgeconowitz What the fuck language is that?! At first glance I actually thought that was in Polish.

  • @TheMrChugger lol, sorry. i was just messing with some bitch troll that was starting shit all over youtube.

  • I'd like to get Fred and Pat Metheny in a room and see what comes of it. Whos' down?

  • @nycic id like to get fred and pat in an airtight room and then inject deadly gas into it, whos down!?

  • UFO Metal

  • i just got a time signature boner

  • For the first months, i couldn't seem to grasp those blind moments, holding me in a state of loss... until one day, when it all caught up on me. After that, I worked real hard for years suppressing all abduction memories. Now that I remember it all, I'm scared to death almost all the time... I know they will be coming back for me again. They always come back...

  • None of what your remember is real. Your life began when you woke up this morning. everything else is your mind, reasoning with itself to substantiate your life up until this very moment. As with your memories, the world around you, it's people, it's sensations - all an inconceivably complex sub conscious protocol of your mind to prove to constantly prove to itself that it exists - Reality is relative to perception by the mind.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • @Thraxxacor That doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Your claims are pretty obvious. Any memory is dependant on the percpetion of the individual. They are recorded as they are perceived. And it's not like a person who suffered from permanent memory loss would care long enough to mourn it. Only people with the ability to account for their experiences are able to "search" for reality. In truth reality is more than anyone can comprehend.

  • @Thraxxacor dude ive been thinking that for the past month 0.o

  • @Thraxxacor So i realized that while on a bunch of acid when i was 16. My ego shattered and i went Completely primal for about 2 hours; seeing myself from a 3rd person perspective while going totally apeshit. Funny i should read this coming down off of the same drug 2 years later.

  • @Thraxxacor For real. Peace

  • @Thraxxacor Tl;dr

No, I read it, and thank you.

  • @Thraxxacor Mind: Blown

  • @Thraxxacor wow... what a wank

  • @Thraxxacor Solipsism

  • @Thraxxacor I couldn't fit it all in one bowl

  • @Thraxxacor Reality is absolute. We are relative.

  • @Thraxxacor So thank your mind for creating this song every morning to listen to all day :)

  • @Thraxxacor

Such complex puzzles of everyday life come to me as a facts of life.

Thenagain, the part of memories only depicts personality.

  • @dujl go fuck your opinions

  • Just because something looks likely to you doesn't mean that it's the truth. Remember that.

  • @MrPetrucci100

I think there is a version/interpretation of it on Rare Trax (might need to get that off itunes or, dare i say, pirate it)

it's an album with variations of some older songs, and a few rather unique songs that are in the same styles of songs on either contradictions collapse, None, or destroy erase improve that didnt make it onto the offical releases.

  • Strong Holdsworth feel here. I like this. Is there a pay-for download?

  • whats so wierd about this. I actually enjoyed it very much. nice jazz

  • @MrArsenioOro the song has a meaning behind it relating to an actual alien abduction

  • @2bored4school i know you guys are exited about the song and want every1 to say it is the weirdest thing ever. But I've heard weird before and this aint it. I found it very melodic, beautiful and I also think it was very jazzy. I dont think aliens are wierd at all at this day in age anyway

  • @2bored4school "actual"

  • I always knew Thordendal was an amazing player, the few solos I've heard from Meshuggah have been awe-inspiring, but this takes the fuckin' cake.

  • I've got the 3.33 version. I was lucky and bought it when it was first released, I was a little kid back then, very ignorant of music, I listened to it, liked it but I thought it was nothing special and put it away. Needless to say, I changed my mind since back then. I love Holdsworth and Meshuggah of course, I actually bought SNW because I was a Meshuggah fan.

  • 04:41 - bass magic.

  • Cool, i thought fredrik could only play his 8th string on the guitar

  • GENIUS!

  • fuck, theres such a scary feeling around this track, i think its indeed its subject, but some of the passages fredrik pulled , alone, send chills down my spine. and that, is art, my friends

  • king crimson all over the place

  • I want to point out that Thordendal's idol is ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, folks. This must be stated as Holdsworth, the legend, is not quite popular, but many players use his tone and imitate his style. A bit weak to just copy Holdsworth, but on the other hand, it is great Holdsworth sets a standard.

  • @Listendudeok To me this sounds like it's loosely based on 4.15 Bradford Executive.

  • @DougFCKNSteele hm... yeah, really sounds like it!

  • @Listendudeok Well, if you knew Holdsworth you'd at least know what i was talking about. But, seeing that you're a dip shit with little brain capacity, I wouldn't expect you to understand. Stick to what you know; making clogs and being jealous of Sweden.

  • @DougFCKNSteele Dude, what's got into you? Got some issues? Suddenly you just turn into an asshole. Or have you always been one? And a patriotic asshole too? Poor guy. Learn some manners, and grow up. You don't deserve to listen to Holdsworth. Stick ABBA up your fat ass, moron.

  • @Listendudeok Marry me?

  • @Listendudeok DougFCKNSteele is the shit. dont be hatin.

  • @jaretthale78 He was hating, not me. Can't you read

  • This is fucking awesome

  • If you like this check out blotted science similar scales, similar sound, damn near identical if you ask me.

  • ANAL PROBE FUSION.

  • love the jaz scales

  • Damn good performance by Fredrik T

  • WOAH

  • holdsworth has a similar sound, no?

  • @2bored4school Thats what I was thinking.

We all need inspiration, Fredrik found his.

  • Sorry if this is a ridiculous inquiry, but is the first solo the only one attributed to Fredrik on this track? I know he has herculean ridiculous effects with which to dabble with and it befuddles me because I can't tell if it's simply a keyboard or if it's Fredrik playing Wizard of Oz.

  • @DarkAssassin1323 I'm pretty sure Fredrik is playing everything in this track, but some of it is synth, and some is guitar. The intro line I think is indeed synth, but don't be surprised if all the solos are on guitar. He's pretty versatile in that regard. :)

  • @DarkAssassin1323 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Fredrik uses a breath controller on most of this album. That might be why some of the other solos sound like they might not by played on the guitar.

  • WOW

    thts catchty

i was swaying with the music in my car at a red light nd 2 ppl looked at me nd asked if i needed help

    nd i did

i needed to knw why i am worthy enough to let my ears dance with the music of frederik <3

  • the second alien's eyes look rather like mine...rofl.:D

  • Anal probe fusion, great genre

  • Fredricks tapping almost sounds like steve vai's guitar playing...in fact..this whole song sounds like something steve vai would probably play.......

  • jazz fusion is CRAZYYYYYY =]] i love this

  • Shut the fuck up and listen...

  • what the fuck this shit is fucking creepy that picture won't stop what the fuck

  • 9:55

    Best. Ending. Ever.

  • 9:55

  • 9:55

  • This song transports you. I love that bit of phrasing at 9:22 in particular. Could put this on loop for a long time

  • incredible, fantastico! love it!

  • I love this, and I don't mind that it's 99% copying Allan Holdsworth, not many could come even close.... I've seen them live... Allan Holsworth Band, Fredrik Thordendals Special Deffects and Morgan Ågren, different occations... Blows me away every time..

A higher dimension and a deeper language... of life...

  • @nyttliv7 plus the bass section @ 5:00 - 5:40 sounds a bit like Jaco Pastorious - wouldn't you agree? And yes - this whole track reminds me of Allan Holdsworth too.

  • I love this, and I don't mind that it's 99% copying Allan Holdsworth, not many could come even close.... I've seen them live... Allan Holsworth Band, Fredrik Thordendals Special Deffects and Morgan Ågren, different occations... Blows me away every time..

A higher dimension and a deeper language... of life...

  • Increible!!! llevo escuchado este tema miles de veces y me caigo de culo!!!... un hermoso homenaje a Allan... con un toque de swedish flavor!... Saludos desde Argentina

  • this song prepares me for death

  • where the fuck can i buy this?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!

  • this is sick beyond explanation, yet sublime art of the higher spheres.

  • i read somewhere that the drummer for this track was morgan agren, but is that tomas haake's voice at 7:30?

  • Allan holdsworth

  • sounds like someone blacked out -missing time-

haha cant remember shit when ur stone

    deff drunk woooooooo

  • If this puts you in a wonderful mental place like it does for me, listen to On A Crater's Verge off the same album. Absolutely fucking rediculous. Thank you Mr. Thordendal for being the most insanely good guitarist ever born.

  • Omg ewwww he why do he have cum in his mouth!?? Fuck lost all respect for him

  • this is one of the most incredible pieces of music ever, every second of it

  • I wonder if that title has to do with Betty and Barney Hill's abduction.

They were abducted and 2 hours later they find themselves in their car, realizing that they couldn't recall what happened in the last 2 hours.

    They were missing time.

I'm pretty sure that's what this title is about.

Frederik also had a demo called 'Zeta Reticuli'.

It is a star system that had to do with the abduction. Betty Hill was ably to draw that star system under hypnosis, 6 yrs before astronomers could see it!

  • @psychopathtoine heaps of people have told stories of missing time due to abduction

  • @psychopathtoine Ahh yeah that was from Sol Niger Within. I think that might've been a two-parter in the gapless album. At one point Zeta-1 Reticuli, then Zeta-2. But idr.
