@battlehawk777 you'll need to download and install one of two programs 7-zip or WinRAR. i recommend 7-zip because it's fee. right click>7-zip>extract files, and from there just put the .exe file anywhere you want.

ok got to the point where I actually have the wep key code but when I try to connect to the wifi connection it says that I've got the wrong passphrase. What am I doing wrong? I closed vmware down and I can connect to other wifi networks but when trying to connect to the one i cracked it gives me that message. Is there something I have to do withe code? I deleted the ":" from between the numbers as stated int he video and copy pasted the key.

Nevermind, aparently you need to type it with NON-Capitals.

Works Fine, I think its easier to install ubuntu Linux as a second OS if VMware doesn't find your wifi card.

also if you got "device busy..." or something error when loading up wlan0 then just try this:

ifconfig wlan0 up

airmon-ng start wlan0

then try airodump-ng mon0 (in my case)

and in the final code to crack the passcode just replace wlan0 with mon0

Everything here works for WEP security, I cracked a 4mb network in 15minutes

everything dloaded and backtrack 3 iso loaded and NAT selected but my wireless adapter (Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter) doesn't show up in vm>network menu even if I disable my ethernet (wired adapter) in windows. excellent tutorial but all comments say the same as mine; doesn't recognize my wireless adapter. (on acer 5515 laptop) airmon-ng only shows ethernet adapter. I have no usb devices either. pls help me. i've already spent hours on this man i know it works ive seen you do it.

hi, thank you very much for this great tutorial, i have overcome almost all problems that it has thrown at me (VM didn't pick up wireless, no #data flow) thank you for the injection tut as well btw. only problem i have now is, i have set up the keep-alive terminal, its running. i have set up the packet injector, its running, so far i have 66000 #data. when i type in aircrack-ng ect. it comes up with 174511 keys tested (got 150 IVs). which is less than yours, what can i do to fix this?
