animal sacrifice was in the Old Testament. among other things in the OT is obvious oppression to women..but does that mean God is sexist? of course not.
God intentionally created all the animals and continually provides for them and cares for them.
while the OT laws commanded animals to be sacrificed, there were also injunctions against animal cruelty. Animals were not to be overworked (Ex 23:12) or underfed (Dt 25:4), nor were they to be hunted to extinction (Dt 22:6-7).
There are scholars who argue that Jesus never commited slaughter, rtdem. He bucked the system before ;) And there is no direct reference to him eating meat. I'm sure that this is definitely not something that Jesus was ok with. Jesus's message was of compassion, justice, and love. When I see the way that animals are treated I see no compassion, justice, or love.

Genesis 1:28 - "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."
God said to eat the seeds of fruit and such in place of meat. When God created the earth and everything in it there was NO DEATH. Sorry folks, there was no eating of meat in the Garden of Eden, and there sure isn't any meat in Heaven.

So PETA, if you are taking this route, Men, its ok to be ultimately supreme in a marrage. There are several verses in Ephesians, the fifth chapter that you should read, beginning with verse 22. Let me read only two of these for you. Verse 22, "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord". Then in I Peter 3:1, "Like wise you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands".

There is nothing in the Bible that would justify our modern-day policies that desecrate the environment, destroy entire species of wildlife, and inflict torment and death on billions of animals every year. The Bible imparts a reverence for life; a loving God could not help but be appalled at the way His creatures are being treated.

I don't think it's an unfair question, kristina304. God shows himself to be at times cruel, favour some over others, be rageful, be scornful... Just because an indivdiual questions whether God is good or not...doesn't make THEM bad...it makes them a philosopher, at heart. Philosophers have asked this same question for millenniums. Check out Epicurius' God Paradox.

You don't even know scripture. Man originally created to eat a vegetarian diet (Gen 1:29). Only when sin entered the world did meat eating start. When Jesus returns, the lion will eat straw like the lamb (Isaiah). Typical protestant, doesnt study the whole Torah and the Prophets.

Wrong the Bible did not say eat any animals. God, the same yesterday and today, gave laws outlined in Leviticus for us to live by, these include not eating unclean foods. If Jesus did not eat pork, neither should you as the Bible says we must imitate Jesus and do what He did. This includes observing the laws of the Bible duty bound on gentile and Jew (for when Jesus returns all of these Old Testaments laws will again to reintroduced).

when did jesus command torture? ever? i feel the need to remind you that this era we are talking about was over 2000 years ago, and that back then, they didnt have a grocery store to pop into to buy their bagged salad. they hunted mainly for survival, they didnt have the choice and luxury of choosing what to eat and not eat, like we have today. i strongly feel that jesus would choose not to support a business that tortures His creatures unnecessarily .

read the Bible and learn about animal sacrifice. The Temple in Jerusalem was the center of Jewish life. The Temple was also the center for animal sacrifice. Now are you going to say Animal Sacrifice is O.K.?

animal sacrifice was in the Old Testament. among other things in the OT is obvious oppression to women..but does that mean God is sexist? of course not.
God intentionally created all the animals and continually provides for them and cares for them.
while the OT laws commanded animals to be sacrificed, there were also injunctions against animal cruelty. Animals were not to be overworked (Ex 23:12) or underfed (Dt 25:4), nor were they to be hunted to extinction (Dt 22:6-7).

There are scholars who argue that Jesus never commited slaughter, rtdem. He bucked the system before ;) And there is no direct reference to him eating meat. Plus, many stories re: him and animals could have been metaphorical as well... I just feel that they looked at suffering quite differently. God purporting it, Jesus wanting to rid the earth of it...

everyone switching to a veg diet overnight is unrealistic. when more and more people stop eating meat, the demand for animals will go down. until [hopefully soon] one day the number of animals will be so small it wont be a problem.
