@itsareligionofpeace I agree... to some extent. Although it was a little before my time, tennis was more fun to watch when it was a contest of placement, touch, and angles. Plus, you hardly ever see serve and volley players nowadays. But alas, technology changes things.
It's not a typical point and they didn't "slow down the courts." Players of that era grew up playing wooden rackets and so they did not have the luxury of swinging out on the ball the way modern players do. They had to use more finesse and strategy to create openings rather than just bludgeoning the ball every point. You saw a major shift when the juniors who learned the game with stiffer, wider graphite rackets turned pro, starting with Becker. I think it ruined the game to a large degree.

Definitely back to wood...
And speed up the surfaces they slowed.
I miss when tennis had variety, and I sure miss serve & volley.

@tomloft2000 IIRC Segura had a two-handed forehand and a single-handed backhand. Bromwich and McGrath were hitting 2HBH back in the 1930s.

This was the best era of tennis ever.
Wimbledon should bring back all wood rackets - much longer rallies, finesses - the way it should be.
