sorry but stereotypes does have truth in them or they wouldn't stick and the mass wouldn't agree to it....and the target group wouldn't be so defensive about it. For example, if I tried spreading a false stereotype "Japanese people are lazy and often commit crime while loving fried chicken"...the mass wouldn't agree with me, it wouldn't stick and the Japanese would just reply "huh? yeah ok buddy, whatever" and not be defensive about it.
@MondoBeno the biggest problem ,like in RegentPark is the design of the project is not suitable for police and security.Too many nooks,cranny`s,paths,alley-ways, for crooks to escape. This is the main reason for a 'do-over' to enable cops to police the area better. As for all the rest of the bullshit its like 'trkdigital' said 'like putting a silk hat on a pig'..
Police & Security aren't exactly a positive influence in low-income neighbourhoods given their blatant disregard for peoples welfare and their racist tendencies.
Besides, when it comes at least to narcotic & non-violent crimes, i'd rather see the crooks get away then be put in prison at taxpayer expense.
I would move here..i'm 22 years old on government disibity,i take pain medication for my back..I'd be getting high on T3's with my neighbours all day.
the real issues in communities like these have othing to do with moving the ppl around. it has to do with providing employment opportunities for the youth here, job training , more social programs for youth etc.,
Toronto community housing and greenwin are making me bang my head off the wall, see my vids. HIV + HEP Ccrapy laundy machines (owned by greenwin) and its Electrical standards infractions. Its like i am living a nightmare. Friends wont visit cause i ts a hole, i am so frustrated i never knew that people were treated this way in canada. Its fine if you are an immigrant starting out here cause this is as bad as it will ever get but for the poor &disabled canadians its a life sentence in HELL
stop tearing down toronto's diverse communities! this is just spreading its residents to different neighborhoods across the city. fuck gentrification! next is cataraqui a small but very tight ghetto community in scaborough. they have built nice new homes across the street so i see it the next to go. toronto is never gunna change no matter where u move the residents. fuck you!
It wll be just like a famous project in Boston, MA: Columbia Point. It was torn down and turned into "Harbor Point" to change the stigma! However, it's now a mixed income glorified project! Crime HAS improved, admittedly, however only because it couldn't possibly go DOWN!
Google Columbia Point
Anyhow, good luck Toronto. I disagree with the mixed income strategy,!
Funny how all these so-called experts think tearing down the community is a good thing, yet NONE OF THEM actually lives in the community. ALL public housing have a stong sence of community, so tearing it down & bringing in seclusive rich ppl who feel like going "slumming" from time 2 time isn't doing nothing 2 "improve" the community.

Here's what I wonder:
1. Will the buildings be good quality, or uninsulated, damp, and leaking?
2. Will the city-owned buildings be clustered together?
3. Will they be impossible to get to, and isolated from other areas by a highway?
4. Who will live in there?
Public housing is usually shit in the USA, shit in the UK, shit in Ireland, shit in Brazil, shit in Israel, and shit in Canada.
