Great book and an interesting and sad story. I know some of the poeple involved and I always wondered if a talented writer would tell this story; it is too weird and tragic not to be told.
WOW! I caught the end of an Evening Magazine story about this last night. I saw the photo of Nick and said out loud "I worked in Alaska with that guy" (on a floating processor in the 80s). What a terrible tragedy! Condolences to all whose lives were touched by this tragedy. I can't wait to read the book.
This book is likely to be a painful memory for many, but hopefully we can learn something from it. I believe Gregg to be a person interested in truth. I lived on Bainbridge Is. during this time and know many of those whose lives were turned upside down by the authoritarian deception that caused much of the blindness which allowed this to happen.
The only thing this trailer lacks is to show how well you write about motive in people who are highly devout, whether you share their spiritual convictions or not. To be able to effectively portray motive while neither proselytizing nor condescending is a rare and valuable skill. You have created an extremely delicate and nuanced portrayal that a lesser writer could never achieve. Congratulations, Gregg!
I just heard this on audiobook. It is fantastic!
