morally she is right. But, in the real world of war, she is wrong. Based upon what she is saying, Fdr, truman, ike, kennedy, lbj, nixon, ford, carter, reagan, bush, clinton, bush, and obama have committed war crimes and killed or torture innocents in some form.
@STILLNAKEDBULLWINKLE - One video does not sum-total all the loud-mouth abuse from O'Reilly over the years - There are videos of him telling his guests to "SHUT UP" and cutting their mics dozens of times. As for "waterboarding Bin Laden" - He's already admitted to 9-11. Bush had 8 years to get him but didn't - so much for Republican stopping terrorists. Besides, the BEST reason NOT to water board is we don't want to give the greenlight to the rest of the world to do it to our own troops.
@DixieDan3 You are so right! If you were captured by a terrorist, he would cut your head off but tell you before the sawing that you should rest at ease for they all had a board meeting and decided that america's noble lead convinced them to not be inhumane and pour water on your face but stuck to their conservative values and chose to cut your head off and post in on the internet for you family to watch at their convenience!!!!! Happy bleeding!!!!
I am a person of faith. How can she support killing in war but then fairness in the geneva convention? It seems to me that she would say not killing is right no matter what or how a war is waged? Is that not right?
you cannot have values such as liberty, justice or any other so called "american values" if you protect them by opposite values. You're not even true to your own values and you want to sell them to the word... hypocrites ...
As usual, Bill O'Reilly can't grasp 3 simple facts:
1.) As many leaders observed, going back to Elizabeth I, men will SAY ANYTHING under water-boarding/attempts at drowning.
2.) Aside from the fact that Bill has no conscious when it comes to lowering himself to the same level as our enemies, the other reason NOT TO TORTURE -we encourage REVENGE in DOING THE SAME to our troops.
3.) Sanctioning torture, which is AGAINST international law. no longer gives America MORAL AUTHORITY on the matter.
1)Interrogators directly connected to waterboarding have testified it worked.
2)The terrorists were beheading and torturing westerners before the waterboarding controversy started. Don't try to shift blame.
3)What America has done does not compare to the beheadings, woodchippers, beating with sticks, thrown acid and other monstrousities our enemies of done. There is no moral equivalency.
You are the one ignoring facts. CIA interrogator John Kiriakou was directly involved with Abu Zubaydah's interrogation. According to Kiriakou, Aubaydah only became cooperative after waterboarding. Then there's Michael Hayden and Mukasey flat out telling America that half of what we know about AQ we got through those harsh methods recently released. Stop denying evidence that doesn't fir your world view.
LOL - so shcardersl2 knows more than the U.N., Nato, our own CIA, FBI and Army Generals about the legitimacy of torture based on a few cases - talking about fitting things into a narrow world view to support one's callous predispositions- sick.
I'm like you. I don't know shit. I'm just listening to actual experts in interrogation and intelligence like John Kiriakou and Michael Hayden and Michael Mukasey. You see how I'm actually naming my sources. Makes them more credible.
You know what's even more stupid? Casting blame away from the person who actually committed the action. America has done nothing that compares the the beheadings, electricutions and drillings AQ has performed on their prisoners. To claim they're equal is insanity.
@Gold777Silver they also might provide correct intelligence. second, our enemies will cut our heads off whether or not we waterboard or not. Do you think a terrorist will not cut the head off an american and really consider that we do not waterboard? How naive is that thinking? third, there is no such thing as international law. It is theory. Ever sued a foreign country in an international court? It is far left theory and not reality. The only law that matters is our law!!Sorry, but Usa first!!!
@Gold777Silver lastly, I know you care what the world thinks and what terrorist think and we may upset them if we wateboard them. But, if osama is captured tomorrow, I will not support miranda rights and would rather waterboard him. Yes, it is harsh but the world is harsh. I am more worried about winning rather than take some idealistic lead thinking the world will respond where actually we still use other countries for real torture under the obama administration. Did you know that?
@Gold777Silver I support your sincere beliefs of doing right and not being harsh and rather being completely just and fair with an evil enemy but this is war and I play to win. If you do not play to win in war which is the worst of all scenerios, then you, not specifically you, but one is a fool to think otherwise. We tried japanese and germans in their coutnries and sentenced them to die. We did not bring them to new york or pearl harbor. Why I wonder? hmmmmmmmm
The reverend convinced me on this one. Her points were far stronger. What happens if we torture the wrong guy? And does this mean we condone our troops getting tortured when they're captured? There are terrible things in war, but that doesn't mean you make terrible things an official, endorsed policy.
O'Reilly is wrong if he think that torturing suspects is going to protect us. First we have to identify the true danger to the American people, and it's a corrupt group of people who are running the show.
if we know any thing about history america is a baby on the world scene in terms of age. even the great roman society fell. it's called over extension. if u create an intl. economy everyone has to be on the same page or any power freak can destroy the whole puzzle.today the war is over oil tomorrow it will be water. if anyones ever played age of the empires you know to ensure a country's survival into the future u must secure and defend strategic resources.
Some americans really believe america is invincible but this new war proves otherwise. the nwo fanatics like bush are using the "war on terror" to scare people into giving up their freedom.
"Your techniques?" Doesn't he mean Jesus' techniques? She's just quoting the Bible? The man is a total liar. He claims to believe in Jesus, but he turns to the government to do his dirty work.
She's the one cherry picking??? O'Reilly is such an idiot. And he thinks the war is responsible for us not being attacked???? That's like saying the rock in my yard keeps tigers away.
abutalaat- it was humor i think. real soldiers of countries typically have a "serial number". and when soldiers are captured in war, the Geneva Convention states that they are only required to give their name, rank and serial number. "name, rank and serial number" has also become a common phrase/colloquialism. as terrorists don't operate (usually) under a specific nation, to complete the phrase he subsituted "jihad number" for "serial number". a little goofy, but harmless.
talking about losing 3000 people in war is nothing compared to the domestic violence that happens every night in our own back yard, all across the country.
Christians believe that Muslims are a demonic faith, so why do they care about their well-being? Even though the U.S. captured this one man wrongly that doesn't mean that everybody else should be set free also. Just like Bill said everybody makes mistakes. Just like we make mistakes on convictions in our own country.
I am a Christian and I don't believe that Muslims are a demonic faith. I believe that they serve the same God I do , they just have a different way of doing it (I feel the same about Jews). That is fine to me and I have nothing against it. I believe that if anyone claims to be a Christian and feels otherwise about Muslims, Jews, or anyone (i.e. "They're wrong, we need to get rid of them") they aren't Christian, they can't be. Other than that, I agree with the rest of your comment
Muslims and Christians do not worship the same god. GOD will strike down any who do not believe that HE is our lord and savior. Its in the "WORD OF GOD." How do we know god created us in his image? Yes, muslims, Jews and Christians all three worship the same, one creator God. Allah, is the word meaning "God" in their language, it isn't just some name for an entirely different God. They have different ideas about prophets, and rituals that they practice for their faith, but they do believe in the same God. The Pope would say the muslim faith is demonic only if he hasn't studied it, as I have. My Anthropology professors (some of whom are atheist) say this.
Indeed, Arab Christians and Jews also pray to "Allah" - it is not a name. Also, since the 2nd Vatican Council back in the '60s, the Pope has allowed for the possibility of salvation outside the Catholic Church, even among Muslims. For him to say Islam is a "demonic faith" would be to go against Christian doctrine.
Yes Christians do believe it is a demonic faith, but they also believe in evangelism, sharing the light of Jesus with them to save their souls. And they also believe their fellow human beings created in God's image.
We have been having wars other this shit of centuries! Christians and Muslims trying to turn each other to the dark side. Religion blinds people. It teaches them awesome principles, but makes hate at the same time. Most of Europe has figured out that its all a bunch of fluff. The United States hasn't caught up yet. The exodus has been scientifically proven and has real life data to support it. People need to come to the light, and start thinking about evolution.

Unfortunately it is impossible to argue with people who can't see the big picture because they refuse to take their head out of their butt. This torture issue makes me sick.
How is it okay that their only rebutle is asking "What is torture?" Why does that matter? How can torture be okay? In any form? Defining it doesn't change that it is torture and it is a invasion of another person's rights. O'Reilly is pathetic.
because torture isn't like "USA", its one thing to you, and another to me. if someone says "torture is keeping someone up at night", thats bogus, which is what the left are doing. DEFINING IT IS THE EVERYTHING IN THIS
please refer to o'reilly's recent interview with bush where your leader refuses to define torture techniques and therefore exposes the hypocrisy of his declaration that the U.S. does NOT torture.

It's very simple : causing physical and/or mental pain/damage to someone who is in your custody. And keeping someone up days on end is like that: it causes madness. That's well-documented.
Granted, you can't treat everyone all nice and send them flowers after the kill one of our citizens...but all this is doing it pissing more people off to where they want to attack us. Torturing people doesn't solve anything..it just causes more probelems.

scharader12 - Lies and then lies that his lies are "facts".
1) Many army interrogators are on record, stating that water boarding and torture does not work.
2) Prisoners will often give false information and say anything interrogators want to hear under water boarding.
3.) The above reasons are precisely why water boarding is against International Laws and many countries less civilized than our own have banned it.
4.) Torturing them will only lead to more of them torturing us - DUH AGAIN.
