  • Alanis is so special <3

  • Its kinda dark. I'm pretty sure it is the tale of a young, under age girl who fell for and older man she worked for. They had some what of a relationship for a time. He promised her the world, saying nice things to her but told her to keep it secret. Years on, they must of gone their seperate ways and she kept it quiet but he just got on with life, washed his has clean of what happened. Represented by the man entering the bar at the begining and end. She smiles with no regrets in the end :)

  • I still do not understand the song...........

    but I just love it!

  • I always thought this song was about a younger guy, but I see the guy in the video is old. Did I misinterpret it, or did anyone else think the same as me?

  • @NovaChew she's writing from the perspective of an older guy that helped her in the music business.

  • literally one of the best songs and videos ever made.

  • I love her songs! I wish they would play her songs on the radio!!!!

  • Um. It just dawned on me... is this song about being in love with a man and keeping it a secret? Like, an affair?

  • @stairwaygoddess No it's about when she was younger she had a much older man who took advantage of her age and forged a relationship with her- and like most of those types told her to keep quiet about it.

  • I didn't know Scott Thompson was in this video. I love Scott Thompson.

  • ur amazing!!!!

  • I lo ve her, I love her songs, its message its personality ♥ me encanta

  • I use to listen to this song when I was just a little girl in the early 2000's. God, good memories... I miss them.

  • On some awards they asked her *who do you want to thank* and she said NONE,I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING BY MYSELF.. and man this woman rocks!

  • @eeiness That was from a home movie and it was a joke...

  • przepadam po prostu za tym kawałkiem :)***

  • US

  • Milk:P

  • What part of your memory is selective and tends to forget?

  • I had something similar happen to me too :(

  • musica muito boa! =)

  • Great song. Dumb video.

  • "Just make sure you don't tell on me, especially to members of your family. We best keep this to ourselves and not tell any members of our inner posse. I wish I could tell the world, 'cause you're such a pretty thing when you're done up properly. I might want to marry you one day if you watch that weight and you keep your firm body." Well, after 20 years I have TOLD, R. Have you?

  • 2002 :'(

  • i'm a 22 year old dude, and i think Alanis Morrissette is amazing. i think it's probably cuz my mom is a HUGE Morrissette fan and i know almost every damn song! haha doesn't matter. i think she rules!!

  • @1SpeedDean WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE DUDE I USE TO LISTEN TO HER ALL THE TIME AND THIS IS WHAT I CALL MUSIC HER FRIST ALBUMS AND MUSIC WAS JUST REALLY AMAZING, MUSIC WILL NEVER BE THE SAME HANDS DOWN

  • @notthesameman agreed, good sir!

  • @1SpeedDean glad you like her music, it will always rock for ever, she comes from a time that has been forgotten at her time she was on all music channels before you went to school and when you got out she was rocking out on the radio, along with all great 90s music

  • @1SpeedDean Same for me except I am only 19 I grew up listening to this and I'll never stop listening to the whole CD Jagged Little Pill

  • @maximus3693

Yeah.... Jagged Little Pill is an absolute classic, one of the few albums you can listen to back to back

  • @maximus3693 I feel you. I never heard any of her albums at all. Just from radio and MTV. She is a great writer and singer though. I'm thinking about downloading all of her albums now. Always liked her music.

  • @1SpeedDean maybe there is hope for our generation yet...

  • @cbone6754 no, no hope. i just have great taste in music is all. people these days don't know good music.

  • @1SpeedDean i agree that there's no hope for this generation. we HAD alanis. we HAVE kesha.

  • @1SpeedDean She does man and never associate music with age. Music is timeless, the quality of music doesn't depend on the year it was written but who wrote it and how much heart they but into it!

  • @1SpeedDean wow im also 22 y.o. man that likes it... thank god im not the only one. I keep it a secret though

  • @NoWorriesNoProblem no shame in like Alanis. it's just real music. keep it real.

  • Ooooooo this could get messy............. my last relationship exactly.

  • Absolutely kick-ass tune.

  • Sorry this happened to Alanis :-( (the event described by the song)

  • one of the greatest female performers of the last 20 years. she's just incredible.

  • #$%@#%@#% That song from Rihanna (chest to Chest) starts the same. Everytime I hear that song on the radio I hope it is Alanis, but it is always the freaking Rihanna song! Pfff, where did good music go?

  • @skycrap you mean california king bed....

    i HATE that song

  • @skycrap Wow i never really noticed that, but i searched "hands clean" and "California king bed" together on google, and it seems a lot of people thing they begin similarly.

  • @siddique20 Yeah, when I first heard the beginning of California King Bed, I thought it was going to be this song XD

  • school, best friends, no worries... i love this song!!

  • It took me a few times listening to it to realize the lyrics are words the older man told her. Kind of makes the song sad to me, but still a very beautiful tune.

  • Alanis Rocks! She is a true feminist, asking no quarter, free to be herself with no regrets, ignoring the judgement of others. And one heckuva singer, by the way.

  • " I wish I could tell the world, cause you're such a pretty thing when you're done up properly"

  • I might wanna marry you one day if you watch that weight and keep your firm body... <3

  • @daytripperarrabal And for that comment you blew any chance of that happening..

  • @jessicafunnelscott truth sucks :)

  • I love how she tells the story in this song. Such clarity of meaning with great music behind it. I think everyone can relate to it, at least some.

  • she has the best video clips in all her songs..!!

  • wow i havent heard this song since i was a teenager!

  • This song got me through a really hard time when I was a kid; the song is about an older man taking an advantage of a young girl in an appropriate way and how difficult it is to process for the girl. I went though that when I was 14, and this song kept me from the edge.

  • oh, i used to love this video, brings back such memories

  • Why are Dean Haglund and Scott Thompson in this music video?

  • YUI brought me here~

  • OMG this track just touches my soul

  • the lyrics of this song sound gay to me lol but I love it! (specially that I'm a homo) lol

  • She does have a good voice.

  • I LOVE good vibes ALANIS!!!

  • Talented, smart and gorgeous. Who in their right mind would dump this woman. I would give up any chick for this woman. I would drink her bath water.

  • Powerful !!!

  • What I REALLY like about this song, is , to me, it's irrelevant, whether it's fiction, or not. I like the Honesty of this song. She knows how things work. AND, calls a "spade a spade".

  • She had a relationship with Prince Humperdink? That guy was a dick anyways. I can see why it didn't work. And thumbs up if you noticed Scott Thompson.

  • haha i was named Alanah because of her and now i know why. amazing, also i think i got the attitude.. :L

  • 90% of youtube users close videos before they open cause stupid spots -.-

  • HER BEST SONG.

  • DAVE COULIER

  • hope she has an album out soon. she`s an amazing song writer.

  • this song has great lyrics

  • Alanis eu amo você!!!

  • 25 People don't have clean hands.

  • 25 guys are retarded

  • Awesome!

  • such an up-beat yet heartwrenching song. Wonder what Leslie thinks of it...

  • She is so beautiful in so many ways, voice, looks, style, personality, and her soul. She is just all around a beautiful human being. She is one of the only things that keeps my faith in humanity.

  • so 90's... memories :')

  • @DianaPorta Yeah, but this song was from 2002.

  • @NickTerra1 isn't it ironic? don't u think haha :D

  • אהוב עלי מאוד.!

  • ...memories...

  • Great to see to the first seconds and to the ends, Chris Sarandon*The Vampire in the movie *Fright Night 1985*

    in this video of Alanis.

  • Not a big fan of her but do like this song

  • @jack69ist Why not a big fan of a valid artist?

  • Beyond addictive. Seems to generate a chemical in the body that makes it impossible to get tired of hearing it. Is that possible?

    Damned if I know.

Even the chatty lyric works. This could get messy ...
