  • It was all luck

  • Catch was not even top 50 all time

  • the catch mad this the greatest superbowl ever upset or not period

  • It's up there- but I think the next Super Bowl was better, as was Santonio Holmes' GW catch

  • superbowl xlii is the best

  • That was one if the luckiest catches I've ever seen and not even that good of one

  • @bballing4ever not that good of a catch ur either a mad patriots fan or mad as hell the giants were the better team that day

  • that was the lukciest catch ever

  • omg that looked so easy to catch i could catch that n im onkly 8

  • guy at start needs to calm down

  • no one even mentions the once in a lifetime terry porter pick six in the redzone on PEYTON manning?! that drive couldve been an amazing indianapolis game winner but turns out to be an even more amazing new orleans game winner! SB XLIV FTW!!!!

  • @MetalGearPwnd its Tracy Porter not Terry....

Where did you get Terry from?

  • @CHAKRA5543 lol tru dat.. idk who terry porter is either...

  • @MetalGearPwnd SB XLIV was not the greatest ever. Not even close. I mean, good for the Saints and all and the city of New Orleans for that matter, but nothing compares to this.

  • Worst day ever :(

  • Best day ever :)

  • I do believe that the pass to Tyree was the greatest play in super bowl history, maybe in NFL history, but overall this super bowl was boring until the final quarter. As for an exciting super bowl the whole way through, even the Steelers-Cardinals one last year should be near the top.

  • Doesn't anyone realize the biggest deficit in superbowl XLII was 4 points

  • Def. the best catch, not sure about the best game. It's gotta be top 3 though. We're getting spoiled these last couple superbowls.

  • Depends who you root for. Being a Giants fan, the SB42 was more unbelievable and dramatic to me than SB43. But SB43 had more exciting moments as Bigbadben7 mentions. I notice how both games were similar in that the action did not really pick up into the final moments of the game. The Cards looked done for most of the game until desperation hit in and they went all out forcing the Steelers to counter that desperation culminating in the final drive. SB42 was the same with regards to the 4Q.

  • has this guy never heard of the D line of theSteelrs of the 70s who sacked the major mobile legend of Roger Staubach in SB X 7 times, and knocked the ball out of his hands multible times?

  • This game was boring until the last two drives.

It stayed 7-3 for too long.

there was one spectacular play, the Tyree catch.

In SB XLIII a year later you had the Harrison 100 yd int return for a TD, The Fitzgerald 65 yd TD and the Ben drive ending with the great Homes TD catch.

  • @Bigbadben7 Yes and you forgot to mention the most salient point, which is that more history was on the line in SB 42. No team had ever been 18-0 in the Super Bowl before. SB 43, not so much.

  • Again, just the game it's self being a SB, not the surronding events, just the game, 43 was better.

Also, The Steelrs were attempting to become the first franchize to win 6 SBs, not as big as one team going 19-0 but you said "Not so much" my point is that there was some history at stake and 43 not only was a beter game it actually delieverd the history making moment.

  • superbowl 43 was a better game but what 42 did that blew 43 out of the water was the upset.

  • Again, 42 being an upset does not make the game better.

An upset is not a good thing for the massses, just as many people pull for the favorite.

An upset doesn't make a football game between pro teams any better of a game because in the level of the NFL their is really no such thing as an upset.

In 20 years from now DVD highlight films will mention the surrounding aspects but al tht matters in retrospect is the game in self between the AFC and NFC champions.

  • I mean yes SB 42 was more exciting in the heat of the moment because of the upset factor, the Boston vs NY rivialy, one tem attempting to go 19-0, but that is in the heat of the moment, not in hindsight.

  • i am agreeing that 43 was more exciting and more competitive but 42 was a better moment and more significant in football history. the steelers and cardinals both had great offenses and have been known for that all season long so people expected the cardinals to put up some a fight, the favorite was the steelers by 7 in that game, while the pats were a favorite by 14.

  • @admirilawesome1 lalalala i can't hear you over all the cussin'! L@wL$

  • So am I to take it that, beating a team that, if they had won, would be the FIRST team ever in NFL history to record 19 victories, 0 loses is NOT history? Why is SB XXIX not mentioned then, when SF became first team to win 5 SBs? I reject this decidedly illogical position of yours that winning 6 is bigger than a team (almost) going perfect.

And again, I repeat, the better game is solely dependent on the viewer. I was standing during the entire SB 42. Can't say I cared too much about SB 43

  • You were standing all of 42 because of the context but the game it's self was 7-3 and had NE had even one loss the game would have been considered boring.

Are you saying VII is exciting because of 17-0?

SF was the first to win 5 in a blow out not a final drive.

XLII wasn't even one of the top 5 best SBs IMO, X, XIII, XIV, XXIII, XXV, XXXII, XXXIV, XXXVI, XXXVIII up to that point were as good if not better then XLIII was added.

  • I don't know by which list you're claiming SB XLII has no right to belong, but half the ones you listed weren't memorable otherwise they'd still be talked about.

NFL Network made their own Top 10, and XLII beat out XLIII. And XXV was number 1. You're credibility is shot because you're a Steelers fan who thinks only Pittsburgh has played in clutch SBs. Sorry there's no difference between SB XIV or XXI. I can think of 4 SBs that were better than those two.

  • SB XXI was a blow out after the 2nd half started, SB XIV is the only SB were the lead literally changed hands 6 times.

SB XLII was a good game but to much imphasis is placed on the surronding events, that's the same reason SB III makes those same list but the game sucked.

I agree XLII was better than III but even XXV was boring and only gets the nod because of the one point differnce in the score.

I'm not saying only Steelers SBs are clutch, I mentioned XXIII, XXV, XXXII,XXXVIII, XXXIV, XXXVI

  • More babble. More babble. XXV was not boring, and anyone who says otherwise is an imbecile. XLII was hyped because of history, for the same reasons XLIII was not, because no one was talking about Pittsburgh winning its 6th trophy because no one cared. A team going undefeated, that's something to talk about because it would be much less frequent. Many teams are going to reach 6 and more sooner or later, going undefeated is far less frequent. XLIII < XLII. Sorry you can't get me to concede.

  • Again you keep talking about the surronding context.

By the same token was SB VII exiting becasue of the potential of 17-0? No.

    That game was boring.

XLII was better than that but you make it sound like if XLII would have been a blow out in NYG favor it would ahe been a good game because of the upset of preveting history.

I am talking about The Game, The Game, The Game!

    Just The Game!

Even still, tons of articles were talking about going for the Six pack before XLIII.

  • SB XXV was not boring inthe traditional sense but compared to some of the others I listed it was.

Go bacl and whatch the highlights or the whole game of XIV on Youtube and see how the lead changed hands 6 times and even when Pittsburgh took the lead for good how L.A. was drinving again and as for the surronding history Pittsburgh was alrady a 3-0 in SBs team of the 70's and were a 12 point favorite, LA was a 9-7 suck team with a back up QB.

  • yes I am a connoisseur of NFL history thanks and won't be taking lessons from you. So because Pittsburgh didn't have a defense that year and let a mediocre team with a backup QB nearly beat them makes it a memorable SB? No sorry. You can't have it both ways. You can't insist on XIV being memorable and yet call XXV boring when the Giants had a backup QB and backup RB (MVP) beat a Bills team that were favorited to win. XLIII was I'd say the most memorable Steeler SB but top 5? Hardly.

  • First of all the 79 Steelers gave up only 262 points in 16 games and their D shut down Earl Campbell in the AFC title game for the 2nd straight year and in SB XIV they sacked Feregamo 5 times and made the int when it mattered.

Hostetler was a backup but playing a team in it's first SB, Feregamo was playing the team of the Decade who was going for it's 4th SB win.

SB XLIII on line right now is being clled maybe the Best SB Ever, look it up.

  • XLII had one great play, the Tyree catch.

XLIII has the most memorable ending to a first half ever period, not just in a SB and it had the dram of the Steelers being pinned back and giving up the safety which then allowed the big 65 yd catch and run by Fitz to take the lead in dramatic fasion, then the drive by Pittsburgh that ended in a great catch.

So both XLII and XLIII had great final drives with great catches but XLII doesn't have the other types of plays I mentioned for XLIII.

  • @Bigbadben7 why are the giving credit to tyree eli had the breakaway.it would of been over if he didnt escape

  • @TheWingman979 Eli's break away was just as important I agree.

  • that was the best catch i ever cean in my life i dont like the giants but that was a good test

  • This game stands as the greatest game I have ever watched, I LOVE the giants, and both mannings and hate brady and the cheatriots. That helmet catch was just.... lol i think god helped david steady the ball!

  • this guy is annoying as fuck

  • i know right these damn yankees

  • Yeah. I'm a Giants fan, reveled in the victory---but this a**hole is a complete moron.

  • you know whats kinda funny, the last two times the giants had home field advantage they lost, and when they had to go on the road, they won it all

  • THE GIANTS ARE BEAST<3

  • listen tothe video he takes it back he says maybe not the best evr bt they were phenoomenal

  • they will be close to as good as the steel curtain this year man that line is going to be dangerous!!!!!!

  • hey, first of all let me compliment you on your spelling, you must have graduated from grade 1 to be able to write like that eh? You're right the Giants suck they only finished with the best record in the NFC, and lost a close one to the eagles. Now let's look at your team, which im guessing can either be the patriots or the cowboys (main giants hater)...Cowboys....overated nuff said, Patriots, nearly made the playoffs....hahahahahahahaha dick

  • great coaching and the best defensive line ever idn about ever but osi tuck robbins and stray its gonna be a close call

  • Like how he doesnt mention the actual BEST defensive line and all around defense of all time - The Steel Curtain

  • Comment removed

  • 60's packers, 70's steelers, 80's 49'ers, 90's cowboys and the 00's Patriots. Who would say is the weakest team of the decade. Me i would have to go with the patriots. They won their three super bowls by a combined 9 points and lost a super bowl in the decade too

  • energetic fun smart and loves this video

ANYONE UP? I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO nq

  • jchappy08 back in the 80's the 49ers went 18-1 and won the superbowl!!!! u dont know shit bout football! GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jchappy: Bitter, much?

  • there have been other 18-1 teams. a couple that would absolutely demolish the '07 pats, namely the '84 49ers and the '85 Bears.

  • dude the 07 pats were the best 18-1 team, hate to say it but its true.

  • You know, i'm not a pats hater, but i gets to me when people say they're the greatest because they had a 16-0 regular season. They were simply this decades '98 Minnesota Vikings. As you may know the Vikings in 1998 went 15-1 and really should have gone 16-0 (they lost by a score to Tampa in a game that included many mental mishaps as I recall). Anyway going into the playoffs they were being crowded the greatest team in history, before they had won anything.

  • That vikings team was very similar to the '07 pats. They had a high powered, high flying offense that was dominated by Randy Moss, and they too broke the scoring record and held it til the pats broke it in '07. But they enter the playoffs and expected to Roll through everyone just like the Pats and ended up losing in a shocker of an NFC title game to the ATL Falcons. That team and the '07 Pats team are mirror images of each other with only two major differences. One being '98 Minne's one loss.

  • and the other being the fact that the pats got to the super bowl. Those two reasons are also the reasons no one really remembers the '98 Vikes. But if you ask me those team were = in power. I'm sure most people disagree, but I believe this to be true simply just because I remember how great they were that year and in '07 I saw their equals. I also am a Saints fan so I consider my theory unbiased. Also both the Vikes and Pats were involved in 4 games where the score difference was 7 or less pnts.

  • @admirilawesome1 can't be as good as all the teams that went 15-1 in the reg season and won the super bowl don't be retarded a team that didn't complete the ultimate goal can't be better than one who did dumb fuck

  • im trying to say they were the most talented and had were one of the best assembled teams you fucking dipshit.

  • it was a lucky catch he didnt put tht much skill in it and tht isnt the best defensive line ever thts all i have to say

  • Still sore huh, it doesn't matter you can't take it away from them or diminish it.

  • I guess the Patriots offense wasn't that greatest either...to get held to only 14 points by a mediocre defense.

  • wat nigg stop hatin they bust they ass

  • um shadowgx9222 learn how to write a sentence

  • i was sooo happy when the giants won i cant stand the patriots

  • dude, get a fucking grip.

    "took em all down"?

18-0 sounds like taking em all down to me.

    still have the best record.

    picking pockets my ass.

  • you can keep your 18-1 record, we'll keep the ring ;)

  • all due respect to the bears,,,,well u guys r right, but a team that is hungry , i mean they was hungry they went all out , d-line of the giants deserved the final saying, they are the best..

  • how does he say the giants had the best d-line is he stupid everyone knows its the steal curtain 75 steelers baby

  • yeah, 75 steelers, 85 bears, and the 02 bucs were pretty brutal.

  • i like sb38 it was a classic game from start to finish and i have heard alot of good things about steelers/cowboys especially that finish or giants/bills

  • The Giants defensive line is good but the Steelcurtain is still the greatest Tom Brady would shit his pants looking at Mean Joe Greene

  • bob lilly was a great d lineman too

  • whos the retard?

  • Does anyone remember this cunt from when eli and tiki were fighting " I personally don't like eli mannings playing style " and now he acts like he didin't say shit, fuck him

  • F u

  • top 5 greatest SB of all time, and certainly greatest SB catch of all time

  • Green Bay/Denver was a good game...Personally (next to XLII because I am a die hard Giants fan) My favorite Super Bowl was Saint Louis Rams vs Tennesse Titans Super Bowl XXXIV....I thought that was an awesome game, I was pulling for the Titans to win that one, but I was not disappointed by the ending. Carolina and New England wasnt a bad game either!

  • not the greatest game ever but definitaly the greatest upset in super bowl history

  • Namath's #1

Was like the Yankees gettin beat by a AAA team

  • well that was great upset i think giants was better 18-0 team vs team that that got bash around by everyone the prove the world wrong although jets was upset i give it number 2 although first real big upset in football i give u that

  • I'd also put XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIV far ahead of that game. Most of this game was like WWI combat until the last QTR. XXV, XVI, XIII and XXX were on the list as they were complete games.

  • best game ever probably is giants vs bills they were no pelnties at all at the game and score was 20-19 closes game in history

  • It probably was until Sb XXXII Den vs GB. XXV was a great trenches battle, but it did have some dull moments and it had too many fg's for my taste. The long possesions by the Giants did it's job at killign the clock and keeping Buffalo off the field, but it wasn't exciting to watch. I was almost bored until the the last half. SB XXXII was wire to wire excitment. There were hardly any dull moments in that one at all. Every possesion counted one way or another. It was also a much better story.

  • thats true but now when i think about it ur right i watch all 3 super bowls giants vs bills denver vs packers and giants vs patriots had three i like 42 better i like defensive games better i don't know why i don't like high scoring games and ur right after watch it again it was pretty boring lol no what was funny we won that super bowl with back up quarterback lol

  • A good game, but it wasn't the best Super Bowl ever. I think that distinction goes to Super Bowl XXXII Denver VS. GB. that game was supposed to be the crowning of Favre as a Back to Back champion. The NFC had a 13 game winnning streak and Denver limped in the playoffs as a widl card after starting so great. It was probably the most gut wrenching game to watch as the swings in the game went back and forth, but it was Denver's "undersized" O line that owned the Packer D.

  • I agree with ishmaiden that the denver vs greenbay was the greatest superbowl ever.

I think that this was the greatest superbowl drive though...and the greatest superbowl play (tyree catch) and that may be the greatest nfl play ever.

  • Maybe the greatest play, but not the greatest drive. New York had help as NE couldn't wrap up the game with the big sack and two chances at INT's. The greatest drive in SB history is still the 49ers winnign drive in SB XXIII. Montana and co. Went 92 yards, which did not include the pemalties, and they took apart the tough Bengal D that kept Montana's offense in check for most of the game. That drive was like a work of art and Joe cut up the D with all surgical passing.

  • but sf was not the underdogs that the giants were and very few would have thought eli was ready to pull off a drive like that. And it was a drive that won a superbowl against a previously unbeaten team. And i give eli credit for that sack not happening. Im an eagles fan so i am not biased towards the giants at all.

So with those factors considered I would give this the nod over the SF drive. But that would be my second choice.

  • We're talking about greatest drives period. Not who was an underdog and who was favcred. Montana also had alot agaisnt him. He was kept out of the end zone until the 4th qtr, plus he also nearly lost his job to Steve Young early that season. That team also came back from the brink of not even making the playoffs at all. NYG had lucky breaks and took advantage of them. SF simply took what they wanted without apearing to break a sweat, despite Montana hyperventing as he went along.

  • Two other great drives in SB history are Denver pounding the over sized GB D in SB 32 and the near winning drive of the Titans vs STL in 34. DEN had to overcome a huge size difference when facing the likes of Reggie White and Gilbert Brown. That last drive was simply lights out muscle vs girth. It was TD and that O line making that great D suck air at the end of the game. That drive broke 13 in a row for the NFC and dethrowned a defending champ that was also heavily favored to repeat.

  • Its funny, i would give that denver drive the 3rd place.

I guess we just disagree...to me that giant drive was the greatest drive ever because of the factors i wrote.

  • Sorry I disagree with you...the 49ers were down by 3 they only needed to get in field goal range to tie the game. And facing the 88 Bengals D was nowhere near the difficulty level as facing the 07 Patriots D. So I'll go with Eli's drive over Montana's.

  • didn't you pick the patriots at the beginning of the year?

  • Eli manning it's great I thought about it since he started to playingin the Giants, now I think that he become a Legend

  • Eli's the MVP cause by the time there was 2 minutes left on that clock HE had to make that score go up. The Defense did play a great game, but by the last two minutes they did all they could do. And it was in Eli's hands from there. And if he didn't do what he did, they would have lost that game by 4 points. End of story. Eli saved the game. THAT is why he is the MVP.

  • Honestly, are you trying to do stand up comedy or something?

  • Hey fat boy, you think you're funny? Leave the color to Berman. Tyree ROCKS!

  • fuck tiki barber. He is the sickest man in America. Good his bald ass retired after disgracing his team like that. So glad the G-Men won the SB after he left becuz of his comments.

  • From this point forward NO ONE is going to bash Eli Manning and no matter what happens from here on out he will still be a Legend in New York. He hushed the critics who have been bashing him ever since he got here. He's a Superbowl Champion and MVP and had the GREATEST CLUTCH performance in the history of the NFL. Nothing can beat that.

    ELI

    AM

    LEGEND

  • heyy all you retards dont no what your talking about! eli is my fricken cousin and all you fags think you now him so well. well you dont hes awesome and i bet you wouldnt be sayin that if he was standed in front of you asses youd all be kissin his ass

  • Yeah that's not an obvious lie

  • no hes my cousin

i just saw him at grandma;s b-day party

  • say what you want about eli, he won a superbowl and an mvp. he did something other quartbacks in his draft haven't. Big Ben won a superbowl but not like eli, he didnt have much to do in that game. Eli marched the giants down field with a lil over two minutes left in the game and pushed the giants to a title. There's no way you can say he's a bad player anymore. Plus he made brady look like he was gonn throw up and all of boston want to kill themselves which is cool with me

  • im a giants fan..

but i must say if it wasnt for the giants defense, then the patriots would have been in the 30's and the giants would be 17. get the drift so eli realli is a little bitch i still think..

david tyre mvp or the d. line

  • well that's the point of football. you gotta have a defense and an offense that both do their job. eli manning and the offense did what they had to do which is put up 17 points. i think he did a great job. i mean he threw two fourth quarter touchdowns and he did escape that sack at the end. the d line def did a spectacular job and i believe the mvp could have gone to anybody. but i really dont think eli manning is a bitch anymore. he steps up when he needs to.

  • LMAO

  • I'm a big fan of the Young Turks, but Cenk had to be sick, too.

"I don't like Eli Manning as a player. He's weak sauce if you ask me."

    - Cenk from Aug 2007

  • Manning got hot for four games. He still blows. What I hate about him more than anything is his crybaby, primadonna attitude that got him the trade from San Diego to New York

  • dude i he didn't want to be on that time they did suck then come on i wounldn't blame him i would like be on winning team i do the same thing look don't be mad u got rip of with rivera he sucks lol plus he probably didn't want to go what his father went through which i don't blame them.

  • I'm not a chargers fan, so it's not about that. Keep in mind that the Giants had like the 3rd or 4th pick that year, so they were awful then too. Sooooo, your logic is lacking.

  • really though there were playoffs the year before not sure at curiousity can tell em i am not sure?

  • i dont blame him either, archie probably wants to shoot himself in the head hwen he thinks about how he never went to the playoffs. Im sure his dad pushed for him to get away from SD.

  • yeah but still both are good teams and honestly chargers would have beaten patriots if they didn't vs colts who injuryed every person on there team but colts vs chargers was an amzing game though

  • hhahahahha hows he a crybaby? i never saw him cry. you just suck dick and mad that eli manning can never be critized again! he won the goddamn superbowl you dumb fuck, how does he blow? and all your bull shit about him just getting hot, they had two weeks off you fucken cock sucker! all the momentum was gone during that period of time.

so do us all a favor and go shoot yourself because you dont no shit

  • Trent Dilfer won a super bowl too. I rest my case. Think about what you're saying before you spew out a bunch of shit

  • wow! ur so dumb! dilfer didnt do shit for the ravens it was all the defense. was dilfer the mvp of that game? i dont think so. your tryin to make an argument over 2 different qbs

  • The Giants' defense won them this super bowl. It was all about their defensive line. Go back and read what you read, your brain doesn't fucking work

  • yea the d-line played a hell of a game but hbu go back and go watch the last 2 minutes of the game, your brain doesn't fucking work

  • Manning had a lucky scramble and an overthrow to his receiver who made an awesome catch

  • yeah but trent dilfer did not lead his team to victory within the waning seconds of the superbowl against one of the best defenses in the nfl

  • Cenk, you familiar with the Steel Curtain?

Why wasn't that defensive line even mentioned?

They were the greatest ever, and not even mentioned. Mean Joe and the boys dominated.

  • ur right, the steel curtain was amazing. Funny thing is, though, no one will mention this giants line as a greatest ever, so atleast he did.

  • Cenk is probably too young to remember the Steel Curtain, the Purple People Eaters or the Monsters of the Midway

  • HE's right!! AWESOME DEFENSE!

  • i hate football, but i loved that douche bag tom brady's face after the game

  • What makes Tom Brady a douche bag?

  • his personality, his aura

  • Haha. Yeah he really has a douchey aura.

  • because Tom Brady loves sacks XD

  • why you here if this is about FOOTBALL?

  • I love how after every play that didnt work out the right way he looked like he was about to cry, hahahahaha what a douche bag, belicheat too

  • pats sux. they knew the giants were going to go mad dog. the should'd changed their strategy

i call it the curse of the bambino for football!
