  • I play a stuff like this right now because the rest of the kit is being refinished.

It is horrible because the tom is moving backward makes impossible to use double pedal.

  • Nice one Mike Shinoda!

  • A 12" kick drum. NICE!

  • LOOOL cute drum bass xDD

  • Sounding good bro

  • Is that a pork pie snare?

Nice gig kit, do you miss not having any toms?

  • wow!! this is fucking genius!!!

  • Really clever! I saw in central park this little jazz trio and the drummer had a 12 inch tom bass drum but it was just on top of a towel or something. Not quite as smart as just flipping your mount around like you did.

  • Yeahh!!

  • Wow that 12'' tom sounds massive

  • It is amazing the stuff for drums and what you can do to them now, from heads to accessories.

  • Pretty neat idea! It would be nice to have at least one tom though lol

  • Yamaha Groove Wedge

  • What's that thing on the snare?

  • @dremkwil to my knowledge that is some kind of wood piece you attach to a snare drum for rim shots :)

  • What did you do to get a bass pedal on to it?!?!

What did you attach it to so you can have used as a bass drum!?!?!

  • Nothing. The pedal has velcro underneath so it doesn't move on a rug. I just placed it right in front of the tom, which is held with it's tom holder.

  • Thick head, loose tuning and a pillow for muffling. It sounds like that because of the acoustics of the room, put it anywhere else and it wouldn't work as well.

  • @joecool007 how did you get this tom to be a bass drum? thanks!!

  • how did you get that tom to be a bass drum???

  • how do you attach the BD pedal so it doesnt move?

  • Saw many drummers on the streets of New York playing on nice little kits like this.

  • hehehe im making one of these too for small gigs with a friend of mine

making it for just € 55 in total :D

  • 55€ in total? i mean youn need a floortom for at least 40€ (the cheapest one that i know, from millenium), a pearl jungle adapter for about 30€ and another adapter for the tom holder, which doesnt exist at a floor tom, but which you need to mount the pedal end of the jungle thing ...

how can your solution be so cheap?

  • Awesome bass drum!

Just wondering how you tuned it, it would be really nice if you could tell me because I have been playing with one like that in the city to try to make a few bucks but it doesn't sound that great!

  • Thanks! Actually you can check out my other video Floor Tom to Bass Drum in which I actually converted a 16" Floor Tom and sounds much better than this. What I did here is I placed a small pillow inside used a Remo Pinstripe head and tuned it almost loose (tightened by hand and then gave it a bit more with a drumkey). What helps here is the size and acoustics of the room (it's preety small). Hope it helps!

  • Thanks for the quick response!

I also use a Remo Pinstripe that's very loose, just doesn't sound that good for me.

    I'll keep playing with it!

  • Of course! You should try it with a bigger tom then. Not a 12" but a 14" instead. It should give you a somewhat bigger sound.

  • I did the same thing to a 13 inch floor tom but went a little bit farther by getting the gibraltar gunnet spurs and pedal adapter and removing the drum wrap. after wards a friend of mine sanded, stained and polyurethaned the outer shell and i put some old floor tom mounts onto it so the spurs would fit. Then i installed an old snare dampening felt system on the inside of it. looks great too put some thick heads on it and put a towel in it, itll sound great.

  • yeah i thought that too... nice attack!

  • nice!! wat is the depth of the tom? n wat brand is it?

  • Thanks! It's a Yamaha Stage Custom 12x10 tom. You can also check my other video "Floor Tom to Bass Drum" in which I use a 16x14 Floor Tom (which is more versatile than this). Take Care.

  • wow thats pretty simple u just took a mounted tom and turned it and brought the other stuff lol

  • nah i bet it sounds decent..its just the room hes in

  • Hahaha, People are more n more getting in to weak bass drum sounds because of downloading shitty <128 kbps files. Funny really!

  • most BD sound you hear in modern recordings are made with triggers, samplers or actual small bass drums, the tendency is lots of attack and not a lot of low end. thank Ipod, mp3 and small earpieces for that. who wants to carry around two 24" bass drums anyways?

  • I like your groove!, it's like the mine, or the mine is like u? xD, good job D;

  • I've been wanting to do something like that for years! How did you rig the 12" tom to stay in one place?

  • Thanks for watching! Actually the 12" tom is on a conventional tom holder, which is attached to the cymbal stand. (the normal way you'd do it only that the tom is facing "forward", like a bass drum). The pedal is actually on the floor rug and not attached to the tom because it has velcro underneath so it doesn't move around. Hope it helps!

  • Ohh! I see what you did. Very nice! I'm gonna need to try that soon. Thanks!
