Head injuries are very tricky due the nature of the blood vessels in the head. He must have had a concussion from this and he is showing symptoms of a concussion now.

I don't understand why an MRI does not show the source of bleeding.

This is typical awards show protocol to be 'ready' to cut away at split second notice. That is why the cut away to another performer was so fast.
