How far out do you go on average? We don't have sharks here but we do have drumfish and some rate up to 40 or 45 kilograms. So they are a worthwhile catch. We also have very big rays here and they are fine eating. Problem here is you have to get your bait out over 100 meters to expect getting to those monsters. My Kayak is a Malibu Sit on top two-seatrer weighing in at some 64 pounds. A bit of an ordeal...
I'm sorry if I seem to ask a dumb question... It seems you're using PENN Senator reels... which are trolling reels. How did you get your bait out? You can't really cast those reels (at least I can't seem to). So what did you do? Did you row a boat out?? Thanks for the answer.

The truth is the condo corporations & hotels only own a small portion of the beach, from the hightide mark to the ocean is state property, and inbetween those two is the city/town's property.
@BlacktipH We have a few streams that run through our property and its kind of the same If the water does not come out of the ground on our land we cant own it so people think they can float down it. But we just put a fence about 2inches above it. lol

When we are using gear this size, we are usually targeting larger sharks like hammers, tigers, and bulls. A big hammer will strip an 80w to the knot.

If you put more line, the line will probably come off the spool or you will get bad wind knots. What size shark are you targeting?
