i love REAL country music, not that studio country shit all over the radio today, like i told my wife, if its not about a bar, truck,or a lost love its not country.live long waylon
I always enjoyed haerihg WAYLON sing this then I was asking my cousin if he knew which WAYLON album it was on he laughed and told me none so he bet me a case of beer on it we finally found it on cassete at a truck stop got the beer and drank it together so he didnt lose anything i guess.TC
@stakfan Glad you got that right Brian, worth a beer win or lose, of course you wasn't in any danger of losing that bet ( But you new that ) tc my friend
I love how Waylon does the verses in 4/4 and the chorus in 3/4. Never heard anybody else do that with this one. It makes the chorus stand out even more, which just makes it seem more significant in the narrative of the song. Plus it gives the verses that fool stompin' Waylon feel, which is always awesome. Waylon's arrangement is absolutely genius.
Great comment Jim ..Waylon does make a tune his very own, and another thing about him he is so diverse, he can take any tune and give it the treatment, sounds like a brand new song. take care my friend
Thanks teddie488 for posting this one. I have been looking for this one for a long time. The first time I heard this song, was on one of my CD's I bought. Thanks again.
WOW!! I never knew Waylon sang this song!! The best version ever!!! I love his guitar playing at the end!!! Leaves no doubt at all who's song it is!! Thanks Eddie!!!!!
Love that Waylon version better than Kenny Rogers! Great post!
I have a request that I have never found here...a CD in 1998 called Old Dogs...had Waylon Jennings, Jerry Reed, Bobby Bare, and Mel Tillis. The song was called 'Rough on the Living.' Produced by famous poet Shel Silverstein. Wondered if you had that song, or one other on the CD called 'I Don't Do It No More.' Both headlined by Waylon. Thanks Eddie, for all the great music.
Great song!! Waylon was a pure artist! He and Cash are the only people who could take a song made famous by someone else and make it their own! 2 LEGENDS Love Jennings!

This is a great album "Old Dogs." And I LOVE Waylon singing "I don't do it no more." Especially about the "Ladies, 2 at a time." Sooo funny.
