  • what a joke lol

  • I don't think anyone can match up against Ricardo Martinez. If Ippo manages to evolve the dempsey roll i still think a shot at Ricardo will still end in failure. (I also Know that Ippo isn't going for the WBA but The WBC.) Sendo on the other hand I think will get slaughtered. I'm not dissing Sendo but seriously Ricardo is an Undefeated 65 title defense Champion.

  • LOL! c-c-combo breaker!

  • @ImHotCozImFlat Fuck yeah!

  • A lot of people in my city say that Mexican arms are very slim again the our own back... cuz that look like a ropes hiting.

  • only pacquiao can beat the mexicans hehehe . . thumbs up! ^^

  • Mexican Power Ahuevo!

  • Is that Pacquiao hahaa!

  • WHAT EPISODE IS THIS????? HOLY SHIIIITT!!!

  • 3:59 Punishment of Dempsey Roll

  • What episode is this?

  • wow i gotta start watching this show.

  • I was wondering why his gloves were getting bigger...but then it HIT me

  • 4:00-4:12...Brutal

  • This guy is strong. Hits like that shouldn't have much power, but that left straight from the guard without using his body really has a lot of force behind it. How is Ippo going to beat that?

  • @TaishoAce1001 Dude its a cartoon lol

  • @Swizzik Still, the mechanics are all there.

  • @Swizzik

It's more accurate than one can expect

  • @TaishoAce1001

He isn't. Not till now at least, 986 chapter :)

  • 4:04

    1-Frame Link Inputs, LOL.

  • i wanna see this anime!!

  • Ippo: Time for the Dempsey ROLL!

    Martinez: C-C-C COmboooo BREAKER!

  • @MYSELF12677 looool classic

  • punches of a mexican go farther than the normal punch. lol

  • i want season three!!!!!!!!!!

  • DAMN Martinez really is a monster. :O

  • Wow his jabs are like a sniper shots!!

  • Ricardo FINITO lopez world boxing leyend even in a manga!!!!

  • By the time Ippo is ready to fight Martinez it'll be because the latter is in a wheelchair and dying of old age...

  • Jesus Christ, listen to Ricardo's punches as they hit Ippo's gloves. It's like he's trying to block a freaking cannon.

  • C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker!! 4:00

  • LOL Ippo is doing all of these moves while Ricardo is just stand there throwing regular jabs and probably thinking "wtf is this kid doing?".

Also, I find it a bit odd that there not throwing in a fictional pro filipino boxer as a rival for Ippo or something. Seeing as how the only asian boxer that made a name for himself is a filipino.

  • @ReignlawXV There are 2 Filipino Boxers there actually. The 1st one is the opponent of Ippo who is an excellent boxer but throws fight for money and the other one is the opponent of Miyata who is the son of the boxer who defeated his father. Both of them gave them a pretty hard fight and the match of Ippo almost got decided by decision if not for his last second knockout.

  • @ReignlawXV Note that most of the fighters and fights in the series only fight in Japan; Date the former Japanese fighter couldn't even handle the world arena.

  • jajaja la cara que hace ippo al final

  • wtf is that aimbot damn xD

  • "philippine boxers are better" - Pac Man

  • FAVED :D Anyone know of any other animes like this?

  • Ricardo is the perfect example of perfection ( Bruce Lee )

  • "punches of a mexican go farther than a normal punch."

  • Thats an obvious aimbot.

  • the jabs at the end where martinez picks apart his dempsey roll is just too good.

  • puerto ricans are better >.>

  • @Badguy260 LOL hell no puerto ricans always loose whit mexicans (:

  • @Badguy260 Ja! si te refieres que son mejores a los mexicanos sigue soñando, Mexico tiene 18 campeones mundiales en este momento, cuantos puerto rico?

  • did ippo's coach has been calling him "kuso"?

  • @dapithapon yeah he did standart stuff

  • @SnakevsOzelot I've researched, it's actually "kozou". I thought his coach is calling him shit.

  • @dapithapon look at the nicknames ippo.wikia.com/wiki/Makunouchi_Ippo

  • @SnakevsOzelot it simply means kid

  • @dapithapon

    He's calling him kid.

  • @superfakerbros

    at least I think.

  • @dapithapon kozou is actually a kind of bad word to call a kid kind of like a "brat" so in this case the subber did a good job in translating the word.

  • @dapithapon Kozou is japanese for little kid or brat or things along the lines of junior.

  • @lvlaplelvlasta Kuso literally means "shit" in Japanese. The subbers probably replaced it with "brat" in order not to be questioned by the censors.

  • @MaverickHunterX3 I thinks he is saying Koso which means Brat-kid.Kuso means shit

  • Comment removed

  • @MaverickHunterX3 kozo means kid, kuso means shit. the coach is saying kozo.

  • @dapithapon Gaki is the actual way to call someone a brat though.

  • @dapithapon its kozou and it means boy or kid

  • @dapithapon he said ``kozou`` which actually means kiddo or brat

  • pwned

  • I'm mexican. So does that mean my punches go farther? Are they stronger than anyone else' punch?

  • The coach is suggesting mexicans have long wing span compared to a japanese guy of the same weight class. Ippo is used to fighting japanese boxers, so maybe he isn't used to someone being able to reach him from a certain distance. So you would only have an advantage if you are boxing some poor asian kid used to boxing other asian kids.

  • @Archtyp3 what if i boxed a nigger or a white dude? (no racist)

  • @TheStreetfightercody

He has fought a black guy before, even a Russian.

  • @huneylove5 ippo has fought them? or you mean ricardo?

  • @TheStreetfightercody they probably meant about how a mexican boxer trained which is different and harder than the japanese one.

  • @TheStreetfightercody

only if you are the world champion :)

  • @etereo15 Haters gonna hate.

  • @TheStreetfightercody tha japanese were known to be xenophobic to the extreme. when they say little things like this its just a little of it showing. though in recent times they've all but squashed this negative little trait. however if you went to japanese high school you'd probably be something interesting to look at.

  • @allshallbelosttoyou I've been to Japan several times, and to be frank, Japanese people are very xenophobic. Especially older people. Kids think Japan is all anime and tradition, and I love anime! But... hell no.

People scowl at you just for entering a grocery store. It's actually incredibly hard to find someone who will not be a total asshole to you, and good luck if you're learning Japanese. The slightest linguistic mistake will make you the laughing stock of everyone within hearing distance.

  • @RebornAleph hmm, disappointing. well if i went and anyone gave me a hard time i'd just say "1945" in japanese and walk away.

  • @allshallbelosttoyou I tried to be the bigger guy on multiple occasions. Thing is, no matter how hard I try, I'll still look like a westerner, and I'll still act and react like one. Of course, I could always study the various mannerisms and try to act as japanese as I possibly could, but really, I don't want to do that to appeal to people who can barely greet me without a glare, y'know?

I still absolutely love the culture, but... damn.

  • @RebornAleph I personally wouldnt stress it. you're a westerner, so carry pride as such. they glare at you, ask if they have an eye problem, that or hold their gaze. teach them respect through fear if nothing else. however this is coming from a person who relishes fighting so ya know..take it with a grain of salt.

  • @allshallbelosttoyou Oh, definitely. I'm assuming you're a semi-pro Boxer as well? (it seems you find a lot on Ippo videos around YouTube). I love the thrill of the ring just as much as the next guy, and I try to carry my pride around hanging by my nose, but at times, one really wishes it was more like it is in the anime.

Well, I gotta grow up and face the reality of it some day, eh? Haha.

  • @TheStreetfightercody lol i think the translation is a little bit off. XD

  • @startingsprinter

Maybe, but I've noticed in a lot of Japanese manga, especially one as old as Ippo, tend to give certain physical characteristics to races. Like in Ippo, when they were fighting that black boxer, someone was going on how Ippo needed to brush up on his footwork since black people are naturally born with rhythm.

  • @dunnono00 It isn't really about manga. Manga does make the best out of the stereotypes usually to make for good storytelling and character development, but it is a scientifical fact that black people have a bigger muscle mass than, say caucasians. It is simply a genetic development remnant. Nowadays, we really don't need any difference between our sub-species as humans, but we are still getting rid of the genetic evolutions that our body put forth through different ecosystems.

  • martinez didnt gave ippo a chance.. x'D

    poor ippo..

    /watch?v=7JL5DTKIbR0

    manny gave benavidez a chance..

    i wish ippo did..

  • c micheaL buffer nasa KO din.... hahaha

  • I'd love to see Martinez vs Takamura :-D

  • Puro Mexican Power!!!

  • OMG i thought ricardo was waiting for ippo to return to a certain point where he would be landing a left(since the dempsey roll goes left and right he has to return to where he started at some point)...but he is actually hitting him in different spots, that means his lefts surpass the speed of the dempsey roll ad moreover he has incredible accuracy 0.o

  • Thats why Mexican Boxers are the best

  • OK, i THINK i have figured out how he creates those unreadable lefts. He basicly start by doing a pro version of a common persons punch, only using his arm to extend the shortest possible path towards the opponents face. Using an almost godlike perfect muscle control he does so few motions visible it appears as if you, not the glove, is the one moving. Then when his glove hides his elbowe and shoulder he throwes in his entier body into the punch so fast and flawless that there´s no time to see.

  • ricardo martinez is based on real life boxer ricardo lopez...who fought many fights in asia including japan....one of the few boxers to ever retired undefeated....probably the most underrated fighter of all time ...and one of the best mexican fighter of all time

  • Love that the anime give props to Mexican boxers. Viva la Rosa!!

  • @FireballKid Long live the rose? Don't you mean "la Raza"?

  • @MagusKali lol my mistake viva la raza is what i meant

  • Mexicans ftw? xD

    Hahaha.

  • cant touch this :)

  • LOL Punches of a mexican go farther than a normal punch

  • Rule with the left, you rule the world.

  • heh i like how the "punches of a mexicango farther thana normal punch" that latent xenophobia is peeping its head again

  • Damn. Just damn lol, no chance. Ippo couldn't touch the guy. Then again, he is WORLD CHAMPION.

And to the guy that's comparing mainstream battle anime to sport anime like Ippo, don't be stupid. People have different tastes, don't dish out reckless comments like that man. It makes you sound bitter and like a broken record. It's like comparing Mexican food to Chinese food. Only ignorant people hates the other if they haven't had a full slice of it.

  • Ippo Makunouchi 18-1-0, 18 KO (JBC Champion) DATE OF BIRTH -- November 23, 1973 NATIONALITY -- Japanese BOXING STYLE -- Infighter, Peek-a-Boo HEIGHT -- 5'5" (164.0 cm) REACH -- 65" (165.0 cm) WEIGHT -- 124 lbs. WEIGHT CLASS -- Featherweight GYM AFFILIATION -- Kamogawa Gym SPECIALTY -- Liver Blow, Gazelle Punch, Dempsey Roll
  • @SamerIRAQ what a huge ippo fanboy....

  • @SamerIRAQ 1973???????????

  • @pouetes yes thats his birth year of Makunochi Ippo. !!! yes it started in 1989 cuz he began in his 16th age.

  • @SamerIRAQ damn ippo must be fucking old by now.....

  • Ricardo >> Hawk

  • @rinwhr Takamura >> Hawk and Ricardo

  • @YourMumaNator Ricardo is better than takamura, there different weight classes though

  • @MEXICAN00X as stated by the author, takamura is the strongest boxer in the series, thus far anyway. Ricardo would be second, and i recon he's followed by vorg zangief.

  • @behemuth in terms of technique Ricardo is superior, look what he did to Date not to mention he was the first to truly counter the dempsey roll. the guy is a monster, if he was in the middle weight class with those skills combined with his power, im sure he would beat takamura

  • @MEXICAN00X nonsense, vorg zangief countered ippo's dempsy on his first try, even held back while doing it to prevent damage on ippo. Takamura's skill is such, that the old man cannot advice him in his world title fights, he's fighting on an entierly different level than ippo. Takamura has mastered the coach's training. there is only one fighter who managed to make takamura sweat though, which is ricardo. a testament to his skill. But i would call them equals in skill, but taka is too pompus.

  • @behemuth The sparring match with Martinez occurred way before his spar with Vorg, and as you can see Martinez didnt even need to use his right at all, the man didnt even break a sweat. During the Date match, even Takamura admitted that Martinez's Right was a freaking cannon. not to mention he is a super champion that truly rules the world with his unpredictable left, which takamura does not posses.

  • @behemuth little known fact. according to taka mura vorg is an out boxer and only fought an infighting style to appease the japanesecrwod. he suspected that had he fougght his natural style he would have beaten ippo, sendo and eiji. this is coming from one of the few"geniuses" on the show. poor vorg, poor stupid vorg.

  • @allshallbelosttoyou yeah, Vorg really were a cut above the rest, shame because i really like his character. But considering he became 1st seed in the world in such a short amount of time since his return to boxing, speaks volumes. would have been fun to see Vorg take out woli with limited effort.

  • @behemuth and i know realize that i type too goddamn fast and mispelled aa bunch of easy words and ran the others together. embarrassing.

  • @allshallbelosttoyou meh, don't really care as long as i can read it. Grammar natzies on youtube/forums are the scums of the earth, they will wank to a jizz over a simple typo

  • @MEXICAN00X What are you talking about? Takamura is by far the strongest boxer in the series so far.

  • Ive almost completed Hajime No Ippo and just now I watched 4mins of the first episode of Baki the Grappler and damn, I love this anime but Baki would whoop Ippo's ass o.O

  • manny pacquiao is the best boxer a filipino, no one can beat him even mexican or americann. may weather is afraid to fight pacquiao to fight..

  • @Lynjun88 Random blood test can beat Manny PEDquiao.

  • @JastinBeaver your username tell a lot about urself, go f@@@ ur idol

  • heheh punches of mexican XD

  • sore wa nite imasu "Ippo= Manny Pacquiao (マニーパッキャオ) and Ricardo =(Juan Manuel Marquez(ファンマヌエルマルケス) すてきなビデオ!!! really appreciate: w(^__^)w

    -from Japan (日本の)

  • RM IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and lets face it in the ring with boxing rules baki cant grab or kick so ippo wins the fist fight ill give the street fighting to baki tho

  • 4:00 one of the worst beat downs ever.

  • to bad ii read somewhere about the makers of hajime no ippo are working on the Marvel anime that is why the season 3 of hajime no ippo still hassn't arrived suckz man am still waiting :(

  • @lywarrior well... madhouse works on a lot of projects, but theyre a big enough company that they can maintain a schedule

  • @lywarrior Marvel anime? Not the comic company Marvel, right?

  • @Juno36 yeah da company marvel there working with maddhouse, haven't you seen the new x-men anime and iron man anime the hajime no ippo makers "maddhouse" made it.

  • @lywarrior Wow, that's awesome. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing!

  • 1:37, I felt Ricardo's punch's pressure and crapped my pants.

  • Their spar was like more than 3 minutes. Ippo should have gotten to his corner and his coach would have given advice to turn things around.

  • idk thats one thing beaners do right........is boxing

  • Don't feel bad, Ippo-- just be glad he didn't give you the right

  • i wanna see ippo fight baki from baki the grappler

would be epic because strength between them as diffrent animes are still compatible

  • @blackflames12221 Honestly, I think Baki would, at the very least, cripple the hell out of Ippo.

  • @Juno36 baki got knockedout by a boxer in his own anime and if u pay attention the style the boxer uses is basicly miyata's and im talking bout a boxing match street fight is most likely baki all day and baki is definitely not as fast as some ppl in the ippo series

  • @blackflames12221 The thing is, that was when Baki was still "weak". Don't forget that he went on to beat the guy who broke that same boxer's arms just for fun. Besides, in season 2, Baki won a tournament that had the world *heavy weight* champion of boxing participating in (even if the boxer lost to his opponent on some bullspit). Ippo isn't even a world class fighter yet-- just the top *light weight* in Japan.

  • @blackflames12221 not at all baki can kill an animal bigger then a bear ippo gets beaten up by some skinny Mexican dude i don't think it would be fair xD

  • @Bodybuddha u forget baki got knockedout by a boxer simi;ar to miyata

  • @Bodybuddha u forget baki got knockedout by a boxer similar to miyata and no offense but i think takamura can take baki

  • @blackflames12221 once again think about it =p

baki season 2 watch it xD

  • @Bodybuddha in a boxing ring there is no grappling or kicks thats like putting a dog in a cage with a cat only allowing them to use paws dog would lose cuz it cant bite get me?

  • must be mexican warrior, of course!

  • That last scene reminded me of super punch out!

  • ricardo martinez = ricardo "finito"lopez mexican champion never defeated C: hall of fame ;) soon

  • "Punches from a Mexican go further" Don't you just love Japanese stereotypical, underhanded racism?

  • @Honestabe86 only in america is racism unacceptable in any way shape or form...sickens me. i cant even say black ppl tend to be darker than most without ppl thinking im racist

  • @pzpepsi

Yeah, cause racism is such a good thing.

  • @Honestabe86 at some point its not racist. its just obvious. to say black ppl are dark isnt racist. to treat them badly because of it is racist.

  • @pzpepsi

Mexican punches going further is obvious? That can not be compare to black people being dark. Thats obvious bullshit.

  • @Honestabe86 ok and the chinese can fly....is that racist? but to be fair. in mexico range is looked at as the best advantage, i know cuz thats what my coach trys to get outta everyone and every other mexican trainer. so they train them to step and stretch a bit further and being a cartoon it was exaggerated. totally not racist

  • @pzpepsi

Ok its not racist but its definitely a stereotype.

  • Must be those burritos giving him strength

  • THE FUJIN GOT OWNED BY THE WORLD CHAMP

  • The dempsey roll just became a whack a ippo game.

  • ippo should continued that liver blow instead so atleast the world champ wwould know his power lol

  • ippo should ask pacquiao how to beat a mexican champion

  • @tegoy666 well Ricardo Martinez is based on Ricardo Lopez, the legendary undefeated champion 51 wins zero losses 1 draw, imo if el finito meet pacman he will destroy him

  • @sakeranz blah blah blah nobody asked

  • @tegoy666 Sometimes the truth hurts

  • @sakeranz what truth?

  • @tegoy666 Shut up you troll. You don't understand real boxing outside of Hajime No Ippo.

  • @AznSupaStar14 temper temper

  • Ricardo Martinez is inspired in the UNDEFEATED retired mexican champion RICARDO "FINITO" LOPEZ!!!

  • GAWD Ricardo is such a BADASS!

  • matinez stop the Dempsey Roll OMG

  • Моё самое любимое анимэ, давайте 3 сезон про Иппо Макуночи

  • Lol @ Ippo's face at the end

  • I don't know if anyone reads the manga, but this was the first time the demsey was neutralised. It weird how they didn't pick up on it because they is a HUGE problem for ippo later on. Howvr, wat sik about this story line is that they r trying hint throughout the manga that 'the best fighter' notice the other fighters weakness straight away. It takes ages for these lot that to recognise that ippo has a good weapon the dempsey, but its also a huge weakness. Thts wen i realisd tht RM is a genius!

  • @JUNGLY108

o.0 this is the first, sendou and vorg stopped it
