I'm trying to have a life while waiting for disability to finally get approved. I have been trying to meet a woman from a dating site and I did. She is disabled, too and she invited me to a dance? LOL Well there is very little I can regularly do and if I do engage in something its not without "my chair". This woman, on disability, was literally running during raffle give aways and dancing in between??!!! I am way worse off than her and she's just livin life while I sat in my chair! Must be nice!

Apparently I am filing for SSI. I initially applied in '05 been denied 3 times with appeals and now have an attorney and have had them for over a yr. My hearing was on 11-20-10 and I'm...waiting?? Still? I am unable to work at the ripe old age of 43!!! Unemployable since '05 and penniless since '08 and now I have to resort to a federal offense to get registration for my car cause my friends are now all tapped out. Fn sad!!! I was severely athletic, too and now I only dream of doing that stuff!

The system is so corrupt and is totally 100% unfair to people that ARE disabled and Really need it. There is someone I know that can do many things physically and drive a car and bowl and play pool and ride a bike and still she said she got it within weeks and we used to work together in an office environment. Politically the system is full of BS and people like this lady I know are getting it and are not even physically disabled at all and is getting a huge SS check. The system is not fair.

Hello, need some help. Sister is 60 years of age and filed for Social Security Disabilty. She filed the claim couple weeks ago, but today they tell her she can not receive. They said that she has not paid in to the system in the last 5 years. She has been disabled for years, but just now filing. Can you help her or direct her. She is not able to walk due to bone on bone in the knees. Her doctor is on board with her. Thanks.

I don't know where you live but we have Texas rehab commission that helps disable in all areas we have a Houston center of independent living that has volunteersl to help direct you to avenues you need. I think the last I was there we ranked 49th in assisting the disabled. Hopefully, you have a state that does more. Definitely, there will be someone that will help and have volunteers.

Dude, I got the paper work for this, and it was a stack of forms about 1 inch high. It was asking me questions about exact dates, addresses, and medications prescribed by doctors. I do not have all this information memorized or written. It even asks strange questions about my siblings, and their social security #s, which I don't have memorized either. I have a legitamite claim for schizophrenia. What should I do? I can't hold a job for longer than two weeks because of my problem.

Thanks, Harold! :) Since the beginning of my work life, I have not been able to hold a job for more than 3-4 months, with the exception of a US Postal Service job, so I think that I would more than qualify me. I can't take the stress of some of the jobs that I have held, and I need to find a job that isn't very stressful, but I'm having a lot of difficulty doing so. I don't want to apply for SSDI, but I am seriously starting to consider it.

in the u.k. in the next two years our disability welfare system is bieng dismantled and ppl are thrown off also we have to go work related activity be carefull they dont remove your welfare systems saying its too expensive [ they can pay the bank system billions tho down with NWO]

TX Medicaid system only will help me NOW if I get pregnant. To me, I would rather support one person, rather than them and their child they cannot afford. For me to get pregnant would be an act of stupidity/desperation due to lack of health insurance. My severe Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Lymes Disease, and Diabetes, I did NOTHING to contract. Pregnancy, except for cases of Rape/Incest is self-caused. Why only help the pregnant?

I have been trying for a year to get a sit down job. I would love one. Please give me one. Our jobs searches are limited because of our back problems. My back problems came from working a production job that entailed lifting and it ruined my back. Due to screw ups I was not able to obtain workers comp. Now where does this leave me? I have kids I am trying to raise. I have worked for 30yrs before this happened.

try getting into your state rehab program. They can help you keep your current job (with reasonable accomadations), or retrain you for a new one. If you need a surgery or meds they may be able to provide that for you. They will also find you a job you can do.

Dear Heraold...My name is Luke. I am 19 years old and Disabled. I recently had surgery on my shoulder that did not work out. i cannot lift 20 pounds...i was dissapproved for SSD because i havent made enough money...I have worked for about a year and i made roughly 1500 dollars.
