I see your a big Randall fan, same here. Have you tried the V2? I'm trying to get the V2, but first I have to find a new home for my baby the Randall RH 150D G3 Plus
Should have supported a local shop! Killer Amps I have one just like it. Please all reading, BUY LOCAL! Just ask for the same deal mom and pops music store and most shops will match! I own one and I would have matched it. killer licks too! Ronnie James Dio would be proud of you for his support on the RAM sign. Thanks for reading this.
I've had my RH150 for about 5 years now and love it. Was looking for a marshall avt but this blew it out the water (so much more personality). I got vavle-state because I wanted a bit more warmth and character than pure solid state but didn't want the hassle and expense of all valves. The RH is a pretty good compromise I'd say.
@esplover1994 Stay away from the Valve king. For that money you can buy a good solid state amp. The Valve amps in this priceclass are mostly bad sounding. including the valve king. Go for the Randall!
Now I know a lot about guitar setup. Regular, trem, Floyd Rose, but I have literally no to little knowledge on amps. I know what you are saying with the dials but with all the other stuff like cabinets and stuff, I don't have a clue. Can you help me out a bit before I go to buy an amp that they are throwing in my face saying "Oh this is cool!" But I don't know for sure.
I wouldn't recommend using ANY Randalls without a post EQ. But when it first has a perfectly post EQ'd sound, with amp EQ'd dynamics perfected, it's the best metal sound i've ever heard. In my case, it was an RH150.
Hey, sounds great man! I am considering of buying this same amp, but i cant get info on the back panel... is there an Ohm switch back there? Is is switchable for 8 ohms?
Hey man, how much did you buy that head for? And also how like is is like compare it. Like is is so much that you can't even hear yourself scream when its kranked r what lol?
can anybody tell me waths the diffrence of the plus g3 and the normal one and if you can get a realy good metal core sound out of this amp ohh and how many tubes dose it have. thanks
You dont need a metal zone. This amp is can get more gain than this. Besides whats the point of buying an amp to play metal just to throw a distortion pedal in front? Makes no sense. Just buy an amp that sounds good for what you want to play, and all the metal pedals from boss are fizzy garbage IMO.
I dont know, somebody told me he needed a shitload of pedals and eqs with a Marshall JCM900 cab to satisfy him, but then again, he is a tube guy, I bought a metal zone and I kinda like it, not the greatest but not bad either, my Marshall valvestate combo didnt have enough gain on it, so the metal zone with my eqs set just the way and a noise suppressor kinda delivers a somewhat satisfying tone, but thanks anyways, your comment helped me out, I have heard mixed opinions on this amp. I wasnt sure.
No prob. If you were looking for an amp just go to a few shops and try em out see what you like. Dont buy things based on reviews and what other people say. If it sounds good to you then thats good.
i have a question, im about to buy this amp but i saw it has 2 out puts and say 4 ohms but is a mono or stereo and is it por each side o what, =P, i love this amp but im worry about that
i have the same series head, but its the 150 watt one. i think mine is defected cuz it doesnt sound that good. i have to use a gain booster just to get a decent distortion out of it on channel 2. its sounds tinny and weak without it. i bought it off ebay. lol
hat should i do? could i send it to randall for them to take a look at it?
its not a complete solid state amp. its a mosfet / valve amp, it only has the one tube but its a pre-amp tube i think not a power tube. i have the 150 watt version of this head and it rocks :)
I've got a couple of clips on here, but the quality isn't very good. You can get the idea of the heaviness though. Click on my username to check em out.
Say what you will about SS amps but when Randall and other manufactures start incorporating 64 bit DSP's in their amps it's going to start making tube manufacturers very nervous.

Yeah I love the Randall tone, but all the newer ones I've owned have had issues of some sort. You could throw the old ones down a flight of stairs and they'd still work perfect! Still wouldn't mind trying one of these in person though.
True, but those were the original made in Irvine CA randall amps, not the junk that has been made since US musical bought them out. Ever play a Warhead? cheap chinese junk, most of the first ones blew up. Sounded like ass. Buy a Madison Prophecy.

Well King, you've done it again. Great review. As far as the amp goes, pretty impressive! Its got punch and color. It doesn't sound "empty" as SS amps usually sound.
That amp has some punch to it, this is a solid state (for the most part) amplifier I would not mind having. I never have owned a Randall, how durable are they? I use a Peavey and that has stood up to a lot of abuse and still keeps going.
Love this amp. I have the RH150G3Plus myself running through a Randall USA XL RS412XL100 with celestion G12H-100. I am trying to get some cash to buy a V2 or T2 though. Feel free to check out some of my reviews most are done with the Randall so if you want to hear more check out my channel :). PS. good review man love this amp to bits. These amps are one of the few good solid states. Others include Peaveys, Roland, Ampegs, Line 6 (Vetta's and Flextones), and the Axe-FX.
