If you really think about it, "How does it taste?" is rather weird phrasing. Food is an inanimate object, so it cannot taste, right? We understand the meaning because it's idiomatic for us, but to an inexperienced foreign speaker who still thinks in her native language and must translate things back and forth in her mind before she speaks them, it's nonsense.
