Just read a comment about how a friends dad died so they know how it feels. Honestly as someone who also has lost a dad, until it happens to you personally you have no idea, even then all experiences differ and that even hurts me more than comforts me when people say it to me. It's said with good intentions but actually puts down the amount it changes your life.

I had a very similar experience in high school, where I kind of floated between a lot of groups of friends because I had so many different interests and because the people were so different, even though my high school was smaller than some, with only about 800-1000 students. I was/am shy too, along with being a big worrier, but hopefully I can get over that some day because you need to go after what you want in the pursuit of your happiness, like you said.
