  • were actually playing this is band, i play a mean trombone XD.

  • this is slow compared to the actual recording. but you guys did amazing.

  • squeak.... but i play euph and played this with my honors band, one of my all time favorites

  • I played euph last year and this year a different group I'm playing in is doing this song, but I play 2nd trombone. Apparently I still remember the euph part and I keep playing it on my trombone :P

  • my band director told our two base clarinets shafalli and dustin and i quote" just beast it up kick some concert butt"

  • i plat tenor sax and bassoon...this is mt alltime favorite piece that ive ever played!!!!

  • whoa piccolo... but im only a seventh grader and we didnt have piccolo auditions this year. but this piece is fun but REALLY high, piccolo would probably be easier

  • this is my band, the video wasnt that good the live sounds even better, we won gold that year, and yes it was bass clarinet

  • It's bassoon and bass clarinet in the beginning.

  • Bass Clarinets FTW! It is so fun to play.

  • YEAH BASS CLARINET!!!!! You rock!

    Great work!

  • wait, is it a bass clarinet in the beginning...?

  • @sarahsquirrel3 bassoon.

  • @tuckerbizzy1

    oh... Well that's still cool.

I play the bass clarinet and I'm playing this song in concert band and it's really fun.

  • @sarahsquirrel3 bari sax

  • how many people are in this band?

  • meh, ive heard better sounding trumpet parts, but overall a pretty good performance

  • Lol were playing this for my regular band the bari part for this is amazingly fun

  • hey einstein, i'm in All-Southern California Junior High School Honor Band, too! I play trumpet which is right next to Baritone Sax i think O_O

  • i am only 14, and i got into the All-Southern California Junior High School Honor Band. This is one of the songs we're playing:) i play Baritone Saxophone, so its quite nice to have something other than bassline;) Really great song:)

  • hella slow haha my school did it faster

  • Every instrument is important. Or else it wouldn't be a band:)

  • GO WOODWINDS! Mostly Clarinets!!! FIRST CHAIR FTW!

  • We did this in 8th grade. The clarinet solo is what the whole trumpet section played. Ha

  • @TheRebeccaful And the solo is quite annoying too. xD

  • watch the transition at 0:55

  • I loved this song! We played it a couple months ago. It kinda sucks when you are the only bassoon though....

  • @Kyogre1940

TELL ME ABOUT IT! the beginning kills my entire face :)

  • We are playing this, trail of tears, and his honor for regionals.

  • "Trail of tears" ; by who? Eric Johnson?

  • the oboe solos were replaced by a sax and clarinet.. thats just not right -.-

  • @greenandpurpleee...that only happens if the band dont have an oboe

  • @bigmoe93 haha. im an oboist and a freshman at my high school. we have a freshman band, sophmore band, and a junior senior band. my band director is having me play with the junior senior band and this is the song. (since i am the only oboe hes had in 10 years, he is using me to his advantage) annd. HE DIDNT TELL ME THIS WAS A FREAKING SOLO!

  • @tuttifruityxDD hahahahahahaha lol that is funny...well oboe's are important lol just be abeast at what u do!

  • @tuttifruityxDD hahahahahaha woow!!!!!! that is wow!

  • im playing this at indianapolis =D

    MIDDLE SCHOOL RULES~

    SMS WIND RULES MUHAHAHA

  • good but sounded sorta in a rush. muore musicality would sound great!

  • very good !!!!

  • I played this piece couple years back in high school for regional band festivals, and when we got to the state-qualifying contest, our judges said it was a piece below standard and not for state contest consideration. Lame. But really fun piece!

  • Euphoniums could play out a little more, and on the euphonium solo you could be a little more musical. Good job sound great

  • Someone thumbed you down?

  • yeah... i am playing this song and my director keeps telling me i have license to kill on that (But i know to make it loud yet musical)

  • Correction to my first post: We are now 2nd place for Sweepstakes... one school fell out so we got their spot now.

They play thi stoo loud in the beginning... it's marked mf, but should be played as p.

  • We played this for our spring concert last. Great job with that clarinet solo at the beginnig. I had to play that too so I know how fast those fingers have to move. Godd job over all.

  • My concert band played this for the Heritage festival. All around great song, but you really need a balance between the brass and the woodwinds.

  • OOOO we just played this @ our spring concert!!! It was DEFINATLY not as good as this!

  • I ABSOLUTLY love this song! We just performed it today! I was in the the 2009 OCDSB Allstar Band! We all loved this song! =D

  • Really?! You were awesome. Loved it! My favourite song you played. Hehe. I was in the audience. : )

  • my symphonic winds director composed it. :D

  • REALLY good!!! we played this last year and omg the grade11s never practised ;l the grade12s rocked it tho :D

  • that sounded great but your baritone or baritones should be louder i could barly here them or him

  • West Carroll H.S. band just played this at the 2009 Organizational contest... We recieved a Division 1 rating, and are currently in 3rd place for the sweapstakes! Congrats, and thanks much to out director, M.Bressler, whom directed us, and big thanks to E.bressler, who put the program together!

  • this song is great just sight read it and it was amazing

the bass clarinet part is rockin!!

and yeah the band i'm in is a 6-9th grader band so yeah :)

  • I really don't think this is limited to high school bands as some people have said. My 7th and 8th grade performed this at the highest lest in contest and received a perfect score. I was on the first flute part and piccolo. :D

  • yah exactly!!!! i cant wait to get to play this we havent even looked at it yet we just got done with our u.i.l contest so we'll probably look at it monday! :3

  • i have to play this for my spring concert and im in middle school!!!! im a clarinet 1 im a little scared

  • pretty good for a band of 24 kids.

  • ha my school frrriiieed that jount..and we played for a CONCERT!

  • did the clarinets tongue all that??

  • yeah they did. it was hard

  • wow, for a high school band this isn't too bad.

  • i love to french horn solo

  • The altos were a little too quiet near the beginning when they got the melody.

  • I wanna play this D:

The saxophone part sounds fun, is it?

  • I'm a flute player and this song is soo much fun! The Allstar band I'm in plays it so awesomely! =D

  • i'm a freshman playing the trumpet and this song was soooo much fun to sight read the first time i got it!! =)

  • I love this piece! My junior high band is playing this right now. Lots of fun, lots of repeating.. .: D

  • lol if you guys could play it i would agree! ^^ <3 neil

  • wait before i start hi matt!!!!!! :)

soo yea this piece is pretty much repition in the clarinet parts. its muy fun!

  • yea were playing this piece 4 a national competition 4 carnegie hall it's actually pretty easy it's most eighth notes in 2/2

  • we are playing this as a high college band piece where i go. The clarinet part isn't as bad as it seems. it is a lot for repetition. but it sounds really cool.

  • love this song. were playing it for all-county. i deff do not see this as middle school. the five note scale idea is so cool. love it.

  • my band is playing this now!! its so difficult!! but amazing

  • SICK CLARINET PART!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the section at 1:56. I play snare drum in my band for this song

  • that was money

  • this is a fun song! we're practicing it in band right now, and i think its a good song for 8th and 7th grade students. not for high school.

  • Are you joking me?

I am in 9th grade and thi song is made for a HS advanced wind ensemble.

    This song is hard man

  • uh not really haha it's sooo much fun to sight read!!! =D i'm a freshman too and it's a sophomore-junior-low senior peice. it's actually not that bad. the speed in this video, though, is extremely hard to do with few flaws. but it sounds great!! =)

  • well for me, I have been learning the clarinet for less than a year. That is why I was saying it was hard, but luckly I know how to read music

  • I just played this song today at a regional band performance and let me just say that i've never wanted to burn a single piece of music more than this one!! Don't get me wrong, i love this song, but the bassoon part kills and we had to learn it in 3 days

  • lmao boooo either the conductor sucks or the band didn't follow his conducting at 3:15

  • thats weird was that a Euphonium or a trombone playing the solo along with the trumpet, sounded like a t-bone to me

  • well sir or madam, you are wrong! that should be a euph. just got the piece in band. :P

and it sounds kinda weird bc they are different solos.

  • yes it is a euph part, but we didnt have a euph player so i played it on bone

  • thats mad shit, love the song, its so exiting and fun. great performance : )

  • This song isn't that hard, but my friend and I had to play it for an honor band, but we nobody knew how fast it was suppose to go, so that made it a bit "fun" when we played it with the rest of the band. We got a handle of it though and it all turned out well.

  • my first solo! i was on picc part last year

  • this song was surpsisingly easy to play. i found it boring tho. it was a bit repetitive. but thats just me

  • what part did you have?

  • alto sax

  • lol love this song!

i played it at the conservatorium

    i played clarinet

we did a bit faster tho..

    rad song!

  • Oh cool! I played this with my band at festival last year. It was lot of fun, and I shared the trumpet solos with my brother!

  • Im not sure thats its jus because of the way the camera is from the band but are their any saxaphonis like tenors...because all i hear are clarinets??

  • Wow! Your band is really good! I'm now playing this song in my band as a trombonist, and I gotta say that it's really fun!

  • The hardest part for me when I play this song has to be when the trumpets go from, I think its a high b to a c, then a high g to a high a?

I have been able to hit a double g, but playing 4-5 hours a day, 5 days straight really gets tiring, come the end of the week, I'm struggling to hit the high c.

We havn't learned the cool part of the song yet though, right after the slow part where everyone goes all clasical and the drums stay jazzy, bar 117 I think.

  • Love this song, how does someone come up with all those parts, put them together, and make them sound good?

    Amazing playing guys stars!

  • no horn? really bad.

  • lmfao I love the part from 2:49-2:59

My friend and I (we both play clarinet) use to do awkward, in-chair, fast crunk dancing to that part since we had rests. It was amazing.

  • awesome performance! good luck to all of you next year at MICCA
