@mybruteunconscious "Some point in history"? Any idea when? When this happened really matters. Was it in 96 AD when the Clement, Bishop of Rome, wrote to the church in Corinth to quell their rebellion or did it happen in 107 AD when Ignatius of Antioch referred to the Eucharist as "the medicine of immortality"?
@mybruteunconscious The Vatican accounts were opened by John Paul II. Feel free to send your suggestions to the Vatican as to where you think they could make cuts.
why try to poke at everyone else and look with youreself what are you running from the catholic church is truth no matter what you think mabey you should look at yourself before you point at others . and if it were not for the catholic church there would be way more people dynig in the world ...we comfort the sick and dying and feed the poor but you cant see good can you? everybody has to be bad and ugly inside like you think before you type and dont try to respond to this because i dont care
more social gospel stuff...trusting in human efforts...lip service to Jesus Christ...basically just dressing up man-trusting humanism as Christian, but it's man-worship nonetheless
@DarthMambo, I''d recommend he repent of this pagan-based man-made tradition of Lent (& Ishtar), even repent of his whole counterfeit Christianity called Catholicism, that he admit there is zero salvific benefit of any works at all, that he is now renounce the papacy, Eucharist, mass, Magisterium, etc., & is now recommending to all a return to the biblical faith of trusting in Jesus alone, with the Bible as sole authority, & that he will from now on do expository preaching.
@EncompassedRunner Oh is that all?! If He did all that, the first thing he'd have to do would be to determine what books belong in the Bible - rather problematic if he's just rejected the Church which originally gave those books witness.
As for Lent being man-made, what's the problem with having a time of preparation for Easter? The Jews have a liturgical year, why not Christians? You celebrate Christmas, yeah?
Anyway, I was actually asking what you'd suggest with regards to the poor.
@DarthMambo, That was for starters! I do not celebrate any "mass," an abomination of the once-and-for-all totally sufficient sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. As for "Easter" (goddess Ishtar), I do not celebrate that, although I do celebrate Resurrection Day every Sunday & have no problem w/ "Easter" service where the real meaning is taught, though the biblical holy days of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits about the same time are much more meaningful to reflect upon.
@EncompassedRunner So you *do* celebrate Christmas then? Why pick one feast and not the other?
Of course Jews celebrate the liberation from Egypt every day, but have a particular day of the year when they focus on it. The same is true of repentance and Yom Kippur. The celebration of Easter is no different.
You didn't answer before: How would the Protestant Benedict XVI know what was Scripture and what wasn't if he's just rejected the Church which declared the canon?
At some point in time a series of lies was made true by some people which is now called religion.

The pope lives in a palace lol. I bet many wouldn't die if he doesn't live a life of luxury.

I don't get it. Condoms are the solution. Pope is a contradiction.

@mybruteunconscious If they were the solution we would no longer have a problem.
