BEING A OREO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW YOU TALK OR ACT ITS WHERE YOU ARE AT CONSCIOUSLY;AND I DONT MEAN YOU HAVE TO BE ALL AFRO CENTRIC. BUT HAVEING NOWLEDGE OF SELF IS ESSENTIAL.
I don't understand why black people have to speak different, to me they are just trying to be different, the same way they wear clothes that are too big, or walk weird, and then they will bitch about being treated differently! Well... you're different if you're following that stereotype!
funny how Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and MLK spoke proper English but were never called oreos, crakka lovers or uncle toms. Hmm. What does that mean? Could it mean that being an Oreo has little to do with vernacular, articulation or mastery of the kings English and more to do with a black persons heart and soul, arrogance and attitude, towards their own people? Bragging about speaking proper English is arrogance at its max. No one imitates blacks who speak proper English, they contribute little.
your so riqqht about everythinqq im a white qurl thats half hispanic and somtime'szx i try n act qhetto =\ but it'sz all qodd why can we jux qet alonqq n do what we wanna n live life too the fullest (:
ugh... im so tired of ppl calling me oreo, too. im puerto rican and my friend always say how deep, deep inside im a white girl. i dont care, race is nothing. the only reason ppl are different colors is bcuz ppl are different.
That is a correct assumption. I appreciate the fact that this dialogue has began on such a venue as CNN. Some parts made me angry but they needed to be brought up and looked at.
I was about to laugh when I saw the title. Who told you an oreo wasnt a cookie..... slap them for not going to elementary school. And why you got ant spray in your video... you must live somewhere near D.C.
i completely understand where you are coming from. i tend to pick up dialects really quickly and everyone has that professional voice and the friends voice. when i talk to my family who are mostly from NY, i talk completely differntly than when im speaking with my Carribean family or Southern family. sometimes i dont even know my own accent or what it is. its a mix of a bunch of stuff. in my vids you can hear me speak different ways depends on who i was chatting up that day. lol. wonderful vid!
You are pretty and speak really eloquently.

Uh... no. Actually, a white person who acts (supposedly) "black" could probably be best described as a "ZERO" candy bar?

and a bunch of white girls use slang and act "black" at my school

I agree, u still r cute! But in response 2 ur view, it is good 2 be open-minded and objective concerning this issue. No one is the same all the time.
As long people can understand what u r saying, y sweat the trivial stuff?
Be blessed.
