yes, each of the three times i have seen tom waits i have felt rather depressed afterwards, for quite a few weeks! an icon, a legend, a titantic talent... hyperbole cannot hope to encapsulate this man's charisma!
Amazing. I saw him in Dallas where he played this song on piano with only bass accompaniment. I didn't know he performed the song with the full band - lovely!
He did that in St. Louis, too!! He closed the encore with this song. I was speechless after seeing this man live--even though the sound system sucked at our venue, Tom Waits was phenomenal. I'll see you all next tour!
Haha I wanted to sing all of them out loud. I was just glad to get the chance to belt one of his tunes during the concert without upsetting anybody around me.
Went to the Dallas show Monday, this was one of the best songs performed. He actually got up from the piano and 'maestroed' the crowd as we sang. Get Behind The Mule was also awesome.
@ClockwiseCat "un operachi romantico in two acts"...i am sad...i've lost my vernacular where i have encapsulated some other wonderful things...among other stuff...
i forgive you of being guilty of being far too precious in writing...
just because you love god too...uh...i mean you love tom waits too...

Americas last beatnik. An unsung mountain of an artist that we shall not see the likes of again.

Just back from the last night of the tour in Dublin. Magnificent concert, I've never seen the likes. It's all downhill from here.

I saw him at the Mobile show a few days ago, and it was phenomenal. It was the best show I have seen so far and it will probably stay that way.

"Wonderful" cannot quite encapsulate the Tom Waits experience. Our vernacular is lacking the vocabulary to describe it. :-)
