  • Stock 2.73 gear in the TA for the loss. They have a hard dead spot at 40 and first gear is weak. Shift kit doesn't do all that much. As you can see by the launch those gears suck.

  • @rockerdude29 i can buy that civic and that motor, and have a good paintjob, with full interior, everything, for under $4000. its cheap to make a civic fast, since most "muscle cars" come at a higher price. ive also seen $5000 civics running 10's in a quarter mile.

  • @rockerdude29 i see them all the time for sale on craiglist, and on local forums. also, some other forums where people put their shell up for sale. alot of times, i see a shell for $2000, maybe less. you can buy a b20b or b20z for like $450.

    also, if you can do the work yourself, or you have friends, you wont have to pay labor. ive seen good turbo kits go for sale around $1500-2000 also. just gotta have good resources

  • @itsamedium yes I read the beginning, kid. I also read the desription box. It claims 180whp. The ITR motor is a 195hp motor. With an intake, header, and exhaust, it can make 180whp. Besides, our bolt-ons, are basically intake, header, exhaust

  • @96FbodyLT1 My 4l60e lasted 200,000 miles without a rebuild and i beat the shit out of it. Now i got a built 4l60e with a 1800 stall and i always manually shifted my old one. Never had problems. guess u just get a lucky build, or my dads a badass transmission builder. lol Ill go with the second one.

  • @jdmtuned09gt500 Auto's are fine for roll racing, the torque converter locks up, and you have 100% connection just like with a clutch. Manuals are more fun tho.

  • I'm rockin a 3rd gen trans am. Not to be rude but I wouldn't be caught dead in a civic. I've raced several this year I'm stock and beating stripped out hondas with motor swaps they're not that fast.

  • @jcbspence race one of these with a k20 motor and i bet you wouldnt. the 3rd gens are pretty slow to be honest, unless it isnt stock. even stock vs stock, theres civics that can beat the iroc Z. the 3rd gen V8's only range from 145hp-240hp. a civic is still much lighter, and most have that kind of power. im going to guess you're highly modded to say you beat stripped out, swapped hondas. i can show you a full interior 99-00 Si with a stock internal k20, and bolt-ons makin 210whp running 12.9 sec

  • @jcbspence i can show you more with full interior and making 220-230whp off a bolt-on k20 running high 12's. another one in particular is a full interior hatch like this video, making 214whp running 12.8. the iroc Z is a 15's car. like i said, theres stock hondas faster than that, and some are civics.

  • @joescivic stock irocs were mid 14 sec cars, unless your talking about the 305 tpi irocs. and your talking about a motor swap. iroc+ls3=death to k20 civic. my ls1 swapped third gen trans am ran the mid 12's with stock manifolds and nothing done to it. with a stock ls3 it would run high 11's.

  • @joescivic thats fast, especially being n/a, but you can do the same mods to the ls3 third gen, a full bolt on ls3 will make over 500hp at the crank, that is good for a low 11 in a 3200 pound third gen. that is no cam, no after market intake, basically just headers, exhaust, underdrive pulley, and a tune. My bolt on ls1 is in the high 11's, and the ls3's are just nastier.

And I used to have a 96 Civic DX which had a B16a in it. After the swap the B16a stock ran 14s. After full bolt ons it ran 12.9! Car weighed 2000LBs no driver race ready! I am not just a muscle car guy. I know what I am talking about. I ran a 12.86 in my LS1 6spd Camaro bone stock! So if I had full bolt ons on it I would have waxed my civic no prob!

  • @AdrenalineJunky17 im saying a stock japanese civic. as in the ones in japan only. if theres full interior coupes (99-00 Si that weighs 2600lbs) with a k20a2 (200 crank hp, 6spd) and bolt ons, that dynoed 210whp (thats ~235hp to the crank) and its running high 12's (12.9 to be exact). then how do you think a stock mugenn rr civic with a 260hp K-series engine that weighs 2414lbs would do? its stock. exactly how it cam from the factory. 260hp, 6spd, 2414lbs. the ~235hp, 6spd, 2600lb car ran 12.9

I had my civic for 3 years and when I was into the "tuner" side of things I really wanted the Mugen RR but didn't have the money for it. I then sold my civic bc I needed a truck for work, which then 15 MPGs where killing me, so I then sold the truck and bought my Camaro and I absolutely love it! I can run 12s, get 28-30 HWY MPGs(depending on how I drive it), and it's is a very fun car to drive!

  • its a b18c5 motor (195hp 133tq). to the wheels, that thing makes like 160whp, and hes making 180whp 125tq. it takes bolt-ons and a tune for that motor to reach 180whp.

  • @Bbdrew same here, both are allmotor, after around 90 which is the top of 3rd he just comes back and reaching the top of 4th which is 110mph or a bit more he is already passing by pretty hard... not to mention how long the gears are because of it being a automatic, if it was manual it would have walked all over the civic, if it was a LS1 it would have just plain destroyed it

    Sure it may take over top end, but for 'races' what generally counts is the 1/4 mile to most people.

    When you have a turbo 4cyl v8 guys will say put a turbo on the v8. Well when the v8's can run as much boost as easily as the 4cyls and as cheaply, then they'll say that

  • So you agree I didn't assume wrong and was correct. It's still a stock honda motor with no forced induction. I'm not a honda fanboy by any means but it leaves some respect to be had for the 1.8L

    Who cares about where they started, the honda still beat the T/A where it counts for most people - the track.

  • @Dani01c Sorry but I'm going to use the generally accepted idea of what 'power adders' are which is supercharger/turbocharger/nitr­ous.

    There is a video of this civic beating this t/a on the track. T/A ran 13.6, civic ran 13.5.

    Again, my point stands, it's still a N/A 1.8L with mods going against a 5.7L with mods. The civic probably has a couple more, big deal. The point stands that the fact that a little 1.8 without any boost/nitrous giving v8's a run for their money deserves some respect.

  • @Bbdrew lol thats how much you know, the car has around 165-170whp stock, this one has 180whp, the bolt on DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE because they dont only add power, they help the powerband... you are debating on how a modded 1.8 liter in a small car can accelerate from 10mph to around 80mph (without the opponent being in the right gear) faster than a 5.7l with just exhaust..

For $600 a DSM has been taken to 600whp and they used for example, a fuel cut defender when theres MUCH better things they could of gotten for $50 more and had the ability for way more horsepower. Just look for import tuner magazine's article on their 92 eclipse they spent $600 on and got 300whp out of with bolt ons & no tuning.

    I don't see what we're arguing about if you aren't trying to demonstrate that 4cyls are pointless/a waste of time.

It CAN AND DOES, as its a factor in some SITUATIONS. Put a stock LS1 next to another stock LS1 with drivers of equal skill & weight, lets take out the back seat, remove a/c of one of the cars. Lets race them, the one lightened will pull ahead slightly. A race was just won by weight. Weight CAN win races depending on situation!

IS350 in example does 13.3@105 if im not mistaking without a single thing done to it air cooled/heated seats many many more things, and its not a V8 if you think im a V8 hugger... yes, 4cyl is a cheap and veeeery easy way... but sacrifice many things in order for it to be almost as fast as most cars with bigger engines..

I picked up my 95 hatch for a daily driver for only $800, it's clean enough I can see someone swapping it.. it's just my daily driver though with 238k and going strong on the d15. My car nor my friends car have the fart can noise either. Mainly due to being turbo'd - it's hard enough for a honda to get around the fart noise as its just the way they sound. As for my car, DSM's generally dont have the 'fart' sound

  • @Dani01c Yes because I gave you an example specifically where weight WOULD be the deciding factor since you were acting like it has hardly any impact at all on a race outcome.From what I've seen the GTR runs the 1/4 mile bone stock stock tires in11.6, Z06 best i've found 11.2 although I believe I saw an 11.0 around the time they first came out and people were setting records

    It doesnt matter the gearing was bad in the T/A, mods are mods. if it doesnt have them tough luck, doesnt change anything

  • @Bbdrew t/a had very long gears and it probably has not much more than 200whp which makes it close to what the civic has, and with those long gears it destroys its acceleration.. thats why some hondas are pretty good in acceleration like s2k, best mod for the money are gears(4.77), which make you go from 14.0-14.1 to 13.6-.7 just with that due to them being a lot shorter and thus accelerating more because it stays in its powerband hte whole time..
