In NY a father must pay child support until their child reaches the age of 21. Even intact famalies are not obligated to support their children past the age of 18. This law was passed to produce longer periods of confrontation so that everyone involved in the injustice system makes more money, especially the lawyers. I have to agree with BALANCE withhold your support payments and knock on the Jailhouse door asking to come in. Not enough people realize that this is about the money. Take the money out of the equation and the situation would be different. In my State, as among others i imagine, when the Court terminates your parental rights you are no longer under an obligation to support those children yet fathers have been forced to. When the Court keeps your children from you is that not TPR.
