This thing was kicking butt and then the stupid FIA banned it. Of course, years later, it was ok in Formula one. By the way, very realistic looking!

this car would probably be the top 10 for fastest cars in the game if it didnt have 3 gears :-/

cuz it weighs like nothing at all and has a maximum hp of 1067!!!

it also sucks that u cant equip nos either

@BMXFREAK110 The Chaparral 2D is even faster. It has less HP, but it can hit like 288 MPH with no problem.

When your driving the 2J in GT4, its way cool! The car sounds like a freeking jet from inside and feels really smooth as you excellerate so quickly.

Cool, didn't know this car was in GT4, shame the game is not too realistic with grip levels and laptimes, the video looks like its played in fast forward. Nothing you can do about that though!

Yes the 2J still exists and I think it's still owned by Jim Hill it's creator. I did see the 2J run at the 2005 Monterey Historic Automobile Races at Laguna Seca. Very cool car to see and the other Chaparral at the event. For sale I would not think so.

@jl1rp Yes the 2J does exist and is on display at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum between Midland and Odessa Texas (of course Hall's money came from oil, so it's appropos). All of the existing Chaparrals are there, and Jim occasionally will fire one up and drive it around the museum's driveway. Of course the 2G was destroyed in the near fatal accident Jim had, but the others are all in good shape. The 2F is a little embarrassing to look at, but the others are all very striking.

The 2J had a 45HP 2 stroke snowmobile engine powering those 2 17" fans that "sucked" air from under the car for more downforce. It had a rubber edge around the car for a good air seal. The car raced in Can Am in 1970. Pretty cool video game, always wished I could have seen a 2J in real life.
