Hey Im planning on geting a package on Banana Hobby and it says 90% ready to fly and I Think you have to glue the wings on. I wasnt shure if that is a dificult process to go threw.
Are the LiPos that just came in from ordering from BH fully charged already??.. and if they are flying for about 4-5 minutes is about the safe limit right?... So how many minutes will it take for it to be full charged after that 4-5 mintue flight?
How do I connect the unlabeled servo leads into the "RTF" F-5E 70mm EDF by Blitzrcworks. The instruction manual skips this! Why was the receiver NOT in the jet when it arrived? Why were the #3 and 4 servo leads the only ones labeled? Why did QC tracking "Passed 6" put a check by 1. Tx/Rx Function Check? Why do you guys allow the Chinese to field such poor written instruction manuals? Why is customer support staff so surely, rude and unhelpful?
Is it correct that if you are camping and you cant get a fire started then you can bite a lipo in half with your teeth and this will start a nice camp fire? Would this be dangerous.
Dear Peter, You did not touch on a VERY important aspect on charging lipos. You forgot to mention that when charging a Lithium Polymer battery with mulitple cells you should use a balancer because the balancer monitors the cells that are charging. If you do not use a balancer it is possible to have the battery catch on fire, decrease battery of lifespan, or permanetley make the battery defective. Pilotsofer
hey Pete I love Ur videos Ur an awesome rc pilot. 1 suggestion why not make a video showing how to set up 4 channel Coaxial helicopter so when U bring it out 2 box. 2 keep it hovering and not moving left or right or forward on it's on. I guarantee U people will love it. I'm new 2 the hobby thanx
Does anyone has been contacted Blitz RC Works for warranty? I tried to manage the case directly with Banana Hobby and they dont do anything. The support team doesnt know anything about helicopters and always says that the problem is the battery. In addition helicopter creators, Blitz RC Works have a web page that appears in blank. How can I reach them?
Do not store them in a fridge. Just charge them to 50% of the capacity and store in a climate controlled room where it does not get drastically hott them freezing cold. They should be fine. If you store them longer than a few months, it is still good to cycle them every 2 to 3 months.
I think I am correct on using an old pot or pan maybe on a piece of plywood. That would work . you could put a lid on it too. Or how about just putting it on a big ashtray? that is fire proof. And yes, why do they sell things that are unstable? I bet if I were a gun dealer and i was selling a gun that could go off at anytime, they would sue my butt off, no? I bet I would be sued 4 sure....have good 1...Lew
It is not that they are unstable. It is all in how a lipo is treated and operated. They are just fine. Example, all your cellular phone batteries are either Lipo or Li Ion.
Well, you can safely charge a 11.1v 5000mah at 5amps "technically". However, I never charge any lipos at past 2.5 amps NO matter the mah ratings. A little slower and lower charge rate such as 2.2 amps will give better longevity to a lipo battery. 5amps is too high of a rating unless you are short on time because you have a flight demo and are in need of a FAST charge. I would recommend charging at 2.2amps.
Lipo's do not hold a memory effect; Thus they do not need to be discharged. However, if you are storing your lipo for a long period of time IE 3 or more months, it is good to put your lipo batteries on storage charge.
These batteries should come with a thermal fuse installed in the pack that interrupts the charging current if the pack gets too warm. This could also be installed by the end user in series with the wiring.
I little extra cost vs. a house fire. I'll take the extra cost. Pete, you should be pushing this idea to the battery manufacturers. If someone buys a battery from Banana Hobby and screws up the charging cycle then a fire results and kills their kids, you can bet the lawyers will be coming after you regardless of this video and your multiple warnings. Heck, the video itself proves that you are aware that these batteries are unsafe. Just trying to help you, man. Good videos you do, BTW.
I thank you for your concern. It is labeled and VERY CLEAR on each Lipo Equipped RC Product. It is a disclaimer we have pushed many times with each lipo based product. We have done the best we can with out actually being there in Person to make them read the instructions.
You can get as much as 1000 charges and discharges from 1 Lipo. If you are planning to store a lipo with no use for over 3 to 5 months, it is always good to put a storage charge on it before storing. If you leave a balanced voltage of 3.7V per cell, then store, the Lipo would be just fine when you decide to use it.
You should have stopped and said hi! I am never to busy to talk RC with you! Thanks for the comment and for your kind words. Let me know if you ever have any questions! Happy Flying!
Thanks Pete for this excellent tutorial on Lipos! Unfortunately, a lot of new hobbyists abuse lipos and not even know it since they are used to NIMH and NICADs. Your presentations of your products are the most fun to watch on Youtube. Keep up the great work with your efforts at Banana Hobby!
When a battery is done charging, you can use it right away. When you are finished running it, it is always good to let the battery cool down for about 20 minutes to your surrounding temperature. Then put it back on the charger.
I charge my lipos in a steel cash box. just filled a slot in it to allow the wire to come out. solid steel construction and lockable...pretty much blast proof and only £15 from a hardware store. theres a vid of a cash box containg an exploding lipo on here somewhere..check it out. Nice vid btw :)
That may go under several things why a helicopter will spin. Check that the gyro is in head lock mode first. Then check your tail linkages and your radio programming.
thanks for the info pete! Ive got a little vision 3 channel helicopter. and been running it on the ground to discharge the battery all the way. oops. hope i didn't hurt it. it seems to be flying to same time as before I did that so I dont think i've dameged it. thanks for the warning
One of my club buddies is a very experienced RC guy and he almost burned down his house when a LiPo he was charging went up in smoke. A bag is a great idea.
what cell voltage display thing are you using

Hi, I was wondering whats the best amp level to charge lipos at? I usually charge my 11.1v lipos @ 2.0amps with my B6 charger.

Can u charge more than 1 lipo in a storage bag?
dogdude0719 1 year ago
why buy one of those bags when you could just charge it on a concrete floor in the garage...

How should Lipos be stored for long periods of time? Should the be stored, at full charge? 40% charged? Ive heard of people storing them in a fridge?

so all i need is a the right lipo cutoff on my rc car and i can can just run the car as much as i want? or there is a point were i have to stop?
plorwax 2 years ago
can i run my car until the battery is dead?
plorwax 2 years ago
If it is Lipo, then no. It will harm the lipo.
bananahobby 2 years ago
You don't want your lipos to discharge farther than 3.1V per cell. That is a safe limit.

Hey thanks pete, realy good to have these things explained! cheers for the advice,

That is an idea, however, it will add additional cost. Lipo's are really safe as long as you treat them correctly.

you could just put the battery that you are charging in a roasting pan or metal container, no? just something you could have a fire in .
lewandlo 2 years ago
A metal pan would not do any good. It would have to be a fire proof container. We sell Lipo Bags that are fire resistant.

if the plane flys for 10 min should i fly it that long or less than that
aaron3378 3 years ago
If you get a max of a 10 minute flight, you should fly for 8 minutes or less and land. That will give your lipos the best in cycles!
